Where's Liz? McCarthy and Kennecott

I am so glad to have finally gotten to see those two mining towns. I have thought of them often, such a nosey person I am, , But that road !! 60 miles of it ???, our decision not to try it yrs ago, seems to have been a very wise one. Your pictures were great, Liz, and now I know where the buildings are that I see in so many pictures, the red ones climbing the mt. side.

I am so glad that you all went there and you covered most of the trip with pictures and history of the towns, so well, and you took us with you !!

totally enjoyed the trip and fully agree wouldn't take the rv that way...loved the story of the kids using the train for play oops...wonder what mom did???

I was amazed at how well the buildings have been restored - or built well in the first place. I particularly noticed the men's bunkhouse that was repeated nearly board for board in the 1927 photo, the 1936 (flood) photo and again in the 2006 (flood) photo. Astonishing!

Loved the tour and you did the right thing taking the shuttle. When you have taken us places that people choose to live year round I can't help but imagine how cold, dark and dreary the winter must be. I'm sure they arrange their life for staying productive in the winter.
