First Tuesday in September

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Tuesday in September

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 04, 2012 6:36 am

Good Morning,

Table is set and pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels are on the menu. Just bring your coffee and come join in. The more the merrier.

Trust everybody had a good Labor Day yesterday. I labored almost all day, not at work but at home. So today am tired and probably won't do a whole lot. And it was hot here too. One of those upper 80 days. I think I sweated a bucket full of water while I was working on rebuilding part of a flowerbed wall at my deck. Needed some new 2x4's. First time in a while that I have been busy with crowbar and hammer. My arms are a bit tired today from all that. Also finished paiting the trim on my deck, my fence gate and a section of lattice on the fence. So other than just painting one board on my deck, I'm done painting for this fall I think.

Miss Tessa and I will be heading out the door in a little over a half hour as we have an appt. with her doctor this morning. Urinalysis and blood test on tap to see how things are progressing. She has not wet in her bed in almost two weeks now, but i did have a few wet spots on the carpet this past week for about three days. One each day. No big deals, but never the less, still needed clean up. So hopefully the meds are taking hold slow but sure. Otherwise she's doing just fine. And then it's off to pay my property taxes so I can live in this house for a few more months

Well, that Roadtrek is still sitting up the road here. Anybody looking for one? Beautiful condition rig. Yhis time of year is not an easy time to sell used stuff like that. Nobody's interested much as the season is windng down. Unless you have the money of course. I think $33,500 might be just a little high for a 2005 with 43,000 miles, but then I am not familiar with the used prices on those vehicles.

Haven't had time to look through the posting on the forum these past few days, so won't comment on anything other than glad to see BJ finally got much needed rain. Hope Tina didn't have to drive through all that. We had rain last night too, and it's moving out this morning.

So, am off to check emails, posts etc. Have a great day all.

Morning Sue and all to follow:

I sure hope Tessa has a really good vet appt today. Sounds like she is doing better since just the 3 little wet spots.

I am officially on the road now. Left Hudson Oaks yesterday and am parked at Lake Murray State Park in Oklahoma. We did not get on the road as early as I wanted and Mom wanted to go Hwy 51 instead of the freeway like I wanted to. She said 51 would get us to I35 avoiding the road construction on 820. GPS routed us all the way to Gainsville on 51. I hated that road. It was 2 lanes, speed limit of 70 (I did 50) with lots of ruts cut by big trucks using that route. Once we were back on I35, 4 miles into Oklahoma, we ran into a 2 hour traffic jam. It took us 2 hours to go about 15 miles because they had it down to one lane ahead of us and too many people wanted to go as far as they could in the lane being closed off ahead.

Those of you on FB. know that I christened Sunshine after we got to the park. I backed into a post and did some damage to the back passenger side of her. I will start my blog later and post pictures. Damage doesn't look too bad, but cracked the back cap, so I know it's going to be expensive to fix. Forgot how long I was and was trying to take the short cut into the sites I wanted to be in. Could not make the turn, had to back up and the way the sun was shining on my backup camera, I just did not see the post behind me. What was getting Barb Zeee so tickled was that there was a guy out walking just past where I was trying to make my turn. When I heard the crunch sound, he did too. He jumped and then turned around to make sure he was out of the way, I am sure! Bet he was telling everyone at his campsite, there's a crazy lady here. Watch out for her! Thank goodness I have already paid for a year's worth of insurance! Not going to be happy about paying the deductible. Also, going to have to continue living in rig while it is fixed. This is going to be interesting!

I immediately knew Chuck was laughing at me! Back in the early 80's we bought our first van. About 2 weeks after we got it, I had to take middle daughter to doctor. I parked in front of my office to let them know I would be back as soon as I could. Jumped back in van and backed it right into a post that was there. I knew the post was there, but forgot how much longer the van was over the car I had been driving. Deja vu! My memories of that morning came flooding back very vividly. I was so worried at the time Chuck was going to be furious with me. Instead, he just laughed. Said accidents happened and that he figured I would never forget how long the vehicle was again. Just learned the same lesson with the rig. Continued to drive big vehicles all the years after that and never backed into anything ever again until yesterday.

Paul stayed in rig with Mom and me last night. Looks like his inverter may have gone out. Mike, friend and camp host, gave him the name and number of a reasonable RV guy to come take a look at it. He hooked up then he said lights got really bright, then dim then nothing. Said no breakers were tripped in his rig, but the one on the pole was. He reset that, but still only running on half the amps he should be. We have all six dogs with us, of course. It sure feels crowded to me this morning. I have a lot to do to get everything in order inside and then get the outside chairs, etc set up today since we got in late yesterday. Ran out of light before I could get everything done.

It's going to take a few more trips before I feel totally comfortable driving the rig, I think. I have to learn how it handles in all situations. I feel like I did pretty good, other than hitting the post, of course.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning Sue, Dawn & everyone!

Sue, it sounds like you were really busy yesterday getting your painting and what not done. Now you're all set for winter.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear about you hitting the post. Hopefully it'll be an inexpensive fix.

We got back from a state park in DE yesterday. The park is beautiful, located on a huge pond. Other than a couple thunderstorms that rolled through, the weather was beautiful. We camped with some friends that have met us at the same state park for Labor Day weekend for about the past seven years or so and we had a great time together, sharing meals and laughs.

I'll be getting a workout in this morning and I'm sure I'll find something to get into after I get home. I've been scanning the crockpot recipe forum, checking out meals to make this winter while we're in Florida. It's so much easier using the crockpot rather than using the oven. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying life.

Good morning ladies!

Sue, thanks for the big breakfast. I finally have a morning with time to eat.
Dawn, hate to hear about the christening. Hopefully the cap isn't cracked too badly.
Irma, sounds like a fun weekend.

We had fun here this weekend. Park started filling up on Wednesday and by Saturday we were full and sent a couple of pop ups over to the tent area. Wouldn't you know my last weekend would be my most hectic. Had 15 rigs pull out yesterday so I was really busy staying ahead of the rush in the restrooms and cleaning sites. A couple more pulled out this morning leaving only 3. Tomorrow 2 more pull out: site 19 and ME!

Today I will be cleaning up my outside stuff and loading up the car. Checking all the mechanical stuff on the rv and doing a general housecleaning. When I was living in the house and went on a trip I always liked to come home to a clean house. Now I find I like to clean my rig right before I head out. Go figure.
Speaking of the house, bad news: my tenant couldn't get approved for a home loan so he won't be buying my house, but good news: I'm negoitating a price with his parents who evidently want to keep him there. Keep your fingers crossed.

So, heading out tomorrow toward Alabama. Planning a stop at Honeycomb Campground on Lake Gunthersville for a couple of days to unwind a little before heading to Hohenwald.

Good morning everyone. Sue - hope Tess' vet visit is good news. Dawn - what a way to christen Sunshine  You got that first ding out of the way pronto!! Oh what I have to look forward to :? Really nice to see Echo posting again :D

I am getting ready to take Tyler to the vet. He was getting too fury and I took him to the groomer and Tyler kept getting diarrhea after the bath....so he came home with still a bunch of fur. So I put him up on the table and started shaving him. There was a matted area and I found the a hanging from his stomach a sack like cyst filled with fluid the size of my thumb!!! So off to the vet we go!!!

My neck and back still hurt and headaches. Making Dr. appt. to follow up from ER visit.

Everyone stay safe. Aloha

Good Morning
Been trying to get caught up on forum news. Want to welcome all the new members - this wonderful group is really growing.
Finally got okay from doctor to resume normal activities and it is so good to be able to get out again.
Since my summer did not go at all according to plan, I am way behind on learning curve with Magic. Given the excessive heat I may not have made much progress even if I hadn't gotten sick. Hopefully I haven't forgotten what little I did learn about her - about to find out.
With Horizoneseeker heading north and Nan heading south, the timing has worked out for us to have a little gtg at Honeycomb. Wendy will also join us.
Haven't told Nicky yet but this will be his first trip in RV. Think I'm more concerned about how he will do than I am about driving Magic again. Other than getting her home, this will just be my 2nd trip in RV. Lots to do today to get ready to leave tomorrow.
Have a great day.

Woke up early this morning, even though I am still really tired. Need to be ready for a shuttle soon, as I am taking a boat tour of Lake Powell.

I have REALLY been missing TV after three months without it, other than very occasional times. Been having problems with my DVD player, also. Even though I had been told there was no air tv here, I cranked up the antenna and checked--got four channels, two of them being PBS so I am very happy! Watched Antiques Roadshow and some other good British comedy last night.

This entertainment center is so complex, I am seriously thinking of ditching parts of it. I have a sound system, plus DVD player, plus three tvs that need to be adjusted. I have never watched the one in my bedroom and the one in the middle has only been watched a couple of times by my grandkids. You not only have to setup each of the TVs, but you have a master control box where you have to select the type of system you are using for each.

My ant problem seems to have disappeared, hopefully for as long as I am here. whew.

morning ladies..

I dont post much i know.. sortta the silent type i guess..LOL I do enjoy reading the threads tho.

Woke up to "fog" this a.m. hmmm do believe that fall is coming to soon. I have a camping trip planned for the week of the 9th with my friends, so am still hoping for Oct too... with the fog in the mornings, the afternoons will be nice... Weather so far looks to be good!! :) :)

I was also complaining to fix some type of hand rail in the trailer.. those first 2 steps are at least 12" high and its scarry going down them at nite.. i do put the step stool on the floor at nite, for the first step, but so afraid of fallling.. i really need something to grab on to.. i did install the grab handle but dont want to try to put my weight on it, and its not in the right position for going 'down'.. just up.... Any suggestions would help.
Getting another Trailer is out of the question... so something should work i would think.

gosh i hate to see the long nites and shorter days coming. i wish i could head south, but thats not in the cards for me... to have to trailer sit again all winter is so depressing.. Here our summers are to short and once a month camping amounts to about 6-7 outings.. because of the gas prices i didnt go in Aug. ( sigh)

Hope everyone has a great week ahead... for all those traveling here and there... be safe!

Morning!

I got to work this morning only to find out that a project that has been dragging for months is finally going live on October 1 - 10 months after it was supposed to!!! And of course now everything is rush rush! I had a conference call almost before I even had breakfast (I usually eat after I get to work).

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well even in spite of a few aw sh#$'s along the way (Dawn).

And I get tickled with Sue talking about the 80's being so hot!!! We will be brushing 100 again this week. And if I remember correctly, it was in the 80's, nearing 90 when I was there in July!

It's raining here this morning -- and I have to say, hurrah! It's been far too dry. I imagine the ground sighing with relief. Now, if I just didn't have so many errands scheduled . . . .

I think summer is going out with a bang here, supposed to be worst humidity of the summer the next couple of days but...after that a cool down is promised to start Thursday with fall like temperatures by the weeks end!!! So, not much planned here, until then I will be doing a lot of inside stuff, hummm I could dust been awhile from the looks of things  Somehow I don't feel any inspiration.
So sorry about your accident Dawn and the long traffic delay. Did your GPS warn you of the traffic jam? Mine is supposed to but haven't tried it enough to know. Hope I don't find out the hard way it doesn't work, I don't wait well.
Welcome back Echo! Red I've been worried about you and I think it's a good idea for you to do a follow-up. I hope Tyler's problem isn't serious.

Good Morning (*made it in) from Dark Cloud Pa...oops just heard that sound of thunder uh oh ..quick flash in that sky... and lost me satellite so I'm using me Internet to listen to the NEWS... ;)

Sue you surely cooked a big breakfast..you must have known we'd all be hungry :) glad to hear Tessa is getting better too and hope these tests come out better for her... That Roadtrek sounds pretty good..prices wise lately goes on that fact of how many miles you get per gallon..LOL.. it's unreal as prices are going up and up.. and plus they are pretty popular rigs..

Echo so glad you are doing better and you know we all here are praying you'll get through all of the "lists of things you shouldn't do "...Most of us have had that and some of us are still going through it..So you are not alone !!!

Irmi, I love my Crock Pot..hahaha.. yep and I've posted many a recipe and lots of goodies too.. Most of my traveling days were done by Crock Pot..hahaha...and everyone would always joke.. I never traveled without something cookin'.. By the way while you were in Delaware did ya know you all had a Tornado come by ????

Red hope Tyler will be ok.. and seems you are coming along better...but that neck and back..might take awhile..

Sarah.. good hearing you are on the mend as well..and ready to get back on the road in Magic..

Judy.. ant problems are always a pain in the butt for us all.. I've been painting and spraying every campground and place I've parked...cause them little suckers come in from every where...so hence I paint the wire coming in ...around the wheels..and where ever I have something attached... and as far as the TV's go...well..that's always an added "luxury "... hahaha..

Christine... those gas prices catch us all... I only get 6 to 7 mpg and every time I head out I gulp !!! as far as fixing your step problem ..not sure what kind of a rig you have...(pictures) but I've always used a larger type platform to step down on when I was set up.. ...maybe someone else here can help ya.. you know all of us have had some kind of problems ..

Maggie, Hope you manage to make it through yourself..gawd I remember those days..Breakfast was always hard to swallow for me... How much longer you have to go before you can do a GET AWAY..??

Dawn..what can I say.. I mean I did tell ya I felt bad for you but when you told me about that poor man walking by. :o .well you just caught my tickle bone.. and YES my ribs hurt from laughing...I can't help that.. I mean you got to admit that poor man.. I mean ''''You Made His Day".. and the whole campground as well...nothing funnier than that LOUD CRUNCH.....and yep, I'm still waiting for those pictures... look at it this way too... I mean think about it.. (smiling) You have helped the ECONOMY ! You wanna run for office :)

Uh oh.. here's that loud sound again and flashing lights in the sky... gonna get out of town..maybe I better duck too.. (Dawn did you do that ????) You all have a great day and Stay Safe ...Those I've missed..I'll catch up with ya..uh oh there's that boom again.. later all....

As always...God's Blessing Shine Down On All...

The GPS did warn me of construction and traffic situation ahead, but there was no way around it. We were just 20 miles from the park and only way to it that I know of is I35. I just kept seeing my rig icon inching along toward the construction. Hopefully won't go through that again for a long, long time.

I see on the weather channel that there is flooding in Alabama. Isaac is going to hang around and flood everyone. It's back to hot here.

Judy, I have the same problems with my TV and other electronic things installed in my motorhome. I have learned more about some of that than I wanted to know. It's a pain that you have to reprogram the TV's every time you move. Who ever had my RV ran all kinds of wires behind the entertainment center and I don't know what most of it is for. It came with a DVD and a VCR, neither of which work. When I replaced the TV I got one with a built in DVD player. I can work that one. My son finally figured out how to wire the TV so the sound comes through the speakers. I was having a hard time hearing it. The over air antenna is even with the air conditioner so it doesn't pick up much.

I am trying to get in touch with my son to see if he can help me with a light in my motorhome. It makes me mad that I have to call them all day before they will call me back. When I'm with them they have their phones on them all the time. Last night I found out that I don't have any lights working inside.
