Wednesday Means Moving Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Means Moving Day

Postby HorizonSeeker » Wed Sep 05, 2012 4:54 am

Surprise! I'm the first one in the kitchen today, but don't expect me to cook. I'm packing up the last of the loose things and pulling in my slide. Gotta wash one load of clothes while it's free. The rangers here have been so very nice to work with. I will surely miss them and know I won't be so lucky again (although I can always hope). They both have offered to help me get down off my blocks and hook up the car. I really don't usually like help and prefer to do it all myself (so I know everything is hooked up right) but since I am up on a lot of blocks here I accepted their offer. BUT NOT EARLY. I swear I told them I would be sleeping in and doing that last load of laundry and then here I am wide awake at 5am. Had a light breakfast of tea and a pop tart (yeah, yuck I know) but will be looking forward to a nice dinner cooked on the fire with Sara tonight in Alabama. Guess my excitement about getting on the road and seeing Sara got me up and going early.

Safe travels today. And breakfast here today is pop-tarts - oops.

Reading people's posts about moving is really giving me the camping itch. I will be going out next weekend. I have a dutch oven gathering (DOG) in October but that will be camping in a parking field, then the TX GTG the first weekend in Nov. Mark and I are talking a trip for Christmas. So plans are starting to come together.

Judy, I do know a little of what you were talking about. I went out by myself for 9 days earlier this year and realized it's a lot different than having someone along. I did a lot more exploring of the area - driving around several hours a day on a couple of different days and I also found I didn't cook as much. I had to force myself to cook at least one big meal because it was my birthday.

So I really think I would enjoy the kind of traveling the Alaska ladies did this summer - having someone to travel with when you want but being able to do your own thing as well.

Good morning ladies. In honor of Echo and the reminder to stay healthy (and the need to loose the lbs I put on eating lobster in Maine) I took Tyler for a short (1/2 mile) walk. I'll do it again this evening as part of my therapy after the accident. Then I had Muesli cereal with walnuts, fresh blueberries and almond milk :D I will probably have a second breakfast in a few hours as cereal never lasts longer than that for me. Hey, but I'm trying to keep up the eat healthy and stay active routine. As hard as it is sometimes ;)

Took Tyler to the vet yesterday. He goes in for surgery on Tuesday to remove those cysts....she found 4  Praying they are all benign.

Lots of Dr. appt today and tomorrow. Hope all is well with everyone and stay safe in your travels. Aloha

Sitting here in Ohio getting ready to start running down the list of errands that I have in my head. I may actually write the list down when I have about a third done....so I can see what I've accomplished. I don't know if I am up to facing my step mother's apartment, yet. I think I can wait for another day to start the job of clearing it out. I sat and sorted through the large basket of mail yesterday. Found some checks that need to be cashed and a few items that need me to send checks to. The "Pottery Man" had found all the utility bills and bills related to my step mother and he had consistently sent those amounts to me by e-mail and I would pay them but he did miss a few documents that I will take care of now. I also have a nice pile with four months worth of a few magazines. Glad I don't have many subscriptions. I could have read some of them in the inline version...oh, wait, my iPad quit somewhere in Alaska....

I think I will start with taking the iPad back to the Apple store and getting one that works. Have worked through 5 loads of laundry since yesterday afternoon and will continue those trips up and down the steps. I stripped anything washable out of the rig and with all the people bedding and dog bedding...from the crates, from the floors and seats....it is still a pile. Might even be a basket of clothes to do under that pile. :) I will wait for a cooler day to wash down the rig floor and take the rig up the road for a bath at the Truck Wash. I think they may do removal of cemented bugs...for a price. :o I just know that I am not willing to pay the price of my back and knees if I try to do it myself.

Everyone have a wonderful day and go find some good adventures where ever you may be.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

I can't believe how much has happened since I have been gone for 9 days! Beth is on the road again, beautiful Herschel made his final trip, Echo has been in the hospital, and Isaac has made many of you very nervous and/or changed plans to move on down the roads. I am still trying to get caught up on all the happenings, and will try to post a couple of pics of our campsite with this message, if I can manage it.

The music festival was wonderful, with hours and hours of field picking and singing around campfires as well as the stage presentations of some wickedly talented groups. I bought a new CD by a group called the Four Bridges, which I love as well as any I have purchased this year.....fantastic original songs performed so very well.

Our campsite---Richard's trailer facing mine, with Issy's wash hanging on the line!

Some of our neighbors in the early morning sun-rising.

We had perfect weather for the entire time we were there, with a few quick showers to keep the dust down and nearly cloudless skies the rest of the time. The beautiful brook that runs down one side of the property had a deep hole in which to bathe and wash hair, which felt so wonderful! We all had a wonderful time and I certainly plan to return next year.

I hope you all are safely out of Isaac's path now, as he passed by us last night dropping about 2 inches of rain on his way. No lightning or hail for us, however, which made it a nice night for sleeping to hear the rain on the roof.

Now I need to get caught up on the blogs and all the posts----happy Wednesday to all!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning ladies. Sitting here drinking my coffee. No breakfast for me until about noon. I am just not a breakfast eater.

Red, hope all goes well with Tyler and the rumors are benign. Good luck with your Doctor appointments too.

Soos, so glad you had a wonderful time. It sounds like so much fun!

I had an Ah Ha moment this morning. When my alarm went off at 6:00 this morning, I was not ready to get up. Hit snooze a couple times. When I got up, I realized I don't have to set an alarm anymore except on driving days. This is the first time in my life, I don't have to be up early to get my To Do list accomplished. Other than just basic housework, I don't have to have a To Do list everyday. I can just do what I feel like accomplishing each day. This is going to take some getting used to. I do have to go grocery shopping today if we are going to eat for the next week. I am also thinking of finding a place to get my hair cut and colored. I am about 2 months past due for both. Mom wants a trim too. Figure we will explore Ardmore a little bit today to see what's here. Think I'll put off laundry until tomorrow. Guess this is what you all mean by slowing down and getting out of vacation mode.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Did someone say "moving day?" I am sitting here hoping that it will be moving day for me. A moving home for me day that is! Have talked to the business office girl, the social worker, the case worker, another dietician and someone else but I forget who, so now I'm waiting for the big man to come in and give me the word. I am so ready to go home. Can't do much more at home than what I'm doing here but at least I will be in my own space. Well just had a visit from another Social Case Worker. It's beginning to sound like I just might be able to go home today!!! Please!!!

Ya know, we have not named the trailer, we've kicked a couple of names around but nothing has tickled our fancy. Whenever Kelly or I talk about the trailer it's simply called home. So If it really needs a name I guess that's it, "Home". Sounds good to me at any rate.

Think I'm gonna snag someone and see about getting disconnected long enough to get washed up so I'm gonna get going. Hope everyone has a super great day, have fun, see new things or even old things in a different way, enjoy the sunbeams, maybe even the raindrops. How ever you enjoy today do it safely and savor every moment, we never know when that moment might be our last.

Love to all

Good Morning from Port Angeles, Washington -

Lots of interesting things going on here and mostly all good news! I had to go back and find a few posts to catch up - i.e. Redawhine's accident - glad it wasn't any worse.

Tina, my list when we get back to Arizona grows daily I swear! I am planning to put everything from the 5er into storage and hopefully sell the 5er. Know it isn't going to be fun.

We are parked in my sister's lovely backyard with a view of the mountains. My niece is being married Saturday so I'm excited to be part of the preparations! Today I will cut the cloth for table covers and help mix up sugar cookies. Tomorrow it will be napkins and napkin rings. Friday I am invited to go along with the girls for mani-pedi (something I have never treated myself to) and the casual rehearsal dinner. Then there is my wild 3 yo great niece to entertain us. Just a really fun time!

Afternoon! We've had a busy day. The 4 roll up garage doors were installed today. Went to the Sheriff's Dept. and picked up 5 of the 16 items stolen from the garage while we were camping in Cameron. Two of the things recovered, we hadn't even realized that they were stolen. There is an arrest warrant issued for the lady next door. It was probably the men that stole the stuff, but she was the one dumb enough to take it to the pawn shop! Probably because she doesn't have a previous record, but she will now... trespassing and theft. She pawned the stuff then after the detective went over there to ask if they had seen or knew anything about the theft, she went and got the stuff out of pawn and threw it in the woods. But we did get some back and know our suspicions were correct.

Vickie, glad you at least got back some of your things that were stolen. It's awful that it was your neighbor. Hopefully she will get in enough trouble that she will name the guys too. There is not much lower than a thief.

We know there was no way that she could have been the one to haul out the heavy items like floor jack, winch and stuff, so it had to be her husband, 17yo son or the other man living there (think he's her brother). She'll take the fall for it, though.

That's a shame. They should all take the fall. Maybe the detectives can guide her in that direction.
