Got to carve out some time to do some major cleaning. With neither of us feeling well and then her in the hospital we haven't done much in the trailer to get organized and I know mom said y'all were askin for pics. I'd planned on starting Monday but they changed my sched and I'm workin 6 days straight, argh. Not off till Wednesday and Thursday next week and we're booked (cabins) tomorrow and Saturday. C'est la vie, lol!

Kelly - I'm so glad you are getting time with your Mom now that she's awake and aware you are there. And you know what, the cleaning can wait until you can get everything settled - well except for your cabin/bathroom cleaning. Gotta keep that job! :D

Just got home. I got there about 11:30. I mucked around at work... I wanted to take her a card to cheer her up but I couldn't find a decent one, they all stunk, lol. Finally gave up and got my butt over there. She was asleep but when I gave her a kiss on the cheek it woke her up. I was just going to sit for a while and read and if she woke up on her own I'd talk to her. Her voice is still froggy and she's still a bit groggy (lol, I rhymed...). It's good to see her lucid. Will probably take a couple more days for the stuff to wear off. Maybe I already said that earlier, lol, I'm tired myself. She's hungry, bored, sleepy, wants to get up and move around, butt hurts from sitting too much and I'm going to take her some mints tomorrow since she's still having issues swallowing. I had munchies with me but wasn't about to tell her. I told her I can't feed her, it's not like in the movies where someone sneaks food in cuz the patient is jonesin for a hamburger or something, lol.

She says whoever designed her bed is an idiot, lol. Took some tugging and then some help from a nice (strong) male nurse but we got her rolled to her side. She's so used to sleeping on her stomach, facing right, that it's hard to get comfy and she doesn't like being on her back. I don't know when she'll be able to eat. I don't know what they do in cases where a patient has issues swallowing. Part of it is probably from disuse/the tube and the other part of it is all the muck in her chest/lungs/throat. I'm gonna go back tomorrow nite if it's ok with the nurses (quiet enough). Maybe they could give her some broth or some pureed fruit like applesauce, something soft at least. Gives me more time with her than going between working here and wally world. I just keep thinking what a relief it is to talk to her. It was only 4 days that she was intubated but it felt longer. I may go and spend the whole day with her Wednesday. Michelle can let Shade out for me. They took another 500ml of blood today while I was there before work.

Well it's almost 3, need to get my butt to bed. I tucked her in, gave her mooches and she told me "I love you baby," and I told her "I love you mommykins." She still calls me babykins sometimes, lol. Thank you all again for your prayers and support, it's been a humongous help. I told her how happy everyone was that she was awake. I know she misses posting here.

~Kelly

ps. As far as the cleaning, I know she would appreciate it, it needs to be done. Just been too easy to put it off. All this extra room but right now it still feels a bit cramped because of the mess and there's stuff that needs to go over to storage.

God hears our prayers and this is such a wonderful example of answered prayer. I suspect we will get to know a new Echo. Making changes in a lifestyle is not an easy process, many, probably most of us can attest to this. She will have to follow Dr's orders, give up the cigarettes, exercise but life will be so much sweeter. A new job or her will be in our prayers as well. I am in awe of her toughness and strength. She's one remarkable lady and so are you Kelly. David sure seems like a keeper too so Echo did some things right for sure...love to both of you.

Sounds like you had a great visit with her. And I'm glad the nurses are being supportive. Pretty soon she will be in a regular room then home.

Just a quick note. She says hi, she misses you all and postin to her sistahs! She's having lunch; crumbled ground beef with gravy, fried taters, carrots, fruit cocktail and iced tea. And I gave her a pecan pinwheel, nurse said it was ok, hehe. She is so excited, dr's orders, they're gonna get her up later and sit her in a chair! David and his GF are coming down tonite to visit. Ok, gtg and gtw. Ttfn!

It is a relief to hear your mother is improving so rapidly. Twice while vacationing in your area we had rush family members to the hospital. Both times I found the doctors and nurses to be top notch and very caring. Listen to them. The challenge is going to be following the doctors' orders when your mother starts feeling better. Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated. I'll continue to pray for your mother's health and recovery.

Thank you GOD! I sit here in the campground with tears of thanksgiving for a gracious God who has put his healing hand on Echo. The road to recovery will be a long one but we all know she will come through it tougher and stronger.
