Vickie, that is terrible! Unfortunately, like you, I doubt they'll find anything or the people. Stinks. Did you have homeowners insurance to get something back that way? Hope so. So sorry to hear this. This is a big difference: intentional downsizing versus the forced downsizing you just encountered. Yuck.

Hugs to Vickie and Zee. Pets have a way of entering our hearts, even when we don't realize it. So sorry for your and hubby's loss.

Vickie, that really su__s. Guess with things the way they are, there will be more theft. Sorry this happened to you and Ronnie. Linda

Two sad posts to respond to, after being absent for so many days now'

Vickie----being robbed always leaves one with a feeling of being violated and gypped----I can thoroughly empathize with Ronnie for wanting to bash the thief's head in. I would be right behind him. What a horrible finish to a camping trip-----hugs to you both.

And, Barbzee----35 years shared with a soul is more than many people get to know. I can't imagine how empty the house is now without Medusa doing her parrot thing every day. ML on the ORS site also just lost her McCaw after 15 years with him, and she, too is devastated. Each little soul we lose leaves an emptiness within us that will take time to heal over----big hugs to you and your husband for your loss.

There's been a lot of thefts around this area recently (from cars and boats mostly) and the police have discovered that it is local high school kids who are selling the stolen things to support their heroin addictions. Seems there is a real problem in the local schools with that. My nephew was a heroin addict when he was in high school here several years ago. He is now clean and sober and going to school to be a police officer!

My roommates never lock their cars or the house (which makes me nervous since we are tucked way back in the woods). I always lock my car.

Over the years we have been lucky that we haven't had more stolen. We had some things taken at a motel which makes me nervous about staying in motels. Years ago someone took a cell phone and radar detector out of one of the trucks and we think it was a kid that lived in the neighborhood. It still makes you mad that someone took your stuff. We live on a dead end road with only 5 families but it goes to the river and there are barges tied up on the river. Guys that work for the barge company go back there so I'm not too happy with their traffic. I use to walk to the end of the road but now I stay within sight of the house.

I have a different feeling about locking our vehicles. We leave the keys in the old farm truck. If someone wants to steal it rather than come in the house looking for keys have at it. I don't leave my GPS in the van. The only other thing in it would be groceries and cat food that didn't get unloaded. They can have that too.
