T-esday, with no "yew"

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

T-esday, with no "yew"

Postby carolb » Tue Sep 25, 2012 4:27 am

Good morning ladies! In case yo- haven't gotten the word, I lost my "yew" key (raindrops on my laptop before I realized it!)...It's a challenge to write sans "yews," trying to find words that don't have them! So I'm inserting a dash wherever I need a "yew"--hope yo- can fig-re it o-t! :? Anyway, I had to catch -p after missing the past few days. Wishing good health to all who are in need--again 2 and 4-legged friends! This morning, it's a smoothie for breakfast--really have never made one, b-t I have a banana that's too ripe to eat, and my bro bo-ght me a new blender, so I'll give it a try. Yesterday, I slept til 6:30!!! Was wakened by the phone to s-b. Today, I take my HarBor for state inspection and oil change. Depleted my fresh water tank the last moment of my camping weekend, so it's a good time to "winterize" and empty my other tanks. Will take containers of water for my next trip to see SOOS! Yes, Soos, I got yo-r PM :P , b-t no way co-ld I fig-re o-t the directions after I got to the link! So I sent a PM back to yo-, and wondering if yo- got it???? Sent my phone no...And again, to those of yo- who sent bday wishes, THANKS so m-ch!!! Celebrating still--dinner tonight with a sis who j-st got into town yesterday! ...Wishing all a very wonderf-l day, good health, and happy travels! :D ...CarolB (aka "the bag lady" )

Yo- ;) have got to read a book called "Ella Minnow Pea: A Novel in Letters" by Mark Dunn! In a way it corresponds to your exact situation!

Description: "Ella Minnow Pea is a girl living happily on the fictional island of Nollop off the coast of South Carolina. Nollop was named after Nevin Nollop, author of the immortal pangram, “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” Now Ella finds herself acting to save her friends, family, and fellow citizens from the encroaching totalitarianism of the island’s Council, which has banned the use of certain letters of the alphabet as they fall from a memorial statue of Nevin Nollop. As the letters progressively drop from the statue they also disappear from the novel. The result is both a hilarious and moving story of one girl’s fight for freedom of expression, as well as a linguistic tour de force sure to delight word lovers everywhere."

The whole book is written as individual correspondence between the characters. Once the letters start dropping from the statue it starts getting wild/funny/and sad see how communication becomes a HUGE issue. So much so that it becomes a seriouscrime if anyone is caught using the falling letters!

GOOD MORNING CAROLB, T, BARBZEE, AND ALL!

I did get your phone number, Carol, and will call you when I think you might be ready for a call this morning----perhaps right after I close this message.

T, I would love to read that book! It sounds like a wonderful story, and I will look for it. Welcome to the group, in case I haven't yet welcomed you----hope to hear from you regularly now! Shall I call you just "T"?

Barbzee, I read your account of how you really must have the surgery for Ms Reba, and I surely do understand. Difficult thing to do, but much worse to not do it. I will be thinking of you both and sneding healing powers your way.

43 degrees here now...not as cold as yesterday.

My blood pressure was lower than it's ever been yesterday when I returned to my old stand-by family doctor....perhaps because I know him and respect him and trust him. We decided to let me keep on with the statins and blood pressure meds I take right now, as both my cholesterol levels and blood pressure are good enough for me to live a long time more! And my liver and kidney functions are perfect. He also gave me a couple of samples of Symbicort inhalers which I can use once or twice a day to help my damaged lungs breathe better. I got all my prescriptions refilled for 6 months (90 days per refill), and will see him again when I return in the spring. All in all, a good day at the doc's.

When I got back here, Jack White (one of our more silent members) had arrived and was setting up for a couple of days rest before heading to the Plattsburgh music fest with us. Good to see him and have company again. He told me my furnace would work on 12 volts, so I tried it, and sure enough! It worked like a charm! I was thinking I would have to run my generator quite often to stay warm over this next weekend using my electric heater. Now that I know I can use my furnace, I can charge my batteries in the mornings and in the evenings with my generator.

I'm not sure how these pictures will look, as I have lost my favorite photo editing program, Photoshop Elements, on this computer. I miss it terribly. I have no clue how big these will be until I preview this.

I hope you all have a great day doing something fun----I will continue with outside chores until the rain showers show up tomorrow.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning and happy T-esday. I took my early morning walk with Tyler. First one since June. It's just been too dang hot all summer. It is so pretty out in the morning and the trees are turning colors. Soos, I love those pictures. You can't imagine what is was like to experience my first fall and spring here in TX. I know that SE TX doesn't have the extreme changes as the North, but I've lived my whole life at the beach in SoCal, then Hawaii where the seasons almost go unnoticed. I just love the drastic changes :P

Tyler gets me up about 6 to let him out. He usually does his business and comes right back in. It is very seldom I'm able to go back to sleep. About an hour latter, I feed him and then he spends time patrolling the homeland. Now I'm thinking about the RV life and how it is going to be. Up at 6, throw clothes on, put the leash on and pray I don't break my neck falling down the steps. No way I will be able to go back to sleep after that :(

DH decided to name his new truck Walter....as in The comedian ventriloquist Jeff Dunham's dummy, Walter....a bald old fart with an acid sense of humor. In fact my DH even looks like Walter. My daughter (youngest of the Seattle daughters) arrives tomorrow for a week long visit. I'm excited to see her. We usually just spend time hanging out...catching up on chick flicks, mani-pedi, massage, museums, etc. However, if this deal for the cream puff 5ver goes through, we might be driving to MS to pick it up this weekend. So DD will need to decide if she wants to go with us on a road trip, or stay at our place and house and dog sit :P Either way, she gets a break from the boyfriend that has custody of his 5 yr old kid.

Off to search the cupboard for breakfast. I probably need to go grocery shopping !! Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha

Soos - I'm so jealous of your views, especially now with Mother Nature showing her colors. We don't see much color around her although I have a Shumard red oak that does try to put on a show for me in late October/November. He's just a youngster and doesn't have any other trees helping so it's not quite the same :D

Counting down to when I can go camping again. It's supposed to rain Thursday/Friday here so maybe not a good weekend.

Happy T-esday! Got up waaay early (5 a.m. MDT) to the sound of steady rain. Love it.

My volunteer gig up here has ended and my loop is closed. Day before yesterday I moved to a new site until I can get some odd ends tied up. While I was backing the MH in, a vicious rock leapt out and bit the front bumper. The new site is wooded & beside a gurgling creek. Very nice. The ranger says I can stay until the snow flies if I want. May be sooner than I think.

I turned in my cart and all of my camp host stuff yesterday. A couple of guys helped load my scooter onto the trailer. It needs to go back to the shop and the ATV trailer is full the flotsam and jetsom from my home sale. I need to decide -- again -- what to keep or toss. But I'm making progress.

Today I need to take my CRV in for the fourth attempt at fixing the a/c. Absolutely need air to go to St. George (Utah, for the forum newcomers). It's in the mid 80s to low 90s there right now. The down side -- it'll take 5 hours to replace the compressor and I don't know if I'll have a ride there and back.

But these are all luxury problems. Life is good.

Good morning all - Cold and rainy morning here in central Indiana with more rain to come for next few days. At least it is warming up a little. Almost had to tie Bill down to keep him from heading to Mexico with the cold weather here. Had frost on the ground yesterday a.m. He just cooked breakfast - egg beaters, little red and yellow peppers, onions, chorizo all mixed up. Warm and filling.
Didn't pick up the Alfa yesterday, had to stay home and watch a soccer game instead. Besides it will be raining for most of the week so he wouldn't be working out in it anyway.
Today waiting for the freezer repairman - only been three weeks since I put in the repair call. Love living out here in the middle of nowhere. Los Angeles, Las Vegas I miss you.
Also waiting for some deliveries of stuff ordered on the net. Stuff that is not available around here. Basic stuff like Bills favorite lollipops and some stained glass supplies.
It's time to start cleaning house good for winter and making lists of what we need to buy to take with us cause its hard to find in Mexico = like Earl Grey tea, Bakers sugar, and some over counter pharmacutical supplies - Nyquel for one. And papaya enzymes to help digestion.
Going down to my sewing room now to work on a quilt I started a couple of years ago. Won't finish it this year either but will keep plugging away on it.
Stay well and travel safe.

Gotta read the "Ella" book! ....YAHOO, connected with Soos! She got my # (didn't have to -se a "yew" to spell "n-mber" ) and called while I was at the shop! Great to connect!!! :D She and I will have a GTG somewhere, somehow before she heads so-th!!! Loved talking to yo- Soos!....More good news is that my local mechanic said HarBor is in excellent condition!!! :P Dodge dealer in FL checked it o-t, b-t always wonder if he was in cahoots with the RV dealer  My mechanic greased a few joints--HB was starting to moan. Maybe he was groaning abo-t the cooler/cold weather here--he was a FL rv all his life. 8-) Anyway, driving him back home, he was q-iet as a mo-se again! ... :( Pa-lette? Yo- lost yo-r Bailey? I'm so so sorry. Didn't see that post, so forgive me if I'm delayed in offering my condolences....Off to dice -p more maters--almost DONE with them! :D Have a great day y'all!

Red...who ever told yo- that yo- were req-ired to get dressed at 6 dark hundred (or 6 light h-ndred for that matter  ) to potty dogs? Wait -ntil you get to the some of the campgro-nds.....there is no o-tdoor dress req-irement. That was it is m-ch easier to potty dog/s....potty self....and crawl back into bed. :)

The "no dress code" is exactly why I bought an ahhh bra to wear to sleep in! It's not a pretty sight in the morning for anyone to see me walking around without a bra of some sort on...even if the sweatshirt is over it all!

Thanks for all the hugs...I'm really missing her today. Every time I look somewhere I remember 'that was her favorite place to lay on the deck' or in the bathroom, or by the front door...I know that time will heal the hole...but right now it is gaping!

It's still morning -- at least by a few minutes! -- so good morning, everyone.

I too am going to have to read the Ella book. What an interesting premise! Sorry about your keyboard, Carol; I have that problem from time to time as well. Sometimes popping off the keypad and getting everything really dry underneath helps.

I'm waiting for that gorgeous fall color here. It's coming closer!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Well? I intended it to be a "good morning" post..... but I got to reading all the other morning posts and that was that! Oh well, it's close enough that I'm gonna call it good!

Temps so far are great today. Sitting here with the fan on and the door open. Tho I would guess when Kelly gets back from her cleaning that she will shut the door and turn on the A/C. She did that yesterday. Speaking of yesterday? Boy the running around that I did totally wiped me out. I was dragging yesterday afternoon and about 4 or 4:30 I laid down and ended up taking a 3 1/2hrs nap. Then because that wasn't enough I sat here on the laptop and fell back asleep. Went to bed at about 1:30am this morning and once I laid down I was a goner!!! And then I didn't get up until almost 11am this morning. Now days I lead such an exciting life! :| I really shouldn't complain tho, at least I am alive and living..... :|

Have morning running to do today tho. Need to get a letter that Kelly has to write up stating that she is helping to pay my bills and which ones she is paying. David is doing up his own letter stating the same information. These are for the hospital for assistance on the whopping bill that my 10 day stay in ICU generated. With not working and not having any idea when I might be allowed to go back to work or even if I will be able to??? I need help with the hospital bill. Had to get a handicap parking placard> Have used it too. It sure did come in handy when I stopped at WalMart yesterday and did not have to park way down in the lot!!! Got approved for some food stamps yesterday, thank goodness!!! Not much but every little bit helps. Gads I hate being in this position!!! I am thankful every single day for my kids!!! But sure do hate having had to rely on them for everything!!! I will talk to the doctor again on Wednesday and see if she can give any idea at all if and when I might be able to look forward to getting back to some kind of work. OK, enough about this crap!

Was looking at the FL GTG list. WOW it is really gonna be something. Sure do have a lot of Sistahs signed up and most all of them are camping. WooHoo! If they all get to partying hardy it's gonna be wild! Better work at pumping up that bail fund. I think I have $.30 sitting here on the table somewhere that I can chip in. ;)

Enough of flapping my fingers!!! Hope everyone has an awesome day and remembers to be safe.

Paulette, am so, so sorry to read that you have lost your furbaby. It sure does leave a huge hole. Baily will be waiting for you on the other side!!!
Zee? She knew just who to call for the yummies needed!!!
Carolb and Soos will be having a mini GTG of their own in a short time. YAY!
Red? I keep a 'sun dress' real handy for those early morning and late night P excursions. (shhhhhh, don't tell but I don't wear jammies!)  ;) But the sun dress covers everything up neatly! Even without a bra!
Soos! Those are beautiful pictures. There sure are times that I miss living in upstate NY but I sure don't miss the cold and ice!!!
Zee, dinner sound extra yummie, what time should I be there? Poor Ms Reba!! She'll either be gobbling that food or running from Mom's spoon! Reminds me of Shade, every time she sees any kind of hair brush in our hands she runs away!!!

Love to all

Soos, loved the pictures you posted of the changing colors. I really have missed that living in Texas all these years. We generally went from green to brown to no leaves.

Paulette, I am so sorry to hear about your Bailey. We love them so much and they are so much company, it is really hard when they pass.

Red, at 1:00 this morning when Belle decided it was time to go out, there was no way I was going to get dressed. Took them all out in my new nighttime wear. Chuck's lounge pants and one of his size 3X tee shirts. Nothing to see in those.  If I go out after the sun is coming up, I do put a bathrobe over it.

Barb, went with Mom to doctor yesterday. He is going to send her to vascular surgeon to see if they can close off some of the small veins that are causing her edema problem. He said sodium was not the culprit, so no sense in putting her on another diaretic or increasing her Lasix. He did prescribe compression hose. We went to medical supply and she got two pair. I put them on her. Within a couple hours, she had them pulled halfway down. She said they were too painful. Within another hour or so, she had taken them off as she said they were uncomfortable. I blew my stack! I asked her how she thought it was going to work for her to travel with me if she won't do what the doctors tell her to do to make her edema better. Her legs are now weeping since she has so much fluid in them. She won't walk because it is too hard on her. She won't keep her feet up because it hurts her knees. She won't sleep with pillows under her legs because it is not comfortable. I told her when I took her on for this new lifestyle, I understood I was going to have to care for her 24/7 but she was going to have to help herself some. She cannot just sit in the chair hour after hour and not get up and move. Told her all she did was complain about how much her legs hurt and how much her back hurt, but she was not willing to do anything to help the situation. She put her shoes on and got ready to leave. I told her, as usual, rather than talk something out, she was just running away from it. She has done that all her life. She said if she said what she thought, I would never speak to her again and out the door she went. I know she thinks I am too hard on her, but I want her to get better, not keep going downhill. She called Paul and told him that she wanted him to come get her purse so she could go rent an apartment. Paul talked her into staying with him. Paul came over to get her pajamas, etc. He said he knew my blow up was coming. He had been living with her while we were getting ready to leave and the same things were getting to him. He used to come to my house to vent. I am just the most vocal in my family. Maybe from living with my Italian for 33 years. He agrees with me and said he was going to convince Mom that she cannot live by herself. She definitely needs assisted living. I told him he could not continue to coddle her if she was ever going to get any better. Yes, the things she needs to do are uncomfortable now, but they will get easier for her the more she moves. The doctor told me yesterday her knees are as damaged as they will ever be. Nothing is going to get better there, but she has got to move to get the fluid moving again. If she is not willing to do that, she has to wear the compression hose.

Hopefully, Paul will talk some sense in her. He can be more diplomatic than me with Mom. Mothers and daughters! Whew!

After my tirade, I hope everyone has a great day. If you are traveling, stay safe.

I almost posted from bed on my iPhone this morning, but ended up falling back asleep!

I was up for a couple of hours in the night not able to sleep, so ended up reading. It was really raining hard all night, and you know how loud that can get in an RV! Don't know how the tenters survive in such a cold downpour. Temps got down to 43 outside. I finally woke up for good at about 9, turned the furnace higher, and waited a half hour until it warmed up enough. Brrrr.

I can see where a first-come first-served campground in a crowded national park is not a good idea. Yesterday and today when this started because of the season, there has been a steady stream of vehicles driving around looking for sites. And they are driving fast because it is a race to get the best spots first! I had a reservation for the first two days so I was able to stay put, but it must be frustrating to these folks, especially the ones in very big rigs.

I am off today for a ranger tour down to a farther part of the park where shuttles normally don't go. The rain has stopped and the sun occasionally comes out, but depending on what weather source you look at, it is probably going to rain again late today. Will need to dress warmly and in layers!
