More Electrical Help Needed! :(

More Electrical Help Needed! :(

Postby mitch5252 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 12:52 pm

So, I FINALLY pulled the Mobile Marlin over to the house. Plugged it in to shore power. Battery still in the garage on its charger Jr thing.

Can’t get the CO alarm to shut off, and the MaxxFan is making a rhythmic clicking noise, and the radio is flashing in time with the clicking of the fan.

I took the battery off the little Jr. charger and installed it in the trailer. The problems DID NOT go away.

I flipped the GFI breaker and all the problems stopped. Left it flipped for a while then turned it back on. Problems started again.

I know this happened before and somehow I solved it (most likely because of help, certainly not MY electrical genius), but for the life of me, I don’t remember the solution!!!

Any of your normal, sound advice???? PUH-leez? I DO NOT want a glass of wine at 1:00 in the afternoon! That’s only for vacations, not frustrations!! Sometimes I just hate this new widderhood!

I figured out the problem. The battery shut-off plunger is on.

Mitch, you can do this, it has nothing to do with Widderhood. My DH is useless with RV issues because he doesn't like to RV. You are woman, you are strong....and smart.

Mitch, you can do this. I hate this widderhood too. We are strong. Especially with all the help we get right here.

The least Mitch could have done was given us chances to make fools of ourselves with all the wrong answers before she told us she figured it out.

Seriously, I'm glad you did - and so quickly. Frustrating when something like that happens and you know you fixed it before - and for the life of it can't remember what it was.

OK, I'm not widder, but I have been divorced for 28 years. You learn to make do or do it yourself. So, just in case I ever need to know:

What is the heck is a "battery shut-off plunger"???

And do I need to do anything with one??

Judy, it is the battery off switch. You flip it when the battery is not being used for an extended time. She flipped that switch when she removed the Batterry and put it on the charger.

I've been so busy with downsizing I haven't given much thought to the trailer mechanics....this battery thing is new to me and I suspect I'm about to find out many things are about to be revealed....I just want to know how to hook up and pull this sucker out of here right now. One of the girls told me about one lady she knew who was so good at playing the 'poor little widder' and got plenty of help along the way...maybe I'll just adopt this method  :D Better to use the testosterone along the way rather than travel with it!

Nancy, hysterical! I have been so busy trying to learn to do it all myself, I never gave that idea any thought!

My battery off switch doesn't look like a plunger, but to tell you the truth, I have never opened up the battery compartment under my floor near by entrance!! So far I am getting good red lights that it is fully or almost fully charged all of the time.

I have found that dinner time is a good time to get male help. If you just stand around and look at something long enough, someone who is nearby will come to help. You can try opening hatches and getting things out to put them in the ground. Looking some more.... On my first camping try-out trip, it took about three minutes for a lady to offer her husband's help. Then later that evening, when I flipped the water heater bypass valve, water started gushing out the side of my motorhome. As I was frantically looking for a flashlight because it was dark outside, I heard knocks on the door. Three men were there and one asked me if I knew water was gushing out of the side of my motorhome. They got the right tools and put in the plug that the dealer had left out. I also learned to always keep a flashlight by the door.

After I had already named it, I thought that I should have named my blog "Travels Without Charley." I do not want to travel with "Charleys" of any species, but I do like their help!!!
