Mt St Helens painting

Postby kdmac » Tue Aug 14, 2012 8:33 pm

I thought I would show my latest painting...I am finally back into painting after a very very long time away from it. I guess with the soaring gas prices in Washington I have decided to spend more time at camp than my favorite thing of driving everywhere to see everything.
I am currently in southwest Washington which I am familiar with certainly but haven't explored as much as the rest of the state that I know like the back of my hand. This is an area filled with old "westward Ho the Movement" history and many fine old homesteads. Most of the picturesque pastures and fields have long ago ben cleared by original pioneers who came west on the wagon trains. Certainly filled with Lewis and Clark history. And Mt St Helens is a major draw. I have been up to the mountain 33 times since it blew and I never get tired of it.
I went up to this ridge that I painted and you could see Mt St Helens, Mt Adams, Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson. I didn't take any photos while up there but painted it by memory..so it is not authentic to the actual snow field patterns on Mt St Helens but, oh well. I do realize this is an amateur looking painting but I have been out of practice for such a long time. If I manage some more finished paintings in the near future I will post them too. Sorry you guys you are the only audience I have.

Love it! Was that Windy Ridge? I remember the views from there. I loved both my visits to Mt. St. Helens and would go again.

...and please don't ever apologize for your creativity! Your gift of recreating the best of your memories is joyous. If you find yourself over here on the east side of the state, PM me. We'll have a mini GTG.

Wish I could do so well - I remember the feeling of desolation when I went to Mt. St. Helen's but that was from a lot closer in.

I love it! Please don't disparage your talent! I would most certainly hang it on my wall.

You have been missing way to much and have much to share. You really need to stop in more often. I think we all miss you and your posts.
