Hi and Welcome, Linda.

I do something called "workamping" to supplement my lifestyle. It doesn't, by a long shot, pay what I earned before - but has allowed me to travel and live this glorious lifestyle - let's see - started my 8th year this past June! And I know, no matter what the job, it won't last too long - I think the longest I've stayed on one job is 7 months, and that was returning to a place I wanted to. There are all kinds of places to work. Some want slave labor (I don't do those). Some want something I call just less than slave labor (I don't do those either). And some are very fair and offer lots to make it worthwhile. I look for those and am lucky to find them in places I want to go. And some don't advertise (like where I am currently) - but if you are resourceful, you can find them.

Glad to have you with us, and hope you can start living your dream, sooner rather than later.

Wecome to our group. So glad you found us. I am hoping to be on the road this winter and will also be looking to work on the road to suppliment my income but more importantly to get me out and meeting people or I will tend to hybernate. Jump in and post often and we love pictures.

Hi Linda Welcome to this site from someone who has just recently been welcomed to it! And I've also just recently learned that if I don't log on everyday, I miss a lot! What caught my eye in your msg was your "moving every few years"! Sounds like me! Bethers and Deb came up with a great suggestion of "workkamping"--(didn't know you ladies did that!) Hi and welcome Linda. I am just beginning my full time lifestyle after just recently losing my DH too. Deb and I went through that together at the time. You will find this is a great group of ladies. Very supportive and helpful with any questions. I, too, may be looking for Workamping opportunities in the future. Depends on how my money holds out. I know it's an option to allow me, like Beth, to continue this lifestyle. Doing this has been my dream for a lot of years. Hard to believe it is here.

Welcome Linda, I have moved quite alot in my life also and always knew it was probably the symptoms of being a gypsy at heart. I believe you meet this description also. We all know there is no utopia out there but I think we believe this great country might offer the closest thing. You will probably get lots of response on 'ways to earn money'. The www.workamper.com magazine is published in my hometown here in AR. I am just now downsizing, am living in my RV on my son's property. My house is now empty after having a giant garage sale and this week a friend and I will be making it shine and ready to show. I have a small business (pet store and aquarium rental) which I do all the bookwork on but rarely physically work in it. Paying others means not much income for me but it is new and my hope is for growth in the next few years. I know my days of 'shopping' for anything other than necessities is over. Most of us live frugally. I think we must enjoy living in small spaces. I knew this wouldn't be a problem for me. I have a 27' bumper pull trailer which I pull with a Ford 150.

Good morning, Linda, and Welcome to a Great Forum! You'll most certainly get oodles of good advice and suggestions.

I don't fulltime (and thankfully, know me well enough to know it's not for me, before I tried it and didn't like it), but my selection process took my brain though all the available options. I ended up choosing a small travel trailer because, as I had a husband at that time, I couldn't see leaving him "homeless" while I took a rig off to the grocery or off to do something he didn't want to do. I could take the van and leave him in the campground with the trailer. There would also only be one engine to maintain. And I wouldn't have to disconnect the water, sewer, and electric if I wanted to go somewhere.

Those are just some of the reasons on my list that led me to a travel trailer. Other ladies here went through a similar thought process and ended up on a different path...lucky we have so many choices!!

Welcome to the forum, Linda. I have moved around more times than I can remember. My mother always said she thought she had gypsy blood as she loved to travel, and I think I inherited it from her. I plan to have a home base in AZ for the winters but travel during the summers to cooler climes. I am retired and have no intentions of ever working again
