Sorry to hear about your "bite" problems and hope you are Lyme free. Ten years ago I had a tick bite and Lyme disease was all over the news, so I went to my dr and had to fight with him over the shot since I had no symptoms. Won the battle and promptly found a new dr. About 2or3 months ago I noticed what I thought was a minute scab on my inner thigh. I used my fingernail to try and remove it when I saw these itty bitty legs kicking about. Grabbed tweezers and burned that d-- : thing. Did I go to a dr this time? Noooo. And did it go away. Well, mostly. Now I'm thinking I should get checked. We'll see. carold

ladies, I've read that if you find a tick on yourself it's best to 1) remove it (of course), 2) put that little bloodsucker in a zip lock bag (seal tightly) and 3) seek medical attention and bring the tick with you. The deer tick is the one that carries lyme disease and they should be able to identify the species of tick. At best you'll have peace of mind if it's 'just a tick', at worse you'll have to receive medical attention. One of the drawbacks of loving the outdoors!

In 38 years I have only found one tick on the dog. Don't know why we don't have ticks here. I know they are in central Louisiana. Don't think I have heard anything about Lyme disease in Louisiana either. We have West Nile from the mosquitoes. With all this rain they are finding more cases this year.

Lyme's Disease is nothing to fool around with. The consequences can be very serious if not treated promptly. I am lucky that mine was diagnosed early and treated with intravenous antibiotics. My follow up blood test was normal and I got the go ahead from the DR to leave for FL. He expects a full recovery but I am still on antibiotics for another two weeks.

My daughter arrives Thursday evening, we leave Friday morning and will take Rt. 81 and detour onto the Blue Ridge Pkwy somewhere. I will be planning our route this week.

I feel great. Thank you for all the well wishes. Stay healthy ladies!!
