The First Day of the 9th Month

Good Morning from the 45th,

It's a chilly morning this morning. 45 degrees here. Fall is definitely coming down the road, slow but sure. The last big weekend of summer is upon us, the campground is full and our staff will be slowly leaving this weekend. Three people actually, followed by a fourth on Monday. And I just finished up my stint of afternoon shifts on Thursday Now back to 8-4:30 starting next week. About three more weeks and I too will be heading out the door.

Can't really off anything for breakfast around here other than some pancakes (frozen), sausage and eggs. Ate the last bagel just now and strawberries are about gone as well. You get the drift it's time to head for the store

Wow, that was certainly great news about Echo. Hopefully she will continue to improve and will be heading home before long. Nice to read some good news after all that has been going on lately. Echo to the hospital with unknown problems at the time, Red in a car accident, my co worker having to rush his wife to emergency, three days after she had a valve opened on her heart (is fine now) and my neighbor informng me that his wife is going to need more surgery due to a blocked air intake on one of her transplanted lungs.

Didn't say RABBITS this morning. Which by the way, where is Soos? Haven't seen her posting in awhile. Last I heard she was heading for VT for a bluegrass festival.

Ellen, as to my exiting before you. I don't want to work in 2014. I want to celebrate my 65th birthday year by hopefully taking a trip out west. So that's why I'm planning on working one more year. Who knows, after that trip, if I find my expenses getting tight or I want to do something besides putter around the house etc., I might go back to work again, even if just part time. Am going to take it one year at a time right now. Many of us have hopes and dreams on this forum only to see them get sidetracked for one thing or another.

Dawn, congrats on getting your mom's house all set to go. Now you can hit the road and be gone. I can imagine that it's unsettling to see the changes going on at your old place, but at least it's by somebody you know and not a total stranger. Enjoy your trip to OK.

Not much else new around here. Came home yesterday from work to fing a sign on the corner of my road that read "Fresh Tar". ACK! County had tarred over the tar and chips they put down about two weeks ago. Fortunately it was dry when I came in. I certainly didn't want that gook all over my Flex. My neighbor was out raking some of the gravel that got pitched off the road when they brushed it off last week, so now I have a nice pile of gravel next to my garage for a couple of projects I want to do here. I already have a couple of 5 gallong buckets full in my garage too. Hey, may as well, since it's been pitched into the grass and off the road itself. I swear there's enough along the road to cover a drive way.

Well, time to go read other posts and see what's new. When I head out for my vacation later this month, I can catch up on all the AK blogs and the forum stuff. Really looking forwrd to that.

good morning ladies
certainly is great to have a 3 day weekend, even if I can't go anywhere. Monday was scheduled for me, and of course I couldn't say not but will
spend the day at daughters to do all the last minute moving detail before the movers come on Tuesday to move all the furniture. But will spend
Saturday and Sunday detailing my room, or just say clean my room. Its been several weeks since I mopped the floor and that means I have
to move everything. You know that "but first" syndrome when you get into doing something, you start with something and then its "but first"
I have to do this, and then "but first" I have to do this. Needless to say, when I detail my room it also includes re-arranging my shelves and
sorting stuff out that has no business being up there and should just get pitched in the long run. So, yes a couple busy days planned but its all
good cause don't want to sit idle too long, its just not good for me.
Need to finish the baby afghan, down to the last 12 rows. I've only worked on it during my breaks at work cause never wanted to fight with the
dogs at home while they would try to get up in my lap and get little doggy hairs on it. If I get so inclined to finish it this weekend they will have
to spend a few hours in their kennel so I don't have to play the lap game.
I did remember to say "RABBITS" so maybe I'll have good fortune and health this month. I could use a little good fortune actually, although this
paycheck was a full paycheck, it played the catch up game at the bank and the only thing left is the $40 I'll need to put in the gas tank. So...the
September internet and phone bill will not get paid. If I disappear, don't worry, I'll be back and since they gave us back our internet at work
I can check in a little bit there, but have done very little posting as everything is recorded and logged on those computers.
So relieved Echo is on the mend, was really afraid when I saw that very first post from her as it was so jumbled up you could tell something was
very wrong.
Also glad the hurricane has spared our forum sistahs, but sad for the cities that got flooded out.
Will go catch up on Beths blog now and pour another cup of coffee. Saw some donuts on the counter in the kitchen, yum yum.

Good morning all. I remembered the rabbitts but not very first thing. So is that bad? First thing I heard was some sort of big dump truck or something a couple doors down. Don;t know what they were doing but they were doing it early! Sue, Soos was going to the bluegrass festival in VT I believe and won't have any internet there she said. I can sure tell I live in Alabama this weekend, because all talk is of football. Even on friday nights, the news has special coverage and rehashs EVERY high school game! I will head for the lake in a bit but in no rush. Everyone have a SAFE and FUN Labor Day weekend. Wendy

Morning! Gonna be a hot one today here!

I made reservations at fairly close state park in 2 weeks. I'm ready to get camping again. Red - it's at Brazos Bend if you want to come down. So now I can get in camping mode. Maybe I need to go give the Land Dinghy a once over - I'm pretty sure I do after using it when my house A/C went out.

We had rain three inches so far with the hope of more over the weekend It is however, really muggy out there.
I spent most of the week on the phone sorting out problems sure hope next week is different! Most turned out well but they sure don't make it easy to talk to anyone or anyone who can give answers. It took me 3 hours at an insurance office just to change from one carrier to another. I did come out with a better price and better coverage but I sure worked for it. Not the persons fault, the computer program she had to enter all the information in wasn't wanting to accept the information and she kept have to call the main office which was who knows where.

While I was at the insurance office, DH took Charley to a local vet who had Deremax, the arthritis medication that keeps him going and doesn't upset his stomach. Deremax is made by the company who makes Tylenol, Gas X, Sentinel heart worm preventative and many other drugs. Well the rumor is that the plant had so many recalls on their products they went in and found so many things wrong they shut the plant down and told them to build a new one. Makes you wonder why it got so bad before they forced them into something so drastic. Anyway, all these meds are almost impossible to find. I do have a 6 month supply of Sentinel but had run out of Deremax. When I got home found DH had paid $5.50 PER PILL which was an increase of $3.04 from April!! Needless to say I was on the phone politely asking if there had been a error made in the computer. I did buy the pills at our regular vet in April but, it just doesn't sound reasonable one would have such a difference. So...called the office manager and inquired as to possibility of a mistake. She looked back at her records and said when they had been able to get their last order it had increased significantly and then she got really upset also as we both had the same thought, is this price gouging due to the lack of supply. She is calling the distributor and inquiring so I'm anxious to hear back. There is an apothecary nearby and I've been trying for two weeks to get them to send the information to our vet of possible substitutes for the Deremax they can compound but so far it's still 'in process'
Off to yoga to soothe my ruffled nerves, all will be better soon.

Good Morning!

Cooling down here, too. Just heard the furnace kick on. I love that Fall is in the air. It's my very favorite season.

My GDs start school on Tues but have been going to soccer and volleyball practice already for the past 2 wks. So soon I will be attending games again.

Nursing a bit of a sinus issue this AM but I'm feeling better since smashing my toes and having a pinched nerve in my neck/shoulder area. Also someone stole my debit card # and racked up $852 in a Western Union money order. Got that straightened out fairly quickly but still made me upset.

Got another follow-up email this AM from my sister concerning my niece who is having problems stemming from neck surgery. After the surgery she had great pain in her one arm and swelling. They gave her steroids and now she's having racing heart/low bp problems to the extent that they are awaiting a room at Rush Pres. St. Lukes Hospital in Chicago as the battery of tests done already have all been negative. She's in the mid 40s.

My friend, Terri, and I are still trying to get a walking/hiking ladies group formed. Terri moved here from the Longbeach, WA area and led a group for 5 yrs and also a group in the Portland, OR area. I don't think the demographics here will sustain any great numbers as all the flyers etc have resulted in no takers. We are visiting different areas and mapping out hikes together.

Bowling starts up on Tues. I'm so excited as I love the sport, never see any improvement, but enjoy it just the same.

Overjoyed to see Echo has roused and able to communicate with Kelly. Scary times for that family. Been keeping up on the forum sisters, those traveling/visiting and also the hurricane scare. Lots of prayers always flying up!

Good Morning from Marysville, Washington

So nice to be back in the lower 48! However, I will be glad to get more into the 'country', not a big fan of big city traffic.

Today we will visit my friend Jan in Edmonds and spend the night at her house. She and I met at work in 1985. We don't keep in touch very well, but we always pick up right where we left off last time we visited.

Will get to the laundry this morning.

Good morning! I’ve had an enjoyable two days. Nan and Tina were here when I pulled in the driveway after work on Thursday and I certainly enjoyed their visit. Nan needed to leave Friday morning, so we said our goodbyes before we went to bed since I leave for work early. Tina stayed on for a rest up day. So we visited last night and I drug her to one of our Steel Magnolia happy hours at Missy’s house last night. She just pulled out a little while ago and is headed east. I foresee a nap this afternoon since I just haven’t slept well the last two nights worrying about the prospect axe murders parked in our yard! Although Tina’s knee is giving her trouble and I’m pretty sure that I could out run her.

The weather is finally cooling down from the triple digits that we experienced mid week, but still no sign of rain. Any of you experiencing too much rain could stand outside and blow it in our direction. We’d appreciate it.
