Sharing ideas and talking things through with others is the thing that makes us better RVers. Now that's my opinion and yep I am sticking to it.

Good news. I drove for a couple of hours yesterday with the black tank half full, and then drove up and down hills today for three hours with 3/4 of a tank. When I got back this afternoon I used the dump site and I could tell by the "gusher" sound that the tank emptied well.

So, when I got back to my site, I used a lot of the water in the fresh water tank to put a bunch of clean water in the black tank before I hooked up my shore water.

Hopefully, the problem is solved. whew.

You go girl! My worst clog was when one of my grandkids flushed a large piece of cellophane from a cupcake or something. Chuck and I were camping in Oklahoma and I was seeing water backing up in the comode. I knew we should have a good black tank so did not know what was going on. Went outstide to drain thinking since it had been a while since we used the 5er, maybe it had not been drained. Pulled the lever and not much coming out. Hooked up the hose to use the black tank flush. Still nothing. Went back inside. Still water backed up in the pipe. Only thing I could think of was a plumbers snake. Went to Walmart and got one. Took 2 hours of snaking the comode, but finally the snake caught on the celophane and brought it out. I still had the black tank lever open and was sure glad to hear that swooshing sound as it finally emptied completely out. Then I had the mess in the bathroom to clean out. I sure learned a lesson about letting the grandkids stay in the rig without any supervision. By this time of his life, Chuck could not help in any way to get this done but he sure was proud of me for fixing the problem. He just had to brag to our friends we were camping beside.

When we first started RV'ing, we drained too often too. It did not take very long to learn that lesson either. Thank goodness for our friends who explained the mysteries of black water tanks to us.
