We are expecting

Our 'adoption' papers were approved and this little guy will soon be joining our home. He is a Miniature Poodle, 10 months old, obedience trained, potti trained, neutered, all shots current, now if he will just like his new home!! He will arrive on Delta Dash hopefully this weekend from a show kennel in MN. I don't intend to show and think he must have not been up to show standards to be for sale at this age,but the woman who breeds these dogs has a degree in genetics and tries to breed as carefully as possible so the dogs don't have a lot of the genetic problems many develop. I know that is no guarantee as none of the dogs where I got Charley had bloated until his sire. I would much rather have another Standard but can't stand the thought of constantly watching for signs of bloating as you have 30 minutes to get them to the vet, then the chances are very slim that they will survive. I'm sure Charley, who bloated three times, once after surgery to suture his stomach so it wouldn't twist. Besides grooming a big dog gets harder as the years advance! The place he comes from keeps very few dogs so he has been raised inside their home.

What a cutie! We had a pocket poodle or teacup - never can keep those two straight - when I was in high school. She was a stray that my dad's best friend found and gave to us. She had the sweetest disposition, letting my youngest sister dress her up like a baby doll. But she could and did hog my double bed!!! She would sleep in the curve of my back, so I could only roll over one way, usually to the edge.

CONGRATS, BJ! What a cute little 4-footer he is! I love poodles when they are alowed to wear the puppy cut rather than that icky-looking French Poodle cut that makes them look so grotesque, in my opinion. (Now watch you get him a cut like that and I will feel bad...???? Nope, I won't! I love the way his hair is cut right now so there!)

Lucky little dog to get you as his adoptive mama!

So excited for you and for the puppy to have found such a good home. The older they are the harder it is for a breeder to let go, I think.

Now to watch as he trains you....

We are thinking of naming him Toby Tyler but may wait and see if that fits.

And yes Tina, I'm sure he will have me trained in no time. Winnie and Andy will tell him what a push-over I am
