Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good morning all...Only now finished reading posts from yesterday. Miss a day, miss a lot! :( I'm happy for good doggie news--Ms Reba & Dinah. :D Soos, sorry to hear of Joe & his family emergencies...however, great pix of Orion's bday! :P I think we'll need to wait to meet in FL. I've decided to take a Fall trip to the midwest beginning this wkend for 10 days. Even tho I'll be staying at homes of friends/fam (parked in their yards or driveways), it'll be like REAL camping! YIPPEE! ...COLD is the word of the day for most everyone it seems, so I have hot coffee here for everyone! The rain stopped yesterday afternoon, & I was able to get into the yard to begin removing the remants of the garden. Will be completing that project today, as the rain seems to be taking a break til later in the day! SNOW on the weather map :o --did it hit anyone's area last night???? Hope y'all are staying toasty warm! :) Y'all have a blessed day, & yes, as Soos reminds everyone, take time to cherish the loved ones that are here today! (BTW, I'm reading the "Ella" book! GREAT! Yep, it does take more time & effort to compose a msg, trying not to employ a certain letter!  I hesitated at being the "opener" for this morning's MC, & even considered breaking the tradition of having the day of the week in the "title" line!!!! Yet, here I am, replacing the necessary letter with the "-" :P  )

Yes it is chilly here in Ohio, too. A friend and I changed our plans from earlier in the week. She had wanted to go kayaking yesterday but because of the shift in the weather we changed that "jello." There will be some warmer kayaking days left even for here. This is her first year of retirement (from teaching 35 years) and she is enjoying her freedom. Remi and Stuart decided that if I wasn't going kayaking then I should take them for the "Stroll for the Strays" at the local Humane Shelter. We made it 3 miles walking through crunchy fall leaves through Lebanon.... Remi did not like the scary banner that he thought was going to attack him so we did choose some of our own streets instead of following the other folks and their lunging labs and shepherds.... :?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Time for some hot tea here.....

good morning ladies
slept good last night and feel so rested am ready to start the day. I didn't do any of my chores yesterday so guess thats the agenda for today. Don't
have an awful lot of laundry to do but I always strip the bed and do the linens and of course there are the uniform shirts. One more week of work and
we're off for fall break. I usually sign up to work extra during fall break as we don't get paid but decided not to this year. Although my paycheck will be
short, I'm in a good spot to enjoy some leisure time. I like to think of it as my practice for retirement
Its hard to wrap my head around ya'll having cold weather already, since we had such a hot summer here and the cold hasn't hit us yet, I think my brain
is stuck in summer mode. That will change soon as I have to wear my jacket when I leave in the mornings for work.
Beth should be landing in AZ very soon. Will take a day during my break to drive down and visit for a few hours. Might even look at some rv's at the
auction yard there. ( Crankyape.com )
The girls are up and asking for breakfast, have enjoyed the coffee and about ready for another cup. Ya'll have a great day and be safe. Stay warm.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

It warmed up slightly after it got below freezing at about midnight---it's way up to 43 degrees here now! But the skies are still very grey and the leaves are now turning darker as the blow off for the winter.

I need to go inside and get some coffee and a bagle for breakfast, and I am hoping the kids are up already. They had some company last night, and I was sound asleep by the time they pulled out. It's good for them to get together with their friends, as they really have no close friends in their hometown. I so wish we could have gotten that property next door as they would have moved back here, I believe. Oh well----things will work out.

Hope to finally get to meet you in FL this winter, Carol! Maybe you should make a reservation for the January GTG! Or, we coyuld just meet somewhere down there, like at my son's property.

The stroll for the strays sounds like a great thing to do, Tina. Maybe we could start something like that here in Saranac Lake another year.

I hope you will all have a good October day finding something outstanding to remember.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

I'm up and listening to my little one (see Pets) barking at the cloud of steam coming from the furnace exhaust. He doesn't miss a thing! It has been very interesting to say the least around here since we brought him home. Not everyone is happy to have a new little mouthy brother. He and Winnie have already had a few altercations and sweet little Andy is just intimidated. I figure they will sort it out but I do step in when they really get into it. I have my work cut out for me.
I feel good this morning, for the first time since I got back from the GTG. I had to take a sulfa medication for a UTI and it did not agree with me, it has taken several days to get it out of my system I don't do well with meds at all!
The sun is out but it is only around 45 degrees, a bit brisk but supposed to warm up to around 70 over the next few days which will be perfect for me.
Glad your going on a real trip Carol, ten days should give you a good idea of what it is all about! Hope you get a good day to take you kayak out soon Tina.
Everyone have an enjoyable day, hope your weather is pretty as ours today. The leaves are really getting a lot of color but nothing to compare with Soos beautiful picture!!

Good morning! And I made it for morning coffee...just need to buy some creamer next time I am at the store. I got 3 things done on my "to do" list for yesterday but the big job (receipts for August and September) are still waiting to be touched  so not my favorite thing.

Hubby told me last night as I was going to bed that he wanted to take me out for breakfast this morning - we got free coupons (love the perks we get as managers here in Branson) and then maybe we will go for a short drive before returning to start work at 1 p.m.

We think Ron's aunt & uncle will be here later this afternoon - you know how travel plans are made in jello :D :D

Well hubby is looking at me in that tone...like "woman get up, I'm hungry

Have a great day everyone!!!

Morning all...
Carol, You're probably the first one up each day & I love seeing your posts (when I finally get to them). I looked closely for 'ews' thinking maybe you had it fixed... guess not. :(

And Birdbybird (Christine?), just read your blog about Herschel - sounds like he was a wonderful companion. I know this is late, but so sorry for your loss. I have a 15 year-old GS - rescued her when she was around 4 & 'with pup'. She delivered 6 little ones about 2 months after we got her - they have already passed on but she's still with us- we call her the miracle dog. :D I especially liked how you showed Herschel teaching Remi & Stuart all the things dogs need to know... It was a beautiful tribute to what was obviously a pretty special friend. :)

It's cold down here in KS (not like in the north) but chilly for this early in the season. I got paranoid & plugged in my van with a little electric heater going all night. Upper 20's may not require this, but I'm still new & didn't want to take any chances. Daytime temps will be getting back up to the 50 -60's but I wonder if I should consider winterizing now. I don't have any real camping trips planned just daytime tripping when possible. Made some headway in cleaning up the garage yesterday. Have a lot more to go today - if I can stay focused & 'just do it'. Need to force myself to 'let this stuff go' - especially stuff the kids have left in the basement. Having the van & listening to you all really help the cause. :D

Guess I'll go & turn off the heater now - sun is shining brightly. And then take a walk & then resume work on the garage. Hope everyone has a great day! Stay safe.

Good Morning,

A cloudy cool 58 F here this morning. It should warm up to 72 F later in the day and hopefully sunny.

It should be pleasant weather to get my mowing of the yards done this afternoon. This will be a nice change (cool while mowing). :D

Have a great day!

Catherine, thanks you for your kind Herschel comments. We are still missing the quiet gentle presence of the big dog here in Ohio.

In de-stuffing the house here I found that the "kid's stuff" was some of the hardest to let go. I have finally gotten them to go through most of their tubs and I have no twinges when they throw out or pass on some of the usual stuff that they never actually saved on purpose. But there are all the "mother things" that I had saved only to realize that they really don't care about most of that stuff either. ( I have been warned not to expect any grandchildren....so it isn't that the next generation will find it interesting either.) Maybe I have two very independent kids who have already come to realize in their thirties that old "stuff" can be a sweet memory without being a weighty box to drag around with you.... :)

This realization that life can be lived quite pleasantly and successfully in small spaces has allowed me to sort through piles of both my father's things and my step mother's belongings in recent years. I did warn my brother that I was not planning to help sort out his belongings after he passed. :o He is a collector of mementos....his and everything of my fathers that I could find..... But it makes him happy....I would rather travel through life lighter..... :)

It's still morning....yes!!
Oh, Soos, thanks so much for the photo of the trees changing.....I do miss the colors of the maple trees....makes me a little homesick...fall and spring are my favorite times of the year "up home"...

It's cooler here today, too....53F right now. (8am MT time)....Highs suppose to only get to low 70s today.....so fall is coming to the southwest....Only thing we have planned for today is the NASCAR Race....so it will be a lazy Sunday....

Okay, off to read more....have a great day, all.....

Good morning all! The cool weatyher i said yesterday hadnt arrived now has. Havent checked yet to see how warm ir will be later. Many people going out to the big Nascar race at Talladega today, at least it's not supposed to rain (I don't think). Today would have been (or is) mmineand husbands 45th anniversary. Am not dwelling on it, but have some flowers to take to the cemetary. Seems a lifetime ago! Pillow report: the My Pillow is worth the money. Slept in and no stiff neck. Got one because a friend of mine has one and loves it, friend who is very picky. Went to a thing called Southen Womens Show where they had a booth so spent some other money, to get in and park and a couple of other things, but hey we all deseerve a fun day. You all have one today, and if on the road, keep it between the lines! Wendy

It's only supposed to get up to 54 here in Arkansas...way to cold for me! But at least there's supposed to be some sun with it. It does make for good sleeping weather, tho. I dug the down comforter out from the under bed storage a couple of nights ago. One of the best investments I think I've ever made! Keeps me toasty without having to run a heater. Chewy and the Samcat appreciated my efforts, too. It's supposed to be mid 60's tomorrow and then mid 70's by Tuesday. I can live with that.

The mention of Herschel brought tears to my eyes again...I think he touched everyone he met and I was honored to have met him.

You guys are really inspiring me to start de-cluttering when I get home, but there's the Thanksgiving in the dunes trip for 10 days, and then New Years in the dunes for 10 days, and then Q for a week in Jan and a couple of motorcycle trips Feb and March.....sigh. Gasoline and a match?? Nah, probably couldn't get away with that.

The great grandbaby is in the house, grandma watches her on w/e's, so guess I better get dressed and mosey on over there and see what's up. (A whole 25 feet, son wanted to keep me close to keep an eye on me  ) I bought her some Leap Frog books for her birthday last month not realizing that the "reader" didn't come with it. I ordered it off of Amazon, it came while I was in Tunica with the girls and now I find out you have to download the books onto the "reader thingy". Guess what I'm doing today?

Have a great day all and try a little Zydeco music to get ya moving!! Works around here!

Big hugs to you Wendy, another tough day in this life we call widder-hood. Tried that pillow and sent it back, it felt lumpy and I couldn't sleep on it. Tried it for a week to see if it would get better, but it just got worse. I'm still on a search for the perfect pillow, but haven't found it yet. sigh.

Pretty chilly here this morning also. I've got a few more things to put in the rv, then we're heading to TX. I've been thinking all along that today was when Daylight Savings started, I was excited that we'd have another hour of daylight. Then last night I got to thinking, why has there been nothing on the news or newspaper about it, usually they start warning everybody days ahead. I went back and looked at my calender and Daylight Savings starts today in Australia!

Morning everyone. It's 48 here this morning and so still have the furnace going. Turned the fireplace on when I got up this morning again. Luke loves it. He gets in the doggy bed in front of it and stays there all day. The heat blows on him where he is laying. He will be 9 in December and I think his bones may be getting to where they enjoy the extra heat.

I got tickled at Toby Tyler this morning. Mom's little dog, Bitsey, is the tyrant in our rig. He will growl when Luke or Rascal come into the livingroom area. We have been working on stopping that because Luke had gotten to where he just would stay on the far side of my bed in the bedroom. It is nice seeing him coming into the livingroom area again. Rascal mostly stays laying on my bed unless I am sitting on the couch. Then he will jump up there to lay down beside me. Belle could care less about what Bitsey is doing. She is the only one who stands up to him. Belle is going to be whereever I am at and she will let Bitsey know it in a heartbeat.

It's going to be a quiet day, I hope. Have to go to the grocery store at some point, but I need to get dressed first. Still sitting here in my PJ's and bathrobe. Figure I will get up and get moving when I finish my coffee.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.
