WINCHESTER VA TUESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WINCHESTER VA TUESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Nov 06, 2012 8:12 am

Here we are at a Flying J just north of Winchester, VA, where we spent a frigid night (got into the low 20s or high teens!) Today we will try to make Fayetteville KOA, if traffic will allow. We were to stay another truck stop in Ruther Glenn tonight, but that is too close now.

Genny is running, coffee is hot, and dogs have both pooped, so it's off we go as soon as genny cools down!

Hope everyone is having a good time, wherever you may be.

Happy travels!

Safe travels Soos! Hope it gets warmer for you today as you move south.

I woke up with an earache and clogged sinuses....lingering effects of a cold I've been battling for a week. Going to find an urgent care near my dd's as soon as I get the youngest grandson on the bus for school.

The other unpleasant task before me today is to prepare the family's cat for "funeral" /burial this afternoon. We took a very sick kitty to the vet yesterday. The vet held out little hope, but GS wanted to try some meds, so we brought her home and managed to get a dose of steroids and another med in her. She didn't rally and died during the night in the comfy bed we made for her of towels. At least the grandsons know we tried.

And so for now, I will continue to travel vicariously to Mexico and other places all of you are going.

Liz - you have a hard job to do today. And I hope you feel better soon!

Soos - I have a friend that lives in Winchester. That's a beautiful area even if it is cold! Soon you will be hitting warmer temperatures.

Thinking of Joan today as she has her surgery.

It's a gorgeous fall day here today - Sun is shining and it's supposed to be a high of 74 - woohoo! No excuse not to get out and vote, that's for sure. I will be doing that right after work.

Good Morning Soos, Liz and all,

Soos, was wondering about you last night as I watch the Weather Channel showing frigid temps all the way to GA. After that you should start warming up I hope. I'm so glad you left as there's another Nor'easter coming up the coast which is just what they need. Safe travels to you and your friend.

Liz, sorry to hear about your sinus problems. Hope you find a clnic and get that taken care of. No fun having that. And also sorry to hear about the kitty. But at least you GS knows you tried and didn't have to deal with the vet putting her down. I"m sure you will have a lovely "funeral" this afternoon after school. Are you going to be staying in FL for the winter?

As for me, got woke up at the usual a 5:30 again. Pill time for the puppers and Sassy won't let me forget it. Not to mention the fact she has a "potty" call in the middle of the night. So after pills, I put them out and went back to bed and finally rolled out around a bit before 7. Made some breakfast of hamburger, cottage and a bowl of strawberries topped with whipped cream, got dressed and headed off to the polls. Cast my votes and here I am. Polls are busy but moving right along. Was in and out in no time.

Not sure what I am getting into today. Might do some sign work as if I don't get my "Merry Christmas" sign started, the holiday will be here and gone before I finish it  Been out looking for a small 4 foot or so tree and think I found one, so will head back to that store probably tomorrow when I go in for gym class. Am kind of waiting to see if my neighbor goes back over to a small town near here for lunch. They have an all you can eat pizza luncheon on Tuesday afternoon for $5 bucks and she has been going for the past couple of weeks. Called me both times, but I was gone. Said maybe she might go again this week.

I guess like LIz, I will be traveling and enjoying the upcoing GTG's through those of you who are doing them. Sounds like the TX GTG was a success and the ladies all had a great tiime and lots of food. Looking forward to seeing what happens at the FL GTG in January.

Irmi, glad to hear that your clean up in your house is progressing. I take it you must have wood floors rather than carpeting all over? Hope this next storm heading up the coast doesn't dump a lot of precip on you guys again and that your insurance will cover the damages to ceilings etc. I know it will take a little time to get things all squared away again, but we ddo what we must and keep on going. Don't work too hard and keep us posted on your progress.

So not matter what you are all getting into today, have a nice day, travel safe on the roads out there whether it's just running around locally or across the country or in Carol's case, out of the country.

Well today is "M" day - an hour or so from now well be doing our paperwork. Then on south we go. Willie will have locking pins on the hitch and his alarm will be on Enough of that kind of excitement last year. We'll go about 200 miles to the city of Hermosillo for a couple nights (maybe) we need to get our TelCel air card up and running so we have Internet.
Keep on truckin' Soos - it will get warmer. Just drive careful.
Liz - I remember all thos funerals - one of the reasons we no longer have pets - don't want to lose one again.
Everyone else have a good day and safe travels, I'll check in tonight if we have Internet.

Good morning everyone. Getting ready to go vote!! Very important that you vote!!! Our first camping trip is officially a success. We made it back from Canyon Lake safe and sound. When we left the CG and went to the dump station had problems. There had been a drip from the sewer hose the whole time. I put a bucket out to catch it. Probably from grey water cause I used some soap and then there were bubbles coming out. We hooked up and pulled the black water valve and nothing came out. The gauge said it was full, but nothing. Open and closed valve, still nothing. The hose/water at the dump station was not working so couldn't try to flush it out. Two campers were now waiting. Then emptied the grey water and got on our way. I remembered reading on here about the ice cubes. So we stopped at the new Buckees, filled up on diesel ($2.49) and 20# ice went into the toilet. When we got closer to home we stopped at Holiday World and tried again. Yep!! Ice worked. Got it emptied and flushed out. Made an appointment to get some other little things fixed on warranty. The part of the trip that DH dreaded the most was backing into our drive way. It is a really tight turn. DH was really frustrated after many tries and was getting "testy". Luckily a neighbor with lots of trailer experience rescued me and talked DH through getting the right angle. Then success!!!

We had originally planned to fly down to Orlando to meet up with a bunch of relatives for Christmas. now that we have the 5er I suggested that instead of fighting the Xmas crowds why don't we go to Florida for January. Heard DH tell his son that we were probably going to FL for Jan. So I'm looking at the calendar and see if I can get to the FL gtg during this trip.

Now I have get up and get going. Need to clean the rig and get her ready to leave on Thursday for Escapees boot camp over at Lake Livingston. I am tired, yet excited. Everyone on the road, stay safe. Everyone else have a great day. Aloha y'all

Soos, hopefully the further south you get the warmer it will be. Sounds way too cold for me still.

Liz, hope you get to feeling better soon. I hate pet funerals as much as people funerals. I am glad you tried for your GS.

Maggie, glad you made it home safe and sound. It was so great to meet you. I still get tickled about me walking around in circles trying to figure out who was calling my name since I did not realize you had pulled in. Thank you again for the great Dutch Oven food. You are amazing.

Praying for Joan today too. She will be in my thoughts all day. Hope her daughter will post updates for us.

Today is our last day at Canyon Lake. It has been wonderful here. Now that I have the computer set up, will be loading my route planning software and camera software. I need to update my blog as I have not posted to it since we have been here. I am looking forward to Boot Camp in Livingston next. Hope to really learn a lot. I found out this morning my little cordless Shark is strong enough to clean spilled coffee out of the grout lines in my tile. One of my best buys for the MH. Makes cleanup of carpet and tile a breeze. Will spend the day today mostly getting things ready to pull out in the morning. Not really much to do with the MH. Seems easier to me than the 5th wheel was. I found a route last night on MapQuest that takes us to Livingston without having to go anywhere near Houston. I don't have enough miles under my belt yet to want to attempt Houston.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

morning to all! Been doing my laundry. Kind of over fill hahaha. Well I hate folding but don't mind the washing and drying. But folding. Eek and pairing socks. Oh. Give me a break! I now buy the same kind so when one gets a hole I have a match regardless. I know sheer case of pure unadulterated lazy !

My first thoughts are for Joan that all goes well and she'll be up and about and ready to take a road trip...

Next to all you heading into boot camp. Remember take notes Hahahaha cause from what I heard they give you lots and lots of goodies and it can run together....but if ya forget there is US. I'm sure we've done it or had it happen in all our years of RVing...hey I have a map of RV repair places in most the states in the US. ...hahaha.

I was so happy you all had a great time at the Texas GTG. In fact you'll find no matter how big or small when we an and do we always make it a good time....that's the joy of what this forum is all about....plus the "Gossip". Hahaha

Soos, glad you are getting closer. Cause we is having decent weather...and as I travel down Flying j to flying j I know son I'll be in the sunshine state. Woo hoo. Drive safe there...

Red soon hubby will get the hang of it tell him practice makes perfect....lol.

The rest of my day I'm gonna watch movies so I don't have to hear constant reminders. Gawd that drives me bonkers. And i made a big pan of brownies loaded with nuts and chocolate chips. Yeah I'm gonna need it So if ya get a hankering common over lol

Lizzie sorry to hear about the kitty..and I agree this is always a sad time but at least GS knows that he tried..and kitty went sleeping.

Now I need another cup of coffee. So hope all you traveling stay safe. And God's Blessing shine down on all

Good Morning... coffee is hot and tastes good... it is in the low 30 now and high will maybe be 41... feels more like winter to me...
My daughter came over yesterday and we went over all of my finances... she took a copy home with her so she could look at it... things are tight like for everyone...
I made goulash for our lunch and sent a huge bunch home for their dinner...
After I get awake I will get dressed and go vote... I think this will be a very heavy election so I will take my cane and Kindle along and read while I wait...
Sounds like some are on the move...
Liz sorry about the kitty... our pets are so loved it is a hard time for the boys I am sure... Soos hope you used your furnace to keep warm... soon you will be in the sunny land... Red glad your trip went well... and Dawn you carry some of your family with you that helps so you don't get lonely...
Well I need to get moving... take care everyone no matter where your feet take you...

Carols on the road yeah, time for our Mexican vacation with her and The Driver :!: :!: Loved the amazing pictures of the San Xavier mission thank you Carol.

My thoughts are also with Joan this morning and praying for a speedy recovery. Soos you will be in the land of sunshine soon just keep on truckin! Liz sorry to hear you aren't feeling well and that you had to help with the sad task of helping you GS's get through the loss of their kitty. Even though it is hard to let go each time, I can't imagine life without at least one dog but I think I always keep more than one so I'm not without a furry friend.

Hope all who are traveling have good weather and a safe journey.

The San Xavier Mission is one of my favorites. Always go there when staying in the Tucson area. It's definitely on my list to get there this winter again. Thanks for sharing your pics, Carol. The purse I'm carrying now I got there a few years back.

Lazy day for me today. Nothing really planned - other than going out for ice cream sometime.
