The LA sisters are in my thoughts and prayers this morning. I know you are prepared, but pray the storm diminishes and makes those preparations unnecessary. We have cable TV in the cg, so am keeping up with things that way. WAtched more TV yesterday than I did all summer, lol.

It's raining here in Haines too with gusty winds where we are parked on the coast. So today will likely be an inside day...catching up on blogs, cleaning (ugh), or maybe take in a museum.

Spent the morning at the dentist...just cleaning, xrays, etc. :D This afternoon is my follow up visit with the eye surgeon after a procedure to correct something after having implants :) In between I have to scrub a big yellow spot from the carpet where Tyler vomited. It takes him quit awhile to recover from being at the kennel for 2 weeks

I have the weather channel on in the background and watching the progress of Isaac. Praying Isaac poops out before it can do too much damage. Forum Sisters (and their families) in harms way are in my prayers and thoughts that all stay safe.

Isaac is now a hurricane, 75mph winds. We're not expected to have much problems in SW LA. I emptied the rain gauge and will watch it fill back up.

One of the reporters is standing in Canal Street. He's going to be a casualty if he doesn't get out of the street.

It's still sunny here but a little breezy. No rain yet.

At least we'd hear about something other than Katrina...oh wait, somehow they'd link it anyway.

What an experience we had last night! For the past few days I've noticed a funny sort of acrid odor in the house. Well, last night about eight it got so bad I called The Handy Man and he came to the rescue. He thought at first it was an electrical problem but after much searching discovered the dehumidifier was very hot to the touch and had leaked what looked like oil. He carried it outside and put it over in the side yard it smelled so bad! I think it was a combination of melting plastic and the oil. He couldn't get the smell off his hands from where he touched the oil! He opened the basement windows and turned on a fan. I was freaking out as odors bother me so much so I went out to sleep in the RV. Pretty soon I started coughing even more and I realized I was parked next to where they just ground up the stump from what they called, because of the smell....a p iss oak tree. So, back inside and opened all the windows in the back room and spent a restless night. Thank goodness it was cool as I didn't want to turn the A/C on until the smell was gone. Still a slight notice of it in the basement this morning but not bad. I'm so glad I called someone DH kept saying wait until morning...it's a good thing I didn't wait as it was about ready to burn!
Today has been fun filled trying to get someone at Fridgedare to tell me if there was a recall on the model we have. Never did get an answer but the second woman I talked to was nice and said someone would call within 48 hours about a replacement. I'm not holding my breath :(. I figure it will take more phone calls, meanwhile will have to get another one soon as rain expected on Thursday and we will definitely need one going.

Keeping all of you in the storms path in my thoughts today

Stay safe, all of you who will be effected by Isaac.

One of the things that bothered me about Katrina, and I'm sure will about Isaac, is that many areas outside of New Orleans were majorly effected and pretty much ignored. Like how devastated Mississippi was. I'm hoping for no major devastation, but also would like the news to give us all the news. (OK, I know, I'm asking too much. They can sure put fear into all of us - but after the fact, they pick and choose which reports are the worst, and stick with them over and over.)

Off to get ready for work. Thought I might have tomorrow off, but they've booked it - so next day off Sunday. :) Then Monday (Labor Day) will be the final cruise of the season.

Watching the weather too now that I am back from working on cleaning Mom's house. Am praying for everyone's safety. I know all you ladies are smart enough to get out of the way of Isaac. I was just watching a bunch of fools in New Orleans talking about how fun it was and what a party they were going to have. Surely they weren't there when Katrina hit. My brother and SIL live just outside Jackson, MS so hoping they will be OK too. Weather man was just saying Isaac is tracking more to the west, so hopefully they won't get too much rain.
