Stovetop Smoker - UPDATE

Just discovered that Cameron's makes a Li'l Smokey - just for campers, RVers, and boaters. Dang! Wish I had known that!

Here's a link from Amazon:

What's the difference between the two? This one looks a little bigger than yours.

I think it's the same size. But it has a frame thing to rest the smoker on and you can put a can of sterno under it to get the smoke going.
I'm not sure you can cook with the sterno???? Don't know if it gets hot enough?
Now you know I'll have to go do some research! Doggoneit!

Sterno's pretty dang hot! No more heat than you used on the stove it would probably work, but the stuff is pretty dangerous, in my opinion. We used to use it in restaurants and I always worried about knocking it over or something as clumsy as I am.

Another Stovetop Smoker UPDATE

Postby mitch5252 » Mon Sep 17, 2012 7:35 pm

..

I have never had any luck making pork chops. Always dry and not so flavorful. Thought I'd try some in the little Smoker.

Got some thin chops, cut off ALL the fat and silver skin, brined (salt and sugar) all afternoon.

Patted dry. Put about 2 t. of Cherry in the smoker and set it on the stove.

In less than 15 minutes (timing unsure), out came the tastiest and most wonderfully moist pork chop I have ever made!

Sharon has put pork chops as her next Smoker experiment.

I love that little thing.

Next experiment will be back ribs.

The end.

Deal!
(but I'll have a #10 DO and a little one, too)
What's the little one (2 qt. I think), a #8?
It's the cutest little thing.

And I'll also have my BRAND NEW, YET-TO-BE-DELIVERED Coleman Camp Oven...

Actually we've used it 4 or 5 times.

I have the 8, 10 and 12. And I want to see how you like the camp oven. We've seen the CampChef ovens in use at a cook-off and really liked them. Would be nice to have an actual oven to use. My little trailer doesn't have one.

To go with my new Coleman Camp Oven, I HAD TO purchase a new camp stove - a Camp Chef Everest 2 Burner/High Pressure Stove.
Supposedly has much "finer" flame control (to better control oven temps), puts out 20,000 BTUs (10 each burner), and performs better than most in cold/windy conditions.

Oh, just think of all the guinea pigs that will be around to sample all of our "experiments" ! ! ! !

Mitch used her smoker when I was at her house, so I ordered one. I used my new one when we had a little GTG at Tunica and now Carolyn (sunshinecruiser) has one. I used mine again here at my friends house this morning and made some smoked salmon, they ordered 2 large ones, (1 for them and 1 for a gift) and 3 of the small ones for gifts.

Mitch, you should contact the company and see if you can get a kickback!! We're going to try smoking some Honey Baked Ham I have for dinner...gonna try the Cherry wood on it. I'll let you know how it comes out.
