Update from Carolyn in Louisiana

Postby cpatinjones » Fri Aug 31, 2012 5:24 pm

Hello,

All is well in Butte La Rose. No damage! I have the yard, etc. back in order. Yeah!

Unfortunately, other area of Louisiana have note faired well. They are having problems from flooding and no electricity. It is so sad to see the pictures.

I was supposed to leave Sunday for a 4 night vacation in New Orleans. I just got a call informing me my reservations have been cancelled. It seems someone does not want me leaving Butte La Rose. So, I will return to work on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday). Hopefully, I will be able to take some time off when Sharon and Karen get her. I won't know untill I return to work on Tuesday.

I still have problems with my left shoulder/arm (fall from bicycle about 6 wks ago). The xrays showed no broken bones, but the MRI showed a few small tears in the rotar cuff, as well as inflamation and tendernitious. The orthopedic said he did not recommend surgery for small tears. He thinks I have bursitis. He gave me a coritsone injection, prescription for pain pills and shoulder exercises. In three weeks if it is till bothering me, he will give me another cortisone. The first injection has given me some relief, but not 100%. Hoperfully, the second injection will give me 100% relief.

Carolyn, glad you faired pretty well from Isaac. It is sad about other parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.

Hope the shot and pain pills do their job and you don't have to go have another. I have always heard those shots really hurt!

Carolyn I'm glad you came through OK. Did you get exercises for the rotator cuff? If so, do them. The surgery is no fun!

Glad to hear you faired well from Issac. We were supposed to get some much needed rain from Issac as he swung NW, but not in this area. Only got maybe 1/10 of an inch. The weather people said Wednesday is the next chance for rain. It is so dry that the grass doesn't crunch anymore. I hope that all affected by the storm will have an easy clean up and be able to get back to their lives soon. Linda

So glad you suffered no damage Carolyn. Take care of that shoulder..it will be slow healing but thank goodness these kind of tears will heal. We got enough rain that they pulled the burn ban. I had a pile ready all covered with a tarp so it would stay dry. I burned it this afternoon.. It was a good time, I put starter fluid to get a big fire going then a steady easy shower came down at the same time. My garage sale is over, house is empty except for furniture kept for staging, Karen and I will start cleaning on Monday then I will take pictures to put on the forum. I am tremendously relieved, it has been several weeks of stress and hard physical work but my fitness level is so much better. I'm no longer short winded, I can lift easily and my back has held up very well...I love living in my small space. My son tinkers in his garage every night. He has a TV and recliner in the garage that I gave him and I take my beer, wine or other adult beverage over almost every night and visit with him. I just love it, and he seems to. I told him to run me off any time.
Enjoy what is left of weekend.
