It's Saturday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It's Saturday!

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 25, 2012 5:07 am

Morning everybody,

Well, here we are, Saturday and another week almost gone. One more day and that's it. And next weekend is Labor Day. So much for summer. Although summer doesn't end officially till middle of next month, everybody tends to roll in the carpet Labor Day weekend. Heck, we still have nice weather for a couple two or three month yet, not as warm perhaps, but what the heck.

Heading for some record high temps today. Around 89 here. Won't last long. One day and then low 80's tomorrow and headng down from there. I'm going to finish painting my deck on Monday. Just the trim work left. Also plan to do my fence gate and the corner posts. Fence gate needs a good overhaul, but might not do that till a bit later on after I am done working.

Little by little, the staff at the park are leaving for school or onto seasonal layoffs. By 15th of next month, it looks like it's just going to be myself and my two co workers left till end of month roughly. Well, there are the two permanent Rangers and the boss. I'm pretty sure that we will be done by middle of the last week of Sept. unless boss stretches us out by giving us an extra day off or something. We are running out of hours for the season as we are only allowed to work 1040 a year. So I have made my reservations to head to the U.P. on the 30th for a week of just doing what I want, no wake up times, no bathrooms waiting to be cleaned, no schedules etc. :D

BJ, I know the feeling of a bit too much expenditures at once. Tessa has cost me a small fortune in Dr. visits, meds etc., my insurance for both my home and vehicle were due this month and my property taxes are due in two weeks. Only the summer taxes. Will get the winter bill in December. And with everything going up, it's hard to keep up these days. But I guess we can take heart in that once these big bills are paid, then we can relax until the next batch arrives

Barbie, hope things have settled down at your place. Definitely gotta get your own place. You have been going round and round with roomates for what seems like forever. Hang in there.

Dawn, hope you find your embroidery machine. When one is rushing to get things moved and packed etc. and stressed out, it's easy to forget where we put something.

Well, gotta get going here. Nothing new to report. So you all have a wonderful day. Talk to you later.

Good Morning Sue and Everyone else that peeks in :)

Sure hoping things are going better for you and Ms Tessa...I've gotten to the point where I no longer look at
what I've spent on Vet bills...it's either you do or else...and I know that sounds awful but that's how lately things
are looked at... I've seen so many people lately that have had major issues with their fur babies..and I pray that
they can get through it... When you go to an Emergency Clinic it's ...How are you gonna pay ???? OMG.. I couldn't
believe it if I didn't hear it myself... I just feel so bad for those that can't...What ever happened to caring ???

Don't wanna get on that note cause that's so much a bummer...and today I need more lift..(not in my shoes)..

Dawn I know you are beaming to get out on the road and I can't wait to read all your travels too..you are doing great
and things are really looking up !!..

Barbie, wow I just read by the campfire again about your room mates...Did I some how leave Murphy with YOU ? OMG
woman get out of there..you don't need to be around that.. and I agree with Pat as she put it out there for you to
understand what could happen... I'm praying you'll just move in with your Dad till you get into that apt...that's safer !

Ok, now what's on for Me (my family) well today I'll have company...you know those loud Italians LOL and I've been
doing a little prep work...Made Hamburger rolls yesterday and last night before going to bed I put in my big crock pot
pork so it's pulled pork on a bun with cole slaw...and right now ..YES Sharon ! I have that Banana Bread Bars with Brown Butter going on... so that will be dessert and what ever my kin folks bring too....and if it rains ..well they'll all be in the house..LUCKY ME LOL>..nah they are neat and lots of fun..cause they is just so excited to see us...it's kind of our
welcome home and ..Ya leaving already LOL...soon I'll be heading back to Florida the 1st week of Oct..and that's around the corner....

So with that I'll say..."Have a great day all " and for all of you as always...God's Blessing Shine Down On All !

good morning ladies,
really looking forward to today, only routine chores to do and the summer has broke and its all downhill from here. One last week of tight budget
and then the full paychecks kick in. What a relief and actually have a trip planned for saturday after labor day. The Boyce Thompson Arboretum has
been calling my name for a couple years now and its about to get answered. I can hardly wait. Its just a day trip but will finally be a reality.
Did I mention I got a propane bbq grill? It was daughters and she didn't need it anymore cause the new house had one much bigger. Brought it
home Wednesday, needs a good cleaning and its good to use. Has a little burner on one side and a little work table on the other. The propane
tank still has propane in it so thinking this evening we'll bbq some chicken for dinner. Put fixins on the grocery list to make up some kabobs
for the following weekend and have a bunch pre-made for the freezer.
Ok, now thats I've brought up food my tummy is hungry. Have left over pizza of which son saved for me since I was sleeping last night when it
arrived and a fresh pot of coffee is awaiting me. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

The day has dawned bright and sunny once again, and it's suposed to get warm enough to maybe swim this afternoon, in my little pool, before I drain it for the wintering over. My neighbor and friend, Issy, has agreed to go with me to VT for the bluegrass festival next week, so I guess I need to begin stocking up for that. It's a bit under 200 miles, I believe, and I am hoping the little town of Bridgewater has at least one good grocery store where we can buy what we don't take with us. It is so beautiful here, however, and I have everything I need including internet, TV, view, water, septic, that I am wondering why I am going anywhere! I suppose it will be good to see a new place and listen to some good bluegrass-type music, and perhaps sit around some campfires with others pickin' and strumming at nights.

We might leave tomorow, or maybe not until Monday. It depends on which day Richard will be leaving, as I would like him to be there when I get there so he can tell me a good place to park, etc. If I leave tomorrow, I won't have any internet access for over a week, so carry on and I will try to catch up when I get back.

Happy Saturday to all.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning Sue, Barb and all to follow.

Sue, sure hoping Tessa is doing better. I understand about the vet bills. I just cringe when I walk through that door with one of my fur babies. Right now Luke's medicine is costing me $50 for 20 days worth. Got to go get two more bottles before I leave out of here. When we get back in November, he'll have to have his battery of tests again to see if his liver functions are improving. Glad your job is winding down and you can enjoy sleeping in, etc.

Barb, that big noisy Italian family sounds like fun. I know I told you Chuck was Italian, so all our family times were loud and boisterous too. Lots of laughter and yelling across the room to get someone's attention. Will miss that.

I overslept this morning. Did not get up until 7 and am still sitting here drinking my coffee. It started raining right after I got the dogs back in this morning. That's OK with me. I am enjoying the rest. Supposed to clear off later so will get back to work on getting Mom moved in then.

I have been enjoying my time to myself. I really needed it but it's going to be a bigger adjustment for Mom than me living with someone again. My biggest concern is her little Yorkie. He has never really been fully housebroken. That is something I will be working on immediately! He is huge reason for the tile floors and the SpotBot (I think that's what it's called) in one of the storage bins for the small amount of carpet I have. Mom was already in her late 70's when she got him. With her mobility issues, she was not able to take him out frequently when he was a puppy. When they would go camping with us in the 5er, I would watch him and take him out when he would get to looking for a spot. I think I will be able to get him housebroken fairly quickly. My babies now go to the top of the coach stairs and look at me to let me know they need out. They are adjusting really well and I am so proud of them.

Going to catch up on the forum posts now to see how everyone is doing. Have a wonderful day everyone!

I am up early and so happy to be on the road again! Yea!!! By the way, getting up early is a very recent thing. All my life I have been sleeping in, especially all those years I worked and had to drag myself out of bed. Working two jobs and doing all of my grading of papers late at night no doubt has not helped. So now I wake up, with no schedule whatsoever, and I keep waking up early! Figure that!

Sue, you are right about summer being over, however, remember that old movie about the surfers, called The Endless Summer?? That is what I am now chasing. Or at least the endless spring. And Fall is absolutely the best time in Michigan with sunny days and crisp mornings!

Now that I have full hookups and am no longer in my son's driveway, I did some cleaning last night and this morning and all is shiny and nice. This campground is the first one I have ever been in that I said I would like to return sometime for a whole week. It is near the freeway, but is spotless and quiet, with paved patios and roadways, and level gravel pads with green grass and huge spaces. Hookup posts even have lights on them!! They have a clubhouse and pool, so I suspect it was built as a condo/RV development. It is about half-empty but seems to have a lot of permanent residents in very new and nicely kept motorhomes, larger trailers, and 5th wheelers--none of the beat-up 30 year old trailers with junk strewn around. Name is River Run RV Park and I will post a recommendation.

Onward today to Kingman, Arizona, and then the next day to Grand Canyon where I will be for a whole week. Driving will be hot today, but I will just drive through.

Judy, that park does sound really nice. I have always been an early riser. Used to get up every morning to fix Chuck's dinner meal at 4:30. He worked 2nd shift and ate his main meal before he went to work. Since I worked in an office, my hours were the normal 8 to 5. I would take a nap about 9 or 10 at night and then get back up at midnight to fix him a small meal when he got home at 12:30. We would watch TV and spend time together until about 2 and then we would go to bed. I definitely understand about not getting much sleep. Now sleeping until 6 am seems like a real luxury.
