Our 'adoption' papers were approved and this little guy will soon be joining our home. He is a Miniature Poodle, 10 months old, obedience trained, potti trained, neutered, all shots current, now if he will just like his new home!! He will arrive on Delta Dash hopefully this weekend from a show kennel in MN. I don't intend to show and think he must have not been up to show standards to be for sale at this age,but the woman who breeds these dogs has a degree in genetics and tries to breed as carefully as possible so the dogs don't have a lot of the genetic problems many develop. I know that is no guarantee as none of the dogs where I got Charley had bloated until his sire. I would much rather have another Standard but can't stand the thought of constantly watching for signs of bloating as you have 30 minutes to get them to the vet, then the chances are very slim that they will survive. I'm sure Charley, who bloated three times, once after surgery to suture his stomach so it wouldn't twist. Besides grooming a big dog gets harder as the years advance! The place he comes from keeps very few dogs so he has been raised inside their home.
