Howdy from SoCal

Come on in and say hello.

Howdy from SoCal

Postby sharon » Thu Dec 25, 2008 8:10 pm

Hello Ladies! I see a lot of old friends here and notice there are a lot of new faces, too. Sorry it took me so long to get over here, but to be honest, I've been spending a lot of time on a women's motorcycle forum and haven't been spending a lot of time on the rv ones. My bad. Also I've been gone a lot, on the bike, so no 'pooter.

For those of you that don't know me, I live in SoCal in a stick house, have a Monaco Knight 33ft pusher, a Jeep Liberty tow car, a Harley Electra Glide, a big ol' tom cat named Sam and a long haired Chi named Chewy. I stay home as little as possible, not because I don't like my home 'cause I love it, but have gypsy blood in me and love to travel! I've met a few of the ladies on this forum and enjoyed each and every one.

I'm leaving Sunday (28th) for Glamis and the sand dunes (oh yeah, I ride a quad, too), and will try and spend some more time cruisin' around here when I get back around the 5th or so.

Guess a little history for those that don't know me....Stationary Engineer by trade, widowed in '04, retired in '05. DH and I had a 38ft pusher, never drove it, but asked lots of questions. When he passed, couldn't sell the rv 'cause he loved it so much, figured it would take to much dirt to make a planter out of it,so took driving lessons thru Dick Reed's school, 3 months later took off on a 6 week trip to Arkansas. Sold it a year later, bought the 33ft and left for 6 months in Alaska. Been on the go ever since. Guess that about sums it up!

See ya'll when I get back and glad to be here.

Hi Sharon! Your coming here is a wonderful Christmas present. So glad to see you and I do hope we start seeing more of you.

Glad you've been having so much fun. I've stayed in Port Aransas for the winter - yikes yes, a full year in the same place, but have made some side trips from here. Will take off in April and this summer will have my own Alaska adventure. Please, let me know everything you believe I just can't miss.

Thanks for the welcome, ladies. Beth, I can understand why you stayed a year where you're at in Port Aransas! I can't tell you how much Evie and I enjoyed our visit there and what a wonderful hostess you were. We sure wished we could have stayed longer. BF and I were going to come thru there in Sept. but Ike kind of put the kibosh to that. We were in Milwaukee for Harley's 105th, and then were going down to New Orleans, then along the Texas coast. Didn't think we had any business down there on a motorcycle in a hurricane! We went to Oregon instead. Froze our buts off going thru Yellowstone.

As far as Alaska is concerned.....see it all! LOL! Use the Milestone as your bible. I'll have to go back over my pictures and map or something and let you know later what my favorites were. I just saw so much it was like sensory overload and can't remember off the top of my head what the names of some of the places were. And don't forget that Canada is just as beautiful as Alaska and plenty to see there, too.

Hi Sharon! welcome to the forum! Wow, retired stationary engineer, good for you, I know that was a hard go. My work was in operations for a utility, on the water side. Hope we cross paths if you come out to TX again or in N CA. Take care!

Welcome, Sharon, glad you joined us. I remember your Alaska trip well. You did such a good job telling the adventure in words and pictures, it inspired me to get there as well. I made it on a cruise tour last summer, but still have a goal to go back by RV. Maybe this summer...

Do post pictures of your adventures when you can, whether by rv, or motorcycle, or 4 -wheeler.

Sharon,

You have been busy....

Even though I hadn't posted until recently, My daughter and I enjoyed reading your posts and seeing the pictures while you were traveling in Alaska and I especially loved the picture of Sam riding in the seat asleep, with his front paws sticking out.

It's so nice to see you over here on this forum as well!
