:) Thank you so much, Carol.... I appreciate the message a lot especially as I was privately employed.... There are no well wishers for me or retirement parties and that is ok ... Just feels so anti-climactic in a way.

You made a comment that this might take awhile to sink in - it will. I don't know if you were a workaholic like I was -but I headed out on the road full-time and was treating my travel like a job - and like I always had to be somewhere NOW LOL - it took me quite awhile to realize - I DIDN'T - I could relax and take my time - and I really could stop and smell the roses.

If you do nothing else - take that time - enjoy it - and yes, congrats on your retirement.

Am I missing something? How do you know Islandmomma is retiring? Where is the post? I'm out of the loop! Congrats anyway, Islandmomma. As Beth said, give yourself time to adjust. I've been fulltiming for three years, but everytime my situation changes (I work in the summer) I have to go through a mental adjustment. But is it ever worth the effort!

Congratulations !!!!!! What a wonderful way to start out a New Year. After working for so long, you may feel at first like you have too much time on your hands, then before you know it, you won't have enough time to do all that you want to. Enjoy and do the things you've wanted to for ages, Retirement really grows on you fast :D

You will LOVE retirement!!! Your mantra: What's the hurry? I'm retired.

I was like Beth, HAD to drive so many miles a day or get somewhere by a certain time. I like to take a nap around 3pm and on my last trip I finally figured out I could stop and take a little nap if I wanted to. "What's the hurry? I'm retired." If I don't do it today I can do it tomorrow. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
