How great it is to see the smiling faces. Food looks good too.
Did Sharon make her famous biscuits and gravy for breakfast?

The Sultan outdid himself with the soup...or as we New Mexicans call it, Green Chili Stew. Whatever you want to call it, it was outstanding! Peggy, who was nice enough to lay over a day to meet me, made cornbread to go with it, but I had it for dessert with the Kentucky....darn memory...wasn't sorghum, but similar, that she brought. It brought back memories of my gramma, so I offered to make some biscuits for breakfast so I could have some more and Lori's making gravy. It was so good to finally meet Lori and the Sultan, and the extra bonus of Peggy just added to the fun. If any of you guys get a chance to meet her, don't pass it up, she's facsinating and quite the world traveler. And a sweetheart to boot. And we all know that Lori and Ernie are great hosts!

Yes Maggie, making tracks for home, I'm kind of like a barn horse when I point Hope west, but still have 2 more places to stop before I boogie that last 300 miles or so. My sister is in Huachuca City, Az and if I can find a place to light for a night, Beth in Arizona City. If not, I'll catch her after the first of the year. She's not getting away without a visit. LOL! Besides, Evie (Pooker) might want to do a little trip to Az in her Flitter. All I have to do is mention a road trip and Evie's packed and sitting in my driveway before I can hang the phone up!

I know the sandhill cranes are migrating through the Tucson area now, so probably are also in New Mexico and they have a festival where she'll be.

Hello All
The Festival of the Cranes is a five day event, Nov 13 - 18 near Socorro, NM.
The festival offers many seminars, tours, hikes, music, and food.
I signed up for three events: Sandhill Crane Behavior, 5:30am, that's right, to 11:30 at Bosque de Apache on Thurs, a Geology Tour of Sevilleta 9:00 am to 3:00pm on Fri, and San Miguel Church Adobe Workshop 9:00am to 12pm in Socorro on Sat.
Not sure where I will stay as the few RV parks are full. The woman I registered with on the phone said there is dry camping on BLM land, and she would leave a map for me. Yikes! I think I am in for an adventure.

Cranes: dancing and otherwise
Next week I will be with the Sandhill Cranes who have an elaborate mating dance, but Readytogo's comment about construction workers reminded me of some dancing cranes at the Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis. Years ago I attended a dance performance at the Walker which had a tremendous impact on me. The dance was outdortos and the ballerinas were in cherry pickers and on contruction cranes. They were wearing floating diaphanous outfits and the crane operators were dressed in white shirts and black pants. The machines and dancers floated through the air in slow motion. I bet those construction workers/ crane operators were never the same after that. It surely changed the way I look at equipment.

...it isn't as if you can visit either Lori or The Sultan without "waddling" back to the rig after the feast....(or maybe that was just my memory of the first PA GTG I attended and my trying to make it back to walk the dogs after Ernie making "sure" my wine glass stayed too full..... :o :? (
