Early me

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Early me

Postby carolb » Tue Sep 11, 2012 5:50 am

Good morning...I did another overnight Fri/Sat, and stopped at a lovely little town park on Oneida Lake. There was a newer gazebo, dedicated to the 9/11 victims/heroes. :( Very touching... I was in AZ eleven years ago.... Now, living in NY (central upstate) does that make me one of the "first" of us to be awake? :o Not to mention I'm a very early riser to begin with! So good morning to all, have a great day, relish our freedom, thank those heroes. :!: And I caught a post about the loss of Hannah???? Tina's daughter's 4-legged baby? Yes, she's happy with Herschel now...

I thought I was up early! It is 55 out and beautiful. Have to take Tyler for a walk because I can't let him run on the propery cuz he'll go drink from the pool and he is not suppose to have any food or water before his surgery this AM. Suppose to be at vets by 7AM. They will remove 4 masses and take biopsies. Don't think I'll know anything till the lab work comes back.

After I drop him off, I'm gonna treat my self to an IHOP breakfast. I've been so "house bound" and have to stay "down" and nurse this stupid concussion. My arm is sore from polishing silver, so I'll probably sort through a closet when I get home. :D

Everyone enjoy the day and stay safe. Aloha

Good Morning Carolb, Red and all who follow,

Wow, you two certainly were up early this morning. I'm being lazy today. Nothing pressing to do this mornng fora change :)
Getting to that time of year when things are starting to slow down around here. Just finshed a protein breakfast of hamburg and cottage cheese followed by a bowl of strawberries and am not having a glass of water.

Had a very productive day aruond here yesterday. House is cleaned, shopping is done for now, grass is cut and neighbors drive is weeded (lots of weeds in the expansion joints). So this morning I am just relaxing, catching up on here and gettng ready to tackle the day. My plan today is to powerwash the neighbors house along the north side. She has white vinyl siding and lots of mold on it, so it looks like the pits.

This is my last full week at work. Next week I will only be working three days and 2 the following ones, before I am done for the season. So plan to get some outdoor chores I want to do done. Have a couple of projects I want to tackle befor I head north on vacation. Going to be fun to just putter around my yard for a change. Also need to rehang my fence gate up a little higher as it is in a low spot and always gets frozen in water when the snow melts in the spring. Will fix that.

Otherwise not much new here. Same old. Have a wonderful day all.

Morning! Eleven years ago I was babysitting my then 20 month old niece in Atlanta while her parents were in Seattle. They rented a car and drove cross-country in less than 72 hours, barely stopping to rest. My sister just wanted to get home to her baby. I then drove that same car home from Atlanta and turned it in in Houston - and the car rental never even blinked. I don't think they charged us the one way fee either.

I think our taste of fall is over. I didn't have anywhere near the lows that Red had and we live on opposite sides of the same city!!! Speaking of Red - hope Tyler does well today. And stay out of that closet - that's not resting!!!

OMG. When I posted earlier I didn't even look at the date!!! 9/11. I guess we all remember where we were when we heard the news. Let's remember the over 3,000 people that died that terrible day and their families that will never forget this day!!!

On 9/11 I was at a conference in Minneapolis. It took two days to get a rental car to drive back to Michigan but they charged me only $99. No one way fees at all. Took rental companies months to sort out where cars belonged.

Rain all yesterday afternoon and night here is grand canyon north rim. Foggy now and supposed to rain all day so no scenic drive or long walk today. Going back to bed.

Sunset last night over the blueberry fields. We had our first frost of the season.

Goodbye September 10th, 2012.

September 11th is back with our memories of watching in awe and disgust as the Trade Center buildings and their occupants bit the dust. I was at school, and we in the library had the TV on all day for students and faculty to learn the goings on.

It is sunny and warming up now out there after a very frosty night. I had to run my electric heater all night long to keep my nose and toes from freezing! The night before last, my friend, Kathy, who will be going to FL with me this year, stayed out here in the trailer with me, too, and we also ran the heater as it dropped into the 40s. It seems as if we are compatible enough to live in the trailer on some travels and some campouts this upcoming winter----she snores, and I run the TV all night to combat tinnitus, so neither of us is bothered by the other!

I will finish draining my swimming pool today, and let that dry out before storing it safely in a bin inside the house for next year, and hopefully the mice will not find it and destroy it as they did my last, larger pool. I have not caught any mice recently in the house, and no one has been staying in there. Have I conquered the kitchen cabinets yet? NO! Some day before I leave!

Richard helped me move the dead deer meat refrigerator that has been airing out all summer after many, many washings by me, into the party barn for the winter to see if it will at least be usable to keep beer cold, rather than putting it out on the street with a FREE sign on it. It was used only two years, and is like new, but for the slightly off-color odor that has seemed to persist. Somebody told me to get some Sodium Triphosphate to wash it with, but NY state now has only Sodium something minus the phosphate, so I bought yet another deodorizer/cleaner/disinfectant stuff rather than that. I will also put several boxes of baking soda in it for the winter as well. Can't decide whether to leave it open with that in there, or close it up this time. I hosed it out again, and included the insulation in the back underneath it this time around.

Red, you must stay low to give your brain a chance to heal completely. Your arms can work on that silver, but don't shake your head around! I sure do hope Tyler's biopsies turn out to be benign---the wait is stressful.

Carolb----how close are you to Saranac Lake, NY? I need to get out a map and see where Frankfort is. Maybe we can meet somewhere before I head south?

I hope everyone will have a good day wherever you may be and whatever you may be doing.

Happy travels!

On 9/11 I came out of a management meeting to be given the news of the planes hitting the towers. At first I thought that had to be a hoax. Could not fathum that happening in the U.S. Our office was famous for playing jokes on each other. Quickly found out it was true. Turned the TV on in my office and immediately started trying to find my cousin who worked in a building across from the Trade Center Buildings. Called his cell phone, no answer. Called his wife's cell phone, no answer. Called his mother. She was on the golf course. Had no idea anything had happened. Watched all the people walking across the 59th street bridge. Did not know he was one of those. He walked all the way to Queens before he could finally catch a train back to CT. My phone rang at midnight that night. I have never been so glad to hear "Peggy, I'm home." We both cried that night. (Peggy is the name my family has called me since I was born because of my middle name. I did not know my name was Dawn until the first day of first grade.)

Red, hope all goes well for Tyler today. I agree with "stay out of that closet". You are supposed to be resting and staying down, remember?

Good for you Judy. Take a day to sleep and nap. Sounds like the perfect weather for it.

Since I took yesterday off and did absolutely nothing, have got to make today more productive. Going to work on clearing out more of what I brought and finding places to store things going forward that make more sense. Figure I will be rethinking and moving things for a while. Hope in all this I can find the dog's retractible leashes and my sweater I was working on. I still have a lot of shredding of old tax records to do. I have definitely learned to not store these forever. I still have returns from the 80's to shred along with all the receipts and cleared checks.

Hope everyone has a great day. If you are traveling, stay safe.

I too will be thinking of Tyler and you today Red, hugs to you both.

Soos, was it on here I read about putting crumpled newspapers in things to take out odors? Anyway it is supposed to work but take awhile so you might try closing it up with lots of wadded up news papers. Who thinks up these things! I would never have thought of that remedy. Wouldn't hurt to try and cheap! Your sunset pictures were marvelous!!

Good morning gals! Finally have internet at home! So much more convenient than running to the library or Caribou Coffee.

It is cloudy, windy, and cool this morning but is supposed to hit around 95 later today! One last hurrah for summer before fall officially takes over here.

I have the day off with nothing much planned. Need to do some laundry tho. My new furniture is on it's way and should be here in the next few days! I wanted to hold off until I moved into the one bedroom apartment next month but it was on clearance and I didn't want to take a chance on it getting sold out (one set I was looking at already did sell out). Luckily, being wicker (resin) it will be fairly easy to move.

I remember the morning of 9/11. One of the girls at work was so upset that she got physically sick and had to go home. It didn't really sink in for me until I got home and saw it on TV. It was then very upsetting for me and I couldn't watch TV for another couple weeks since that was all that was on every channel.

Hope you all have a happy day today!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

I actually remembered that it was 9-11 today. Said a small prayer for the families who lost someone and/or were deeply, tragically affected by that horrible day.

Not much going on in my little corner of TN. Have been on the phone juggling doctor appts and rescheduling them. What a pain in the butt. The ortho doctor that specializes in wrists had some kind of an emergency come up so instead of seeing him this Friday I will now have to wait until the 28th. Was really looking forward to talking with him as his office was insistent that I actually come in to talk to him instead of getting the results of the MRI over the phone. Have another appt with my primary care doc on Wednesday for lab work.

Interesting note. Not really funny but then again??? Scared the heck out of Kelly this morning. Usually I am up and around before she is. I get up, go potty, get dressed, throw a cup of coffee in the micro and then take Shade out to P. Well this morning Kelly came in and woke me up to see if I was OK. Seems like according to her I hadn't moved my position in bed or moved the sheet covering me at all the whole night. I assured her that I had indeed moved during the night. But she was very hesitant when she spoke to me asking if I was warm enough. Ruined it tho, once she woke me up I realized just how badly I had to go to the potty! Kinda different sleeping with that bi-pap machine. Now when I lay down to go to sleep? I go to sleep alright, I go out for the total count!!! I think I might have to start setting my alarm to wake me up in the morning.

OK, time to go read. Hope ya'll have a super day. Be sure to have fun and if your traveling, be extra aware and stay safe.

Love to all
