Good morning all! :D Another storm! G'grief, I hope all are well. Irmi, does this one get close to yew? Sonds like the cleaning is going well; hope yew don't get blasted again....As yew can see, no "yew" key. The geek wasn't too helpfl. Other times, they've been great abot trying to diagnos/fix a problem. This time, he wanted to sell me an external keyboard--for my laptop! That wood negate the convenience of yewsing my laptop! I asked abot programs to reassign a key--he said "there probably are some" & didn't offer to help me find one. I had someone with me, & I didn't want to make them wait, so I let it go & walked owt with nothing. I'll make do, while I think abot getting a new laptop...So I'm owt rnning arond in the cold yesterday, wondering what the heck I'm doing here! The HarBor sits in the driveway, whereas he coold be taking me to warmer places! Soos made it to warmth! Yippee! Other friends at boot camp! Any word re Joan??? Great pix of Deming GTG! Hope y'all have a great day & safe travels! ...PS, I've learned many new things abot this website--went to my first blog this a.m. (Carol & ? in Mex). And I thot there was some special trick to that. Dawh! Am I too stewpid to even own a compter???

Good Morning Carolb and everyone,

Not much in the line of breakfast here this morning, although I have eggs, sausage, bacon, bread for toast, strawberries, peaches, orange juice etc., it's just that I'm not in the mood for any of that. So just made a bagel. Anybody hungry, come on over and I'll even fix it for ya :)

Sorry that all you living along the east coast have to go through another storm. Under most cumstances, it would just be a nor'easter and when it's over, you just shovel out or whatever, but this is different with so many still reeling from the effects of Sandy yet.

Carolb, you need to get in HarBor and head south for sure. Your time will come I know. Glad that Soos hit some warmth finally. I know she is going to be so glad to land and park in sunny FL and stay put. Looking forward to hearing about her winter adventures in the sunny south. Carol and the driver are now in MX, so will be entertaining us with their adventures as well. And I know we are all going to be watching Dawn's posts as she goes through "boot camp" along with Red and everybody who signed up for that course.

I love that idea of cooking in the crockpot while driving. Had never even given thought to that till Dawn mentioned it. Course I don't have a rig right now, but it's something to think about. Now I could fix dinner while I am driving up to the U.P. if I could figure a way to plug into my Flex's system :)

Was out shopping yesterday and picked myself up a new little 4ft. Christmas tree and lo and behold there was the CrockPot taht I have been wanting to buy but was out of stock for what seemed like forever. So now I get to learn to cook in that thing. Been a number of years since I have used one. But I've been hearing about some pretty tasty ribs cooking in them on this forum,. Okay, ladies, what do I have to put in to make those ribs? Judy, why don't you post your recipe in the recipe section or did I maybe not go far enough down the posts yesterday? Some yummy recipes in that section I know.

Another cloudy day here today from the looks of it. Not much on my agenda. First off is to get Ms. Tessa to give me a "sample" so I can haul that to the vet and then off to the bank. Looking for some little holiday wood cut outs to make a Christmas sign and am heading Hobby Lobby If they don't have what I want, then off to a craft store about 50 miles south here. Will make a day out that trip ,with lunch out and a stop to visit a friend if I go down that way.

So, not going to bore you with any more mundane chit chat here. You all have a nice day. Keep safe, warm, dry, etc. wherever you are.

Made it to Livingston after dark last night. Not fun! Also broke my brand new computer. I thought I had it stowed right where the old one used to ride. No problems with that one. This one flew off the desk and across the rig when I had to make a sharp turn. Landed really hard on the floor. You can see where it shattered inside under the over screen. I can only see half of the screen, so apologize for any typos I cannot see. Expensive lesson learned. I have to get another one, may go for a less expensive laptop next. I cannot afford another $600+ for another computer like this. From now on, any computer will ride on my bed surrounded by pillows. Was not a good trip. Found out Mom cannot read directions. She sent me in wrong direction twice. First time, I was coming to place where I had to turn right or left. Asked her, since she had the directions. She said turn left. Nope! She had dozed off and was reading the wrong part of the directions. Had to find a road to find a place to turn around. Found an RV park just being put in, so turned in and went around their park and back out. Next time in Brenham, She missed that we were supposed to turn onto Main St. She said we had to stay on 290 until we hit 105. When I got to a sign that said Houston was just 62 miles, I found a place to pull over and read for myself. Showed her where the directions said we were to get onto Main St in Brenham. By then, I decided would take longer to turn around AGAIN, so followed the GPS instead of the printed directions. Long story short, we were driving through the Woodlands with all the traffic just after 4:00. Lesson learned here is no matter how many times she says she can be the navigator, I will make sure the GPS is programmed for the exact route I want to take. The GPS was trying to take the fastest route, not the one Birdie had explained to me. I used my computer software to plot that route. Printed it up for both Mom and Paul. All this added about 2 hours more driving time. I was definitely not a happy camper. I got kind of mean to Momma last night and told her supper was ready in the crockpot in the sink and that she was going to have to wait on herself for a change. Waited about 45 minutes. She did not get up and fix her plate. I finally told her I would do it since she was not going to do it for herself. She then got upset and said she could fix her plate. I told her apparently not, since she had not done it. Fixed plates for both of us. Will have to make my bad mood last night up to her today.

Today is definitely going to be a better day! I will make sure it is. Going to find a place in Livingston to get some grocery shopping done. This is not going to be a planned menu week. Just quick and easy meals. Figure I will be really busy with the Boot Camp. Red is due in today. Yay! Not sure when Ellen is coming in. Going to find out if I can just go pick up my mail somewhere since I am here. Will send them an email to find out. Hoping the building right behind me is the la laundry since I have a week's worth of clothes to wash from the TX GTG.

Thanks for letting me vent, y'all! Don't know what I would do without all you ladies. Of course, Zeee got to hear all this last night while I was still really ticked off. A good night's sleep helps a lot. Mom is still being the wounded martyr today. Will have to deal with that, but can do with a fresh attitude.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning Zee and Dawn and all to follow. It is cool out this AM. Up early. Made some quick type meals to reheat cuz I suspect it'll be busy at boot camp. A little grooming for Tyler...ears, nails and a good brushing (less shredded hair in the rig). Washing, cleaning, and loading rig. The cable TV at the house went out and all the programs DH had recoded were lost. Comcast got a good tongue lashing last night from DH. Cable guy coming between 10-12 this morning. We will depart after the yard people leave. It's about an hour's drive over to Livingston, so we should miss the traffic and hopefully DHs mood will still be good. Looking forward to seeing Dawn, et al again and meet Ellen. This should be fun and I look forward to learning a whole bunch of stuff so I have a clue about what I'm doing :P

I guess the computer Murphy hit both of us, Dawn. DH's computer died before we left for Canyon Lake. DH tried to get it going numerous times, to no avail. So we left for the gtg. Yesterday he called a computer Dr to come over to try and resurrect his computer. After 2 hrs @ $60 hr the prognosis was not good. Diagnosis exactly what I said, but DH needed a certified expert to say the same thing. Hard drive dying. It is 6 mos out of warranty. Able to get it up and running, however can't turn it off! So I went out and bought a large capacity external hard drive to safely move everything to for storage till he decides what new computer he wants. I'm encouraging him to get a good lap top. That way he'll be freer to take off and travel more often.

Everyone have a great day and if traveling, stay safe. Aloha y'all

Good Morning to All from Bahia de Kino, sonora, Mexico right on the Sea of Cortez. We decided not to stay in Hermosillo another day as we got everything done there we wanted to do. So came to Kino for a few days. I'm hoping we'll stay here until Monday - this is the furthest south we can pick up Direct TV and I want to watch the races over the weekend. We'll see - there isn't much to do around here kind of a quiet little place.
Another change - Bill has been drooling waiting to get her to go to Jorges restaurant across the street from the RV park - to sit out on the patio and have Huevos Rancheros for breakfast - the patio isn't open any more and they no longer serve breakfast. Did have a good dinner there last night though.
Going to try to post to the blog and add a video I took yesterday of a boat rescue but the TelCel connection is kind of iffy here way at the end of town. comes and goes a lot.
It is pretty warm here but today we are supposed to have some rain squalls - right now it is blue sky and sunny so we'll see.
You guys enjoy your RV school - sounds interesting. I ruined one of my laptops while traveling - kept it on the floor so it didn't fly off of anything then stepped on it and shattered the screen. Crap
Also have given some bad directions a couple of times. One time we ended up driving the RV on a bicycle path at night in Brazil. Glad there was no one else on it. I still hear about that one. And just last year we ended up on a deadend street in a very rundown area of Elkhart, IN - with the Alfa. Had to unhook jeep - make a many point turn then find the right way to the other side of town and it seemed every road we turned down was under construction. The GPS was yelling at me and I was tellint it to do unnatural things to itself. Just part of traveling.

Good Morning All

Glad to see everyone is getting where they are going. Sooo sorry about all the computer and cable issues. Seems like that can happen frequently.

Dawn I just dont think your Mom is as capable of navigating as you think she is. I travel alone so have to depend on myself for navigating. (well and my GPS) I check my mapquest map every so often just to make sure "Tizzy Lizzy" is doing the proper thing. If Laura (CougarFan) travels with me she is a great navigator so dont have to check as often. I think if you do something like this, your trips will be much more enjoyable for both you and your Mom. I think being on the road is just as much fun as being parked somewhere. But I always try to make sure I know what is at the end of that road!!!!

You all are headed to Boot Camp and I am looking forward to hearing all about it. I just know there are some great tips to be shared by all of you.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about all the computer problems! I swear they are physically more fragile than they used to be. It makes me nostalgic for my old Thinkpad. That one flew several feet through the air on two occasions (rowdy kids and dogs - I didn't throw it, honest!) and never missed a beat. Great machine!

We have a little sun here for a change, and I'm meeting my niece for lunch. A good day is on the way!

Potter's Creek was hell on computers. Mine was giving me problems and quit working. My son has it working but thinks the hard drive is going out. Yesterday I was trying to get caught up on reading the forum and my home computer wanted to do a Java update and then I couldn't get online. I messed with it for a couple of hours and my son tried to help me over the phone. He wanted me to bring it to him today. Last night I messed with it for 2 hours and am finally able to get on line. No telling what else I messed up but as long as I can get to the forum I'm happy. I wasn't looking forward to having to unhook all the wires and bring that heavy tower to town. Sorry about your computer Dawn. My motto is put everything in the floor because that's where it's going to end up. lol Just don't step on it. I had a giant glass of tea slide off the counter because I forgot to put it in a cup holder. What a mess.

Dawn, sorry you missed your turn in Brenham. For some reason coming South I always miss the turn but my GPS gets me back on track. Going back North it takes me through downtown. I use to be able to drive and read a map but not anymore. If I'm traveling alone I write down the highways to take, the towns I will be going through, the distance between towns and where I have to change highways. I like to know how far it is to the next town for gas and bathroom breaks.

I almost got my first speeding ticket coming across a long bridge on 190. I was doing 58 in a 55. I only got a warning. Must have been a slow day at the office or he thought he would catch some drug smugglers. Guess he was disappointed it was 2 old women and he had to stand in the rain to talk to me.

It is cool here today. We didn't have the heat on and it's 73 in the house. Good sleeping weather. It's suppose to be down to the 30's in a week. Yesterday I watered my Ficus tree and ants have gotten into the pot. Need to figure out a way to make them move before I have to bring it inside.

Everyone have a good time at the Boot Camp.
