I did it!!

Ladies, I made a decision. After thinking about a TT and 5er and asking you lots of questions. I have decided that staying with a motorhome is the way to go for me. I currently have a 1996 Airstream Landyacht and after two major breakdowns on the raod ( air hose blew out and engine computer quit working) my friends and relatives convinced me to look for something else. Since I could not afford a new MH, I was looking at other options since I had a diesel pick-up. But I found her/him; a 2005 Gulfstream BT Cruiser 5250. It was on the lot as I was debating between TTs. At 25 feet the size is great; double slides in the cabin so lots of room for me and my two dogs when we stop. Only negative is there is no bedroom, but the sofa is a hide a bed. Will get a new matress; hopefully an air type will fit. Put a deposit down and went through the list of items to be rectified. One concern is the "house batteries". It seems like it will be very difficult to check them; they are in a very awkward and tight place. Are there sealed house batteries that do not need water? If so how are they maintained? Any other comments or suggestions on what to check or do before I go back to the dealer would more than welcomed. Thank you for all of your help so far. I feel that I have a new circle of friends.

COngratualtions....and depending upon what is under the sofa it may be possible to swap it out for a "day bed".... If it only has to sleep one and the dogs don't require their own 30 inches of space....

In my unit I removed the jack knife "I could never really get it comfortable" sofa for a 33 inch mattress placed over a storage box that was built around the water tank but still allowed some extra easily accessible space.

Have fun figuring it all out.

Oh I know your old one was a Land Yacht - but to me most MH's are land yachts. Now mine is a Land Dinghy - too small to be a land yacht. And oh yeah, mine is not a MH but a TT.

You are correct, the sealed house batteries do not need water. If your compartment is hard to access, they would be worth the added cost.

And congrats!

Good Job! Probably will be easier for you to get around in and as long as it has enough room for you and the doggies. Waiting for pictures of the whole family!

Thanks for the replies. I may try the day bed idea, but first I need to pick it up. They have a list of "fixes" before I sign on the sold line. If you want to see pictures now Google midstatescampers.com and click on "C". Mine is the Gulfstream BT Cruiser 5250. They have 8 pictures posted. If you look closely you will see the damaged rear bumper which is one of the fixes. If you get any decorating ideas when you view the pics I will welcome comments.
