Getting Hot Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Getting Hot Thursday

Good Morning Ladies,

I can tell that Isaac is affecting a number of our forum sisters by their absence for Coffee in the morning. It sounds like Isaac is turning into a worst case scenrio for MS, AL and LA. I certainly hope that none of our forum sisters, Marth, Vickie, Carolyn, Wendy and whomever else is in it's path down there, suffer much flooding or damage to their homes or properties. I know they will keep us up to date when they are able. My cousin's granddaughter is also in Baton Rouge going to LSU and last I heard, she and her friends were making preparations for the storm.

I have pancakes and sausage here for breakfast, topped with pure Michigan Maple Syrup if anybody's hungry.

Ellen, I have been working at the State Park for 16 years. In the winter I am on seasonal layoff and collecting unemployment for as long as I am eligible. And yes, I am considering not going back to this park cause of the change in management, but might anyway, cause I don't plan to work the summer of 2014 and in a way it's kind of crazy to start at another park just for one year. After I talk with the SS people in March, I will have a better idea of where I stand and what I am going to do. I do have to admit that the winters can get a bit long sometimes, but hopefully I have squirreled away enough project ideas to keep me busy this winter.

You bet I am looking forward to that vacation. Here and again, it's been ongoing for about 8 years and then one year with my dad when he was still living. i love that place and have considered moving up to that area a few times. There is also a State Park near there that I would love to work at, but don't know if I could swing renting someplace up there and having the expenses of this place down here both.

Going to be a bit warm here today, 89 they are saying, but a strong southwest wind, and that helps keep things comfty. Not sure yet if I will wear my work pants into work or my shorts. It's a bit cool out right now. Can always change into either one at work.

Judy, the pasties sound good. I would use the ready made pie crust too if I were making some. I don't make pie crusts, so that would take care of it. Quicker that way too. I've never made any myself and I should, cause I do like them. Just had one over the weekend from a Pasty Co. up in WI that's ships them frozen to our local grocery store. Good, but not as good as homemade of course. Burned the back of my hand when I took it out of my toaster oven and bumped the edge of the oven opening :o Ouch. One band aid and a lot of salve and Neosporin being applied these days. I'll live :) You also asked if I'm sure I want to keep an S&B. There are days when my soul longs for the open road, but I also like to putter in the yard and work on little landscaping projects. But where I am here, I have too much sun and I don't enjoy working out in the sun. If I had a smaller yard, it would be nice. This summer here is a bit busier than usual for me as I'm trying to get projects that need doing done this year. And with my neighbor's wife having that lung transplant surgery, I've added two more yards to the mix so to speak. But I've been able to keep a balance between working and dong them especially now, with things slowing down. Granted, there have been days when it's "let me out of here", but I'll be free in about three more weeks.

Time to get ready for work, so must be getting along here. Keep safe all those in Isaac's path, those on the road and everybody else, have a great day.

Good morning from Haines, AK. Birdie and I leave Alaska today on the ferry to Prince Rupert, BC. We may not have Internet service for a week or two as we travel through Canada. I'll be praying for those in need and be checking in when I can.

Liz - you and Birdie be safe. I'm sure it's bittersweet leaving Alaska after your great adventures.

Today is my last day at work this week - I have a 4 day weekend coming up.

Just texted Redwahine and she said she felt like she had been run over by a truck - well she had! She definitely still has a sense of humor.

Good morning everybody. Sue, thanks for thinking about me but here we've had no real effects. Just cloudy rainy gloomy weather. Past hurricanes have given us heavy rain and tornados up this far, but this has turned away from us. Of course, gas is going up. Hope all my La friends have come through okay. I will continue to think of Echo, will check later to see if Kelly left an update. Everyone have a good safe and fun day. Wendy

Morning all -- or I should say "Afternoon, all!" Even here in the Pacific Northwest, it's afternoon now. Except for Liz and Birdie I guess.

Sue - Ouch! on that burn. I'm glad you're proficient with the First Aid kit. Your future work plans make sense. Sounds like you're aiming to give the job a shove about a year before me.

Liz - Sad for where you're leaving, glad for where you're going. (Something my son said as a little boy when his visit to his grandmother's house was coming to an end.) You have many re-entry miles ahead of you still. And Oh! what a store of memories you've created - for all of us!

Maggie - Yay for 4-day weekends! I have half a day tomorrow, then a 3-1/2-day weekend. And oh, what a good weekend it'll be.

Wendy - I'm glad your area is unaffected by Isaac so far. (Alabama, right?)

Quiet day here, trying to get a few more things done wrapping up camp registrations and statistics before the end of the month. Some pampering on the nails and toes tomorrow, plus a few hours of data entry, and then a fun meeting with a new friend on Saturday and maybe some real live poking into motorhomes on dealers' lots. No buying, no buying, no buying (<--new mantra)

Evening all,

Worried about Echo too. Will keep watching for updates from Kelly.

Hope all the Louisiana and Mississippi ladies are doing OK with no flooding.

Good luck with your mantra Ellen!

We are definitely seeing light at the end of the tunnel in Mom's house. Have her back deck packed full of big black trash bags to take to road for pickup tomorrow. After that, just need to move all her basement storage items to the back deck until Paul's MH gets back from the Ford dealership. He needs his brakes checked out. They are really backed up with MH's right now, so he is staying in Mom's house on the one remaining recliner. They are supposed to let him know something tomorrow. Then all we have left to do is empty and clean her refrigerator, then sweep and mop. She called today and is having a company come in tomorrow evening to clean her carpets. We should be done tomorrow night! Woohoo! Right now, I am planning on being on the road Tuesday morning for 2 weeks in Oklahoma.

After that, we are coming back to Ft. Worth area to have some things I have ordered installed in and on the coach. Will also get the dolly to tow Mom's car at that time. Going to ask oldest DD if we can leave it parked at her house for the 2 weeks we are gone. It will sure be great to be finished tomorrow night. I cannot imagine having a weekend to just relax and enjoy.

Hole everyone has a great evening!
