Sunday, the end of the week!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday, the end of the week!

Postby Colliemom » Sun Aug 19, 2012 5:18 am

Hi everyone,

I'm up. Not exactly bright eyed and bushytailed, but awake and ready to head out the door for work in a little bit. Last day of work for me this week, tomorrow starts my "weekend". Really looking forward to it as I am booked on a half day cruise throught the Les Cheneaux Islands off the southeastern shore of Michigan's U.P. Should be fun cruising through that beautiful area and also (yes, Maggie) stopping to see some of the lighthouses in the area as well.

Been quiet at the park this week. We are starting to do other things that have not gotten done cause we've been taking care of the day to day operations for our guests. We do have camps in the park, but not like it was earlier this month. We are also starting to lose some of our staff as well, as college students start preparing to return to classes. I only have roughly 5 more weeks and i too will be finished for this season. Time for vacation, yah! :D

Boy, there's lots going on with some of our forum sisters. Downsizing, destuffing, traveling, making Labor Day camping plans, looking at and even getting new rigs and getting ready to follow their dreams and some even talking about FL this winter already. Busy, busy, busy. You can feel the energy flowing through the forum and although we are only using our fingers to communicate, it seems to galvanize others into motion.

Well, it's time I get into motion too. Need to throw lunch together and head out. Just w anted to say hi and wish all of you a wonderful day.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I hope you have a good day a work today so you can enjoy a fun filled weekend.

It's starting off cool here today. It's only 63 degrees and we'll get into the mid 80's. It looks like it'll be a clear day, so I think I may strip the linens off the bed and hang them outside to dry. Our plan is to finish working on the wood today. If I have any energy left after that, I would like to put up some more tomato sauce. By the looks of the tomatoes on the vines, we should be able to pick quite a few today.

This is the first weekend in the last month that I haven't had to spend with my parents. My mother fell several weeks and has a compression fracture of the spine and my father was in the hospital last weekend, but they're both feeling stronger. They've had their share of problems the last year.

For those on the road, be safe. And to all the others, have a terrific Sunday!

Good morning all! It's been raining steady since 2 am. Lightening, thunder, thunder, lightening!! It is so beautiful. Been up most of the night just watching the dramatic flashes light up the yard with booms vibrating the house.

good morning ladies
been up for hours, got stuff done, bath done and getting ready to get over to daughters house. Son can't go as he has an apt showing at noon and
not sure what time the new daddy is going to be there so moving the washer will happen on another weekend. But us ladies are getting the boxes
packed. Gotta go out and clean out my car to make room for cushions from the patio furniture she is pitching but cushions can be used on sons
patio furniture.
Catch ya all later this evening. Have a great day and hope you all have good weather.

Good Morning from Normal at last... my granddaughter Sekana came with me for a 2 week visit... it will be a fun week I hope... she loves to swim in the community pool... and play my Wii... and use all of her electronics... me I just want my coffee... my keurig quit working so had to get my small pot from Bright Hope... now can browse to my hearts content...

I did not go to church this morning as I over slept but I expected that...

I had a first experience for all of you boondockers out there... I got real tired coming home and could not find my usual kind of pull off spot... so I saw one that had a lot of discs for the fields and I pulled over... took Shadow out... lay down and within a half hour my granddaughter said 'Someone is writing down our license plate number and is on the phone!.'.... I had her hold Shadow as he is barking his head off... I went to the door and the man said I would have to move this is private property... I told him I was very tired and could not find an rv park... he said I don't know about rv parks but this is private property and you have to leave... I said give me 5 minutes and I will be gone...

I drove another 50 miles and found a friendly truck stop... went in and asked if I could park they said sure just out of the way of the trucks... and it was a cost of 0 so that was great... we ate dinner did our thing on the computer or read and went to bed...

Sue that sounds like a nice cruise along the shoreline... beautiful country up there... Irmi glad mom and dad are doing better... life sure is hard when we cannot do the things we want to... oh Red I have been in several storms and we just roll through it...

Have a great day everyone... I will be de stuffing Bright Hope...

That's a great cruise, Sue, to the "Snows", as the local pronounce it. I took it with my family about 30 years ago. Such beautiful islands and homes along the way--made me want a place like those isolated homes. Have you even been to the antique boat show they have in July or August in Hessel? It also is fascinating. A lot of those homes are accessible only by boat, so there were a lot of Chris-Crafts in that area in the 30s through 60s, and a couple of major boat dealers up that way. (They did some rum-running to Canada, also.) Enjoy!

I am still in my son's driveway. Am planning on leaving on Thursday morning for the rest of my Great Adventure. Hopefully, my steps will come in and I'll be able to get them installed and my door repaired on Thursday, so I can swing by there on my way south to Grand Canyon.

I still have grandchildren to take to school and a kindergartner to pick up on Monday through Wednesday of this coming week. They have made arrangements for Thursday and Friday, and then the other Grandma will be coming for next week. Once into September, there will be full-day kindergarten and their regular babysitter will step in.

So glad I am not a working parent with small children!!

Have called it a day for outside! Have been moving boxes and bins in, sorting as I go. Found my dishes! Getting ready to go to the grocery store and finally get some groceries. I will be cooking my first meal in my new home tonight. As tired as I am, it will be something simple but will be real food. Not a sandwich, scrambled eggs or a TV dinner!

OK ladies, you can all laugh at me!  I was only able to keep about half the clothes I had brought over here. You know what, it was just fine with me. I will have plenty of things to wear no matter the season. Since Mom will be using one of the closets, I just have one. After working in an office and having to be well dressed and stylish for so many years, it's very different to realize jeans and a tee will probably be what I wear most of the time. If not jeans, shorts. It's amazing that I have gone from 3 closets to 1 small one and am perfectly happy with it.

  I have also started loading my basement bins too. There's a whole lot of stuff that won't be going with me now too. Already gave my cutting table to my sister today. I figure she is laughing when she gets my texts asking her if she wants various things. They have a 5th wheel and she didn't say anything until yesterday about my unrealistic view of what I could take with me. I will be getting smaller bins too because they pack easier and are not as heavy individually. This is a definite education!

Everyone have a wonderful evening!

Red - did you get the rain yesterday afternoon/evening as well? We didn't really get that at home but we had gone to the cemetery where Mark's mom is buried to scatter some of his grandmother's ashes on her grave. Just after we got there (Rosewood in Humble), the bottom fell out. We kept thinking that it would blow on through - yeah, right. So we finally did what we came to do then went to have dinner at Texas Land and Cattle on 249 (which was the worst experience I have ever had at TLAC) and as we were headed home we were really watching the wall cloud because of the way it was starting to bulge - that can indicate possible rotation. We didn't really get any rain until 2 than at 4 it really put on a show. And yes, I was up both times.

My DH said our rain started about 4:00 this morning. It didn't wake me up but I heard the thunder about 6:00. We got about 2 inches. Looking at the radar it looks like it should be raining but it isn't right now. It should be East of us in a couple of hours. About the only good thing about the rain is it is 80 instead of upper 90's.

Dawn, depending on where I'm going sometimes I will bring a pair of black slacks and a nice blouse. If I need to be more dressed up than that I'm not going. I have a closet full of clothes at home and end up wearing the same things all the time.

Not much going on today. I really wanted to go get some ice cream but didn't. Thought about making a cake but managed to resist doing that too.

Dawn,
The only thing you might want to do - is have a bin in your storage area to change out depending on seasons. I didn't take enough cool weather clothes - and even in the desert in the winter, I need them. But lots of anything - nope, not needed. I have way too much now. Seems I'm always paring things back down. I have a 1 in, 1 out rule, so really don't know how this happens... hahaha
