September Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

September Sunday

Postby Colliemom » Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:57 am

Good Morning everyone,

Do I dare start coffee ths morning. Did the other day and then later saw that the forum went down  Maybe I overloaded the table with too many offerings for breakfast  Well, I'll emper it down to bacon, eggs and peaches this mornng.

I can tell fall is coming. Temp is 42 this morning. Slowly but surely it's heading toward that 30's and frost range. None in the future forecasts though. Supposed to warm up into 80's by mid week and then cool back down. But one of these days..... Been chilly and wet since Friday afternoon, so fall is definitely in the air. Ah, cooler weather, trees starting to loose their green, football games, crisp mornings, what more could one want.

Reading through the past couple of days of coffee, looks like everybody's busy. Tina, I'm sorry to hear about Hannah. Losing two dogs in a short period of time even if one wasn't living with you anymore is hard, but at least you still have furkids around you. Seems like there are quire a few of us who have either lost or have sick dogs lately. I'm getting that feeling that Tessa is not going to get better either. Although she is now on another anitibiotic and estrogen, her "P" sessions seem to be increasting. She's been able to hold all night for the most part, but these past two nights she has had accidents in the wee hours of the morning. She does wake me up to go out, but I think she has to go too fast to hold it once she gets up. She's only been on the new stuff since Friday, so need to give it a few days to see what happpens. But it don't look good. This giving her meds three times a day is kind of a pain too, as trying to set an every 8 hours schedule around work is impossible. So I run home for a few minutes in mid afternoon

Echo, good to see you back posting again and hope you continue to get better. Just let your body rest and do what it tells you.

Red, same for you. That was a bad accident and you got banged up pretty bad as well. Just take it easy and let your body heal. Hard to do I know, as we think we start to feel better and do things, then whoops, we aren't as good as we think we are.

See we have some new folks joining and posting. Welcome aboard. Join in anytime with anything. I'll catch up to the Introductions later on when I have more time.

BJ, wishing you a belated Happy Birthday. Hope it was a great day.

Been slow at the park but did have more camps this weekend then I thought we would. Most are leaving today. Also have two big group gatherings using our picnic shelter both days, although we let one groupl use our Activity Bldy instead as it was cold and windy with shower moving through. A nice church group. Family reunion coming today and will offer them the same if they want. One more week of full time and then I spread 40 hours out over two weeks, so will be off more than on till the 26th. Good time to get somethings done aruond here before I leave on vacation.

Am heading north to my favorite haunt in Michigamme. Really looking forward to it. Hope I can get on here. They do have Wifi, but the rounter is up on the main office upstairs. It's a cement block building. The company they are with are supposed to be upgrading and thus they should be able to spread the Wifi through the whole building, but so far the upgrade hasn't happened. I'm wondering if there is something out there that I can hook to my computer to help pull the signal in for me. Anybody know of something.

Well, time to get going here. Got to leave for work in a little while. Need to get cleaned up, throw lunch in my bag and head out the door for the last work day of this week. Have a wonderful day all.

Good morning everyone, I stepped outside and OMG how wonderful. It is 60 and feels wonderful.if I wasn't restricted to bed rest, I would tale Tyler for a walk around the lake. It will be in the 90s during the days this week, but cool in the mornings :P I hope the cool, weather will stay around for awhile, specially for Maggie's weekend in Brazos :P

I am tackling polishing these really old silver pieces that were left to me by my great aunt, great grandma, grandma and MIL. After they are cleaned, I will put them in airtight bags for long term storage. I'm getting them ready to go to my daughter. Out of 5 kids, she is the only one interested in using it and keeping it for her daughter (the one that wants to be a vet). When I got to TX, I put some on display. Then I didn't polish and they got severely tarnished and put in a closet. I have spent hours/days on just one piece :( My grandma, great grandma and MIL had maids that polished the silver ;) That's probably why it's not so popular these days..too much work  I really don't care for it much. However, I love using the silverware! It's probably wierd, but I like eating using the same silverware that my relatives used. When I eat my cereal I'm using the same spoon that my GM, GP, mom, aunts used and I feel connected to them. A warm, fuzzy feeling.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe day. Aloha

Good morning all. Relaxing with a cup of java before heading out to visit my MIL. Please send some of that fall weather to Sarasota :D tGM is getting antsy and ready to go, so we might get on the road for a few weeks after he takes care of some minor medical issues. We ordered the part of the tow package for the new car, so have to wait for that to get installed also. Finally got the blog done on my NYC trip. It's amazing how many people think my sis and I are twins until they see us standing next to each other  there is definitely a family resemblance, but twins? I don't see that. Hope all have a good day. carold

Wow----I feel exactly the same way about my family silverware, Red! I even have the tiffany spoons that were my grandmother's before she got married here in the trailer for me to use. And I love the slippery feeling of really good silver anything, although, as you say, the keeping it shiny and slippery is an ongoing job. I am taking some other silver things back to FL with me this trip around.

Sue, I am so sorry that Tessa seems to be not getting over this latest bladder/kidney problem. It is very stressful to watch our beloved 4-footers suffer the humiliation of having 'accidents', as I am sure it is for them, as well. I am thinking of you two as you try to get some more quality time into your lives. I am sure you are savoring every minute of the time you spend together. At least for Tessa, I am sure she has no clue of the seriousness of her ailment, so at least she has to deal only with the shame of the accidents. For us humans, it's another thing, as we can contemplate the future----an affliction our critters do not have to cope with, I do not believe.

It is really looking like fall here now, even though it's too early for these maples to be displaying so many of their pretty colors. We had a rainstorm with wickedly strong winds go through here yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure how many trees came down in our area, but all is well right here at the trailer and my house. We didn't even lose power! Most of the worst weather passed both north and south of this little area, as so many of this summer's storms seem to have done. For some reason we seem to be in a 'safe' spot, and it makes me very happy.

Yesterday was dump day, followed by yard picking up and walking back and forth and hither and thither carrying summer things back to their winter locations, either in the cellar, the duckhouse, the barn, or the shelter. I also went shopping for some more plastic bins for storage, disinfecting wipes to clean out the kitchen cupboards and what not, and a few groceries. As fr actually tackling the house 'stuff'------well, it was too wet to walk to the house to tackle that!

No plans yet for today, but one of my goals is to wrap up the house kitchen cabinet cleaning and organizing. When/if Richard gets back here, I will ask him to help me open up the upstairs closet doors so I can get to my movies, videos, and photos that I need to sort through and then take to get digitized before I head south once again. I also need to call my friend who might come with me, or at least meet me down there to camp and share the house and trailer.

Here's hoping the weather will be kind to those who are traveling, and to those who are camped.

Happy sunday to all----coffee is hot and hazlenut today.

Happy travels!

Morning everyone! Sitting in my room drinking coffee waiting to hear Mom get up and start stirring around. I think she is beginning to. Have taken the dogs out. I put my winter bathrobe on and was much more comfortable than yesterday morning. It's about 60 outside this morning. Supposed to be a nice weather day again today.

Since it's Sunday, I make a big dessert. I found a recipe for shortbread brownies. The bottom layer is the shortbread with the brownie as the top layer. Then they get Hershey's Kisses and miniature M&M's on top. They look really decadent. I hope they taste as good as they look.

Red, I hate polishing silver too, so gave away all mine a long time ago. You are right. Real silverware does feel different when you are using it. You be sure and stay down. You can take Tyler for walks in a week or two as soon as your doctor says is OK.

Everyone have a great day. If you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning,
This is the newbie, Pam. Short note as I am enjoying my French vanilla coffee. Fall is also in the air here; I believe it was down to 52. The dogs had a shock when we went out this morning.

Red, do take care. I had a concussion from a skiing accident many years ago and the drs. had me off work for six weeks. As I look back I did need that time to rest and heal.

I am love getting to know you through your posts. When I have time, I'll have to back and catch up.

Better go and get ready for church.

Another beautiful cool, crisp morning here yeaaaaaah! I have so waited for this and had thought we might just go from summer to winter. I've been busy all morning, we are having a potluck after church to welcome our new interim minister so I have Pat's grape salad recipe whipped up and ready to go.
I hope you get better soon Red, know how you feel about polishing silver I don't have but a couple of spoons but do have a lovely tiny cream pitcher and I don't like it real shiny so only clean it occasionally with toothpaste, which does a great job.
I've felt like I am getting at UTI so I am taking something called D-Mannose and so far it is helping. I'll go to the doctor tomorrow though just to be sure, although last couple of antibiotics they have given me have caused me to break out in hives for the first time in my life. I think it is the dye they use in the capsules so need to have the next prescription filled at the Natural Apothecary and see if that helps. Here is a link for anyone who has issues or takes cranberry juice supplements to avoid having problems.

Got to get dressed, have a great day.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

All this talk about cooler weather is great except one thing..... It also means that winter is on it's way. YUCK! i took Shade out last eve just as it was going on for dusk and what a difference in the temp from the night before. Kelly took her out just before I went to bed, I only stuck my head out the door. I was so surprised at the temp and feel of the air, what a difference is so short a time.

I might actually have a little more energy today so maybe I'll get after dishes again. Gonna clean off the table too. At least then I can say and show that I did manage to do something!

Move slow this morning so need to get another cup of coffee and I'm gonna have some oatmeal for my late breakfast. Hope ya'll have a happy, satisfying and safe Sunday. If your on the road be extra cautious.

Love to all

Got up and got out the door by 8:15 this morning. Had to go to Home Depot then stopped at the donut shop next door for breakfast - so not good for me but oh so delicious. I had gotten some 3/4" plywood to make a new table for the Land Dinghy. When I took the girls camping in April, the hardware ripped out of the back of the table that hooks into the wall when it's in the up position. That table had been made out of MDF. We had discussed several alternatives and Mark had even brought home a folding table that was 48" by 24". The only problem is due to the way the front of the trailer angles in, the table wouldn't push up all the way against the front wall and stuck out a little in front of the refrigerator. And we would still need planks to put the cushions on to make the bed. So back to the drawing board and making a table the same shape as what came out. By using plywood, we hope that it will be more secure.

So the rest of the day was spent outside, cutting out the table, routering and sanding - then painting. It looks pretty good and I hope that it works better than the last one.

And it was great outside - still pretty warm but we stayed in the shade and the breeze was fantastic.
