In Memory of Herschel

Postby BirdbyBird » Mon Aug 27, 2012 12:45 am

Can't really talk about it...but the rig is awfully quiet and Remi is looking around and missing his "protector".... When we left for the trip I knew that the odds were that he would not make it back to Ohio. And I sometimes worried that he would "crash" while we were in the middle of the Yukon or sitting in Denali..... But Herschel didn't want to miss any of that stuff and he didn't. He enjoyed the journey and sniffing new places and meeting new people right up until he didn't.

Oh Tina I am so sorry. Big hugs to you and Remi. He was the best dog and had many friends who will always remember him. You were truly blessed to have shared his life and to have been a part of all the happy smiles he gave to his friends at the nursing home.

Tina, I am so sorry for your loss. I imagine your heart is breaking. He was such a wonderful companion and friend for you. I never had the pleasure of getting to know him, but everything I saw told me he was a wonderful dog. He will always be with you in your heart. You and Remi can hold onto each other while you work through these coming days.

Sad news Tina, but Herschel has moved on to another place. I loved that dog. He was the best camping dog ever.

Tina, I am so very sorry. I, too, loved that dog!
He's sure going to be missed, but oh - all the love he spread around everywhere he went...
I still remember the first picture I ever saw of him when I joined this Forum - It was love at first sight.
Everyone will miss that very special dog!

Tina....I've been a full half hour trying to compose myself enough to write this....Ernie & I feel so privilege to see Herschel one more time last Friday...He was happy to see us and gave each of us his special nose snuggle greeting...along with that famous tail wag...Ernie says that Herschel touched many hearts and made many friends, be they hooman or doggie, along the way. He will be greatly missed.

I've copied and pasted the above from my post on FB, because I just couldn't compose myself enough again to write another.....We both are very sad about his passing...Hugs to you, Tina, and to Stuart and Remi....

Much Love, and a big "Puppy kiss", too..

Herschel was loved by so many whether they had the chance to meet him in person or not. And the world was enriched by his presence. There are so many wonderful pictures of him. I think I like the last one Mitch posted the best, the one with Tina on the couch. Hugs, Tina. There are no words that can make it better at this minute but he will always be with you in your heart.

Many (((((((((((Hugs))))))))) to you Tina and the other pups. I know you are all missing Herschel so much right now.
Just know that everyone who met Herschel loved him and he loved you.
You gave him the chance to take his last journey, and what a journey it was! (bear scat and all)
I'm not lost, I'm on an adventure!
