New to group. Keep the old or go new?

I have been RVing for many years starting with a tent trailer and moving to a Roadtrek and now a Airstream Land Yacht MH. I love my MH, but it is a 1996 and am wondering if I should invest in all new hoses etc. or sell and get something newer? I would like to retain my unit but worry about age of parts. Any comments would be appreciated.
I travel by myself with two dogs.

I thought I'd have replaced my rv by now (1999) but will keep it until it falls apart around me, I think. It's value keeps going down every year, so it pretty much will be worth the same in several years as now, at this point - depending on just how much it falls apart. The key is keeping the important stuff maintained. If you have, and it runs well - then it's hard to say what you should do. I sure can't make that decision for you- as I've struggled with my own. hahaha But I love mine - layout, etc, so it will be very hard to move on when the time comes. Good luck on that decision.

Thanks for the quick response. It is a hard decision, but I just don't want to get stuck on the road with my dogs and a broken down rig when it is 100+ degrees. I am considering switching to at TT if I sell; maybe a Keystone Vantage (they have come way down in price) or the new Winnebago One or Minnie. I do have a 2500 duramax diesel Sierra to tow with; it was my husbands (now a widow) and runs great. I do like being self-contained in the MH with room for the dogs to move when traveling plus the ability to start up the generator for air for the dogs when I stop to sightsee or go shopping.

I like the advantages for my dog of being in a C or A - but others love tt. You have to figure what's best for you. Last mh I saw being towed was a 2012, so don't think that only old ones will breakdown. That said, no matter what year I have, I will always have a roadside assistance plan. Now, if I get to the point where I'm nervous about the engine - then I'll probably have to get a new mh. I see many, many older mh's on the road up here in Alaska - running and looking good - most looking better than mine - again, though, the comfort level has to be one YOU are ok with. And I totally understand. Others will be weighing in on this, I'm sure - most must be out and about today.

How many miles are on it? Gas or diesel? There are older rigs out there still going strong.
I tow a trailer. If anything happens to it I still have my van for transport and camping while the tt gets fixed or replaced.

As someone else said, a lot depends on the mileage and how well it's been serviced and maintained. Those are the important questions. And as far as trailers, I like pulling mine but then again my truck is my daily driver.

Thanks again to all. I think I am going to love this group; so glad I found you. For those of you with older (in the 90's or older) what have you had to replace? So far I have replaced no MH parts just engine: new heating cooling system and new computer. Other than tires and batteries that is all the repairs I have had. Just thinking with the age and the fact that the hoses are what blew on the engine heating and cooling I should have all hoses and belts replaced. Pam

Pam, once a year I take my rig to a Ford dealer and ask them to look at everything. This past year was my most expensive single visit- but that's because I did all new brakes, tires, a new battery and regular maintenance (oil change, etc). As long as I do that (which I would do with a new rig also, I feel pretty comfortable. It doesn't mean something else can't happen, but they check my belts, etc etc. I've never needed a new engine! Hopefully have at least 75K or more left on this one! I have had to change things in the rig - fridge, for example. And my generator was a POS from the beginning, and always an expense - replaced it with solar this past winter. If I decide I need a generator again with this rig, will get a portable Honda. I also replaced my microwave, but it was still working - I just wanted a micro-convection.
