My introduction

Hi, I am a retired 67 yo woman who lives Southwest of Boston,MA with my spouse and cat. We own a 35 ft fifthwheel and pull it with a Chevy 2500HD diesel truck which is now 10 years old(both truck and fiver). We belong to two groups, Sunshine Wheelers (Good Same Group) and RVing Women. Both are great groups but most enjoy RVing Women because it is all women learning and traveling in their RVs. Very supportive chapter that we belong to called the Northeast Network and highly recommend RVing Women and now WomenRV to any woman who loves to RV with tent, trailer, class B,C or A. Support from women is very different from male support. Women let women learn where I find men want to do it for you and you do not learn much. I personally would not enjoy being out on the road alone but I have friends how LOVE it, they go and stay where they want when they want and do not need to check with anyone else if it is ok. Then they get together at campgrounds with friends when they want to. I believe there is room for all kinds of organizations that are supportive or us RVing. Hope to get to a get together with WomenRv and wonder how to find out about any of the meet ups you gals may have. IF someone would like info about RVing Women I am more than glad to help. It does cost about $40 a person to join and then if you join a chapter it may cost or it may not mattering on which chapter and if they charge for their membership.
I am very interested in how people do things to make life easier while RVing and do have some tips and tricks I could share.
Look forward to reading the forums here which I really miss at RVing Women, they do not have an active forum, not sure why.

Hi. I have trouble calling you "RVer" cause we all are that When you feel more comfortable, would be great to have a name - or personal nickname.

As to get togethers - formal ones are listed in advance in the get together room. Anyone can plan one. Informal ones happen all the time as we travel and make impromptu plans to meet with those on our routes.

Welcome to the forum. As you probably noted this group has no annual dues and the gtg are informal and each of us pays for our site....with usually a pot luck or two thrown in by the time it is all over. From there what every anybody want to do...they do. For many of us that means some hiking and lots of sitting around the camp fire swapping stories. Some of the ladies love the shopping and goinf out to eat route, too...so as you can see one size does not fit all...

Check out the members map. It may not have everyone on it....only those that request to be listed......but it would give you an idea of who out your way that you could meet up with easily.....

Hi RVer, we also belong to RVing Women, Oregon Chapter and I've been enjoying this forum also. As you said, the more we women band together, learn together and share information, the more prepared we are to enjoy what once was a "man's" world (we women were allowed to come along to cook, clean and serve -yuck) Heck, I can still remember camping trips as a family. My mom and I (I was the oldest, therefore the 'helper') had more work to do than at home. I hated going family camping.

We just posted many pictures of our ORVW chapter rally at Crater Lake last weekend, in case you want to check them out. Oh! almost forgot. I was born and raised in Manchester, NH! just a hop, skip and jump from you. Had relatives in Redding and Sudbury, Mass. I still have many cousins in Massachusetts and plenty of family and friends in NH. At least one more cross country trip to see the fall foliage and eat our fill of Maine lobster w/ steamers is on our bucket list.

If you ever find yourselves in Portsmouth, NH, my two sisters just opened a Kilwin's (candy, ice cream, caramel apple, all the goodies) store at 20 Congress St. Their names are Sylvette (general manager) and Janette (owner). Tell them Paulette sent you! they'll flip out LOL...

Welcome, RVer! Have you been RVing for 10 years then? That's a lot of experience to share and I, for one, hope to relieve you of some of that heavy knowledge! I've loved Boston each time I visited, as well as most of the north Atlantic coast.

I camped with my boys until they left and I looked for years for groups to camp with. None of the Good Sam clubs were a good fit for me. My DH doesn't want to travel or camp and the clubs were mostly couples. About 4 years ago I found RVing women and I'm still friends with some of the women I met at my first rally. The group that we call the Pink Flamingos is some of the women that met through RVing Women, friends of friends, women from the forum and women we have picked up along the way. We don't care if you bring your dogs or your DH or your friends. I understand that organizations have to have rules but some times it gets to be too much drama with big clubs.

The RVing Women forum was just getting active and they started "fixing" the web site and the forum never recovered.

As I have said, each group has it's good points. This forum is very active, almost impossible (in a good way) to stay updated! The information, ideas and solutions within it's pages is amazing. Luckily there is a core of very active posters. RVing Women chapters have rallies every month for most chapters and all are welcome at any. Rallies are posted on the website so you can plan which to attend when you are on the road. I also like having a printed membership directory as most members are very willing to come to the aid of a fellow member. I personally know women who have broken down or had some mishap at a campground and local members have come to their aid. We've never attended a "samboree", I've looked at pictures in the magazine and they seem to 'busy' for us. Oh.. furry kids are always welcome at our rallies. In fact I think sometimes there are more dogs and cats then people! (I think we have a ferret too).

Thanks for the Welcome to WomenRV. I am an active member of Rving Women and love it and will try to be active at this one as well. Theys seem to be different in some ways but the common thread is that we are women and love RVing.
Boston area is GREAT, an hour and we are in Maine or NH. 3 hrs and we are in Vermont. The coast is wonderful, the mountains are great, foliage is glorious! We RV at least once a month and this year, having retired last November, we have RV'd more this summer and we are loving it.
If I can help anyone with problems if I know the solution I surely will help.

Hi Rver welcome! I am a single (DH just passed away a few months ago) and travel with my Doxie Duncan. Live in a small town in SW NH. I haven't joined RV Women but am thinking about it. Hope to be on the road full time very soon, but have to sell my house first. Working very hard on getting it 30 years of stuff cleaned out. Post often and we love pictures.
