Another Successful Camping Trip

Postby Cougarfan » Sun Aug 19, 2012 8:13 pm

I just returned from 3 nights at the Oregon Coast. I met Karen (Oregonluvr) over there and we had a great time. Unfortunately, I was on one end of the rv park and she was at the opposite end. Oh well, we made it work. Here are a few pictures. The weather was so nice compared to what it was here at my house. Was supposed to be 102 last Thursday (when I left town) and 100 on Friday. We had great weather at the coast. Mid-60's and very little wind. The pictures show the marine layer that moves onshore in the afternoon and keeps things nice and cool. It stays cloudy overnight and usually burns off by about noon each day. I didn't care. I was thrilled to not be sweltering in the heat at home.

We went down to the docks and got some fresh-caught Tuna. We put it on the bbq but it wasn't very good. Maybe we didn't cook it right or maybe Tuna just isn't that good LOL We ate some of it and tossed the rest. It was fun to go down to the docks so it wasn't a total waste of fuel LOL

Next trip for me will be the gtg at the end of September. I can't wait to see everyone!!!

:D now ya got your first gtg under your belt and there will be many more to come. I had a chance to have fresh tuna one time too,
and I thought the same thing, it wasn't very good, just not the same as what comes out of the can. Must be the way its processed
that makes tuna in the can so good.

It is very quiet here tonight for a couple of reasons. All the Prevost "Bus Nuts" group pulled out and so did Laura. Guess it was supposed to rain a bit here today but nobody told the weather that, as it is super clear, no clouds yet, blue sky, and a light wind. I miss my camping buddy. Watching a tug boat right now pull a big barge up to the upper docks, first one I have seen this trip.

Just had a lazy day. Reading my book, playing on the computer, watching a sappy chick flick on the TV. Tried to take a nap but that didn't happen. I am just not much of a napper, just as well, as I need to sleep tonite. I will be leaving here in the morning, not sure if I will just go home or spend another couple of nights camping along the way. The dog had a couple of good walks and we sat outside for a long time as it was so warm out so we just enjoyed the sunshine.

We are both excited about the GTG end of September. Chatted about how much fun it is going to be to meet some new people face to face, and to see the ones we have already met. I am just enjoying this summer camping to the max. Alas, I will have to go to work again this winter....so I can afford to take the summer off again next year.

Love to see the good short trips. Sometimes I think some people get intimidated by the full-timers and actually I think there's more of you who aren't. And I'm really glad the weather worked out for you, too. Can't wait to meet you both soon.

Red, fly up and join us! I agree with Beth, not so much about being intimidated by the full-timers, but that it's good to hear about successful weekend get togethers. I've been trying to justify buying my dream rig (whatever it is) before I retire in three years, and you two just gave me what I needed.

I live close enough to a bunch of Pacific Northwest sistahs that 3-day GTGs are possible if I don't totally antagonize all of them in Oregon. ;)
