Dutch Ovens. Plural??? That does it. Maggie, you have to figure out a way to fit the FL GTG into your schedule.

She has got an amazing setup--three dutch ovens in various sizes in their carrying cases. Then she has one of those things where you pile in your briquettes to get them started. She puts coals down on a metal platform, puts the ovens on the coals, puts the food in the oven, and then more coals on top of the lids.

She even put a small oven on top on a larger one and its coals and cooked them both at the same time!!

I took a couple of photos I will post on the TX GTG site later tonight. Got to finish my laundry and eat dinner right now.

It was really amazing!

OK, check out the separate thread for photos for the Texas GTG for the Dutch oven demonstration photos.

Actually - I had 4 of my 5 camp Dutch ovens (the ones with the legs) - I just didn't use one of them. I have one more of the biggest size I left at home and then I have one that doesn't have legs that's good for cooking on a camp stove or you can hang on a tripod over a fire.

Maggie, it was amazing what you could do with the Dutch Ovens! I am still upset I didn't get any of your dump cake. I will make sure I get some right from the get go next time. That way I won't miss out. I will make sure I am first in line.

I was so hoping to make it to the GTG, but think I will be staying on past Christmas here at Amazon :( I WANT the fun, but I NEED the money!!! They say it will be through Jan and, possibly, into Feb. If not, then I will still do my best to make it. I so need to get out of the red and into the black

Just wanted to let everyone know I have the Women's RV Banner to bring to the FL GTG. Cannot wait to meet new people and see people I have met here at the TX GTG again.

BJ, with Belle you never know for sure what might be up. In her case maybe a little "metal" surgery :o ..... She is probably in witness protection herself after that last trip. 8-) Maybe she is saving up her pennies to find her own RV :) .....this living on the kindness of others may not be working out like she planned....

I think she must be hiding something.....

Hi,
My name is Jean. I joined several months ago but am just beginning my first journey. I will be going from Phoenix to Florida over a period of Dec - Jan and would like to join up for the Fl GTG but am not sure how to proceed. Are there any reservations left? Do I contact the Park reservation office to find out or this Forum? Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi and welcome. I made my reservations through FloridaStateParks.org. It is for the Hillsborough River SP. I don't know about any sites left but if there are, be sure and make your reservations. We would love to meet you.

Welcome Jean! Click on this link, then on the link for camping reservations on the right hand side. http://www.floridastateparks.org/hillsboroughriver/

As of today there are sites available for at least part of the gtg dates. Site 77, for example, starting Jan. 30. Others are available Jan. 27-29, so you might have to change sites, but could still reserve for the entire time.

Jean, hope that you can get a site/s.... :) Know that those of us that have reservations are scattered across several loops, so it isn't as if we are lined up in a row. And if you have already read through the thread you know that we are coming and going on different dates, so when ever you can make it over to the park you will at least meet up with some of us. Look forward to sitting around a campfire with you.
