i think that the interesting thing about "Boot Camps" is that it can be informative for many RVers not just those new to the life. Going after you have some experience just give you even more questions to think about and ask....

First day at Boot Camp seemed really long. Lots of information. Got to meet Ellen too! That was a real treat. It is really great having friends here. It really makes a difference.

It was an exciting, overwhelming, stimulating first day - and only half a day at that! It's also a mini GTG because I got to meet Dawn and Chris, and Dawn's brother Paul and Redwahine's husband Larry.

Tiring and great fun so far...

We are learning so much! The fire demonstration was really informative and eye opening. I had never used a fire extinguisher before, so this was a first for me. We found out the fire extinguishers supplied with most RV's are not really effective. Will be changing over to a foam extinguisher. Will have them placed in various places in the rig. Also going to change out and add one fire alarm. Also found out my Carbon Monoxide Alarm is too far down on my wall to be truly effective. Will also be making sure the fire exits are in working order. I know the one in the living room area opens, but have never opened the one in my bedroom. In case of a fire, would be too late to find out that window won't open. There were too many examples of people being burned to death given today because they had never tested their fire exits.

Chris said to let everyone know she is going through Forum withdrawals! She does not have MiFi and the signal here is not very good for cell phones. She cannot log on with her iPad because there is no WiFi here unless you go to the office. I have days worth of posts to catch up on when our classes are over. No time to read most of them right now.

Birdie, you will be so glad to hear I am having my rig weighed on Wednesday and also taking the driving course that day. The weighing also helps you know how to distribute the weight you can carry. Looks like we will be here until Thursday to get everything done I want to do. Only thing I cannot get done is get the external and internal antennas I have ordered for my MiFi along with the cell amplifier. I was shocked to find out there is not a mobile RV person here that can do the installation. I figured Livingston would be the perfect place to find someone to do this for me. Paul could do it, but he does not want to drill any holes in my rig. Also, with his legs, he cannot climb up on the roof.

Wendy,

Girl at work used to call me "Hippie Chick". Back in the early 70's, was what was then considered a hippie. Am just older now. Still think like I did back then, mostly.

I was another good day at the Boot Camp today. We are all now graduated! Our brains are reeling. Ellen had to leave to spend some time with her sisters. Red, Sasquatch (Red, not sure that was spelled right, LOL), Mom and I are all going to an ice cream social for Veterans Day here at the park tonight. Should be a lot of fun.

We had a surprise visitor this evening. Was fixing my dinner plate when there was a knock on the door. There stood a lady I had never seen before. She was a lady named Joann who reads the forum but has never registered because she thought she could not if she was married. She read where I had posted what site I was on and wanted to come say hello. I took her over to Red's and we all stood and talked for a long time. Of course, we explained to her the forum was open to all women RV'ers. Being married did not matter. She was really nice and I hope she does decide to register so she can post. She and her husband started out thinking they would be on the road for 2 years. That was 17 years ago. She and her husband are also going to the ice cream social tonight.

Really tired so I am glad I have not scheduled my weighing and driving class until Wednesday morning. Looks like we will be leaving here on Thursday morning. Have to plan our route back to Ft. Worth. Going to investigate what state parks or COE parks there are on the way back that we can stay at to break the drive up.

We are now official Boot Camp graduates. I am exhausted and my brain would trim to mush if I tried to absorb one more piece of information ! When we arrived, our spot was near Dawn and Paul. We were setting up and Sasquatch (DH's nick name) mentioned how the selection of TV channels while at Canyon Lake was so poor and bow bored he was. Dawn and Paul to the rescue. They brught over a spare satellite dish and hooked it up. Sasquatch is now a happy camper ! So a Direct TV dish will be added soon. Now I have to.get reliable internet for him and longer trips are in our future. Thank you Dawn and Paul.

I had so much fun talking with EllenW at the Campfire last night. We felt like.we.already knew each other for a.long time. Time to go.to the ice cream social honoring Veterans. We will get the truck and rig weighed tomorrow morning and then drop her at the dealer for.some warranty work. Aloha y'all
