Humana drug program

Postby retiredhappy » Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:48 am

Okay, I've had AARP's drug program for years and I'm totally fed up with dealing with AARP. For next year they've lowered my monthly premium by $1.00 WHOOPEE but they've moved one of my drugs from Tier 2($8.00 for 3 mo supply) to Tier 3 ($105 for 3 mo supply). That's it - I'm done with them.

Now I'm looking for another drug plan and am looking at Humana. Do any of you have Humana and if so, what has been your experience with them?

I spend almost three hours on the computer trying to compare different plans. If they tried, they could make it more confusing.

I have Humana Medicare and Drug plan - since April.

They finally got my Rx order right - 3rd time is a charm I guess. The first one was a comedy of errors because I was leaving Arizona; the 2nd they only sent 1 of the 3 and I had ordered on their phone system.

When it is time for a refill, a recording calls you. If you call back, a recording recognizes you and completes the order. But there's a glitch if you have more than one Rx - they only call about one and fill one - at least that is what happened in June. I'll either use Internet or make a phone call next time.

Otherwise, mail order prescriptions are free depending on the tier. When I had to have them filled in Alaska, I paid $6 for one and $80 for one. The WalMart pharmacy is linked with Humana and knew exactly what my portion was when I picked up the Rx

With my learning better how they work, I think it will all be a piece of cake from here on. Their reps have been very nice, helpful and speak English.

I have a great insurance rep and he researches everything for his clients on a personal level. I trust his judgment completely and he advised me to go with Humana and so far I have been very satisfied.
