The hide-a-key business is a good idea. I agree that I should probably just hide a door key somewhere on my rig. I keep extra keys inside, so I always lock the deadbolt when I leave. There are some bay doors that contain things that no one would want to steal (my inexpensive little bbq), so I could hide keys in those. The only bay doors I really want to keep locked contain my little air compressor in the big bay (which has a power outlet) and my electrical bay, which contains my 50- and 30-amp surge protectors and my 50 amp power cord extension -- plus a variety of pigtails that I've gathered along the way.

On another site they were talking about a lot of keys for many RVs being the same number. I checked mine and none was the same as they were talking about. Does anyone know where one could find out what the most common key numbers are? I don't know if mine are OK or the same as my neighbors in the CG.

I thought about you yesterday - wondering how it was going - if you had it, etc. I know there is so much to do & organize before you head out. How exciting that you are staying in it already. I loved being in mine in the many rain storms I encountered on the way home - just pulled into a parking lot, turned off the engine, went into the back to make a sandwich & relax a while

I'm still adjusting to the idea that I have mine - no name yet & sorry no pics yet. Still introducing her to the family...

Yes, the CH 751 was the one they talked about. When I checked mine, none had that number. Hope that means my keys aren't the same as others.

KEYS- Get a "Hideakey" and put the door key in that so if you lock your ignition key in rig you can get in and get it but if it were found it would not be able to start the ignition(IF they are different keys) Hide somewhere like behind your propane tank which is usually in and unlocked storage container. OR under something it will not fall off but when you get to the campground check to make sure it is there. I put a hook (carabiner) on my keys so when I leave the rig I hook the keys to the ignition to my pant loop. I keep the door and compartment keys on a separate carabiner and so they are kept separately, ALSO if you travel with someone, they should have a duplicate set of keys of ignition and door and compartment keys.

Well, I managed--oh no, can't get the "bold" off! ...Anyway, I managed to keep track of my keys by immediately putting them into my pocket as soon as I took them out of the ignition. But for future, I will get a spare and do the "hide-a-key" thing. ...Loved being on the road, but isn't it funny that coming home, I say "ah, I love my home!" I spent a good part of the day getting him prepped for the next trip--all the "comforts of home" plus all the necessities in case of emergency--first aid kit, tool kit, and duct tape! A neighbor walked by--well, several who wanted to see what the hail I brought home!--but this one asked if I was going to get a gun! I really don't want to go that route--any thoughts on that? I'm thinking maybe some mace, but I've traveled so much in my little cars, and have never even bothered with that. Just wondering what any of you do for "that" kind of security. I have dogs that bark at anything that moves outside the van, but yes, a predator could offer them a nice "treat" or even mace them? And ladies, I'm still totally in the dark about posting pix! Will figure that out someday! Hope you are all having a great start to your weekend!

There is a neat little area in the upper right portion of the screen called Advance Search. I have found it very handy to put in a subject I was interested in and look to see what might have already been posted about this. Try "protection" or "guns" and you will find some good threads debating this. You can always reopen that post if you have additional questions but it's a great way to find stuff.

You will find directions for using Picasa to post pictures under the Technical forum. I find it much easier to use than photobucket. I actually use Picasa to edit and manage all my photos.

Thanks for the tip on the "advance search"--now I can read up on stuff before I bother will silly questions! I like the wasp spray idea! That and my barking dogs should make me feel safe enough. Ha! Finally took a day off from "playing" with my new toy, getting back to the reality of house and yard work! Hope you all had a good weekend!
