Damp Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Damp Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:06 am

Good Morning everyone,

A damp rainy morning here at the 45th. Welcome rain although we have had enough of it this summer to keep things growing and greened up. The corn farmers are happy as so far so good and looks like a great yield year for them this year.

This will mean a quiet day at work too and a good day to work inside the buildings doing some dewebbing and so forth. The park has really slowed down this week. We are only a bit over half full right now (91 out of 1153 sites) but will fill up for the weekend. That time of year. School sport practices have started and some sports have games as early as next week and football season starts for most high schools on the 24th. So that taks away a lot of families from camping already.

Been a busy week for me outside work. Between taking Tessa to vet, shopping, prepping and painting deck, hopping on lawn tractor and pickking up debris piles from last weeks shrub trimming, cutting my grass, my next door neighbors and the one across the road, my two days off just flew. For example, Tuesday: go to breakfast at Bob Evans cause out of breakfast stuff at home, head to three different stores to do grocery shopping and restock fridge etc., head out to vet to make appt. that I forgot to do the day before, come home. Unpack groceries and put away, hop on lawn tractor and pick up debris piles, stop for lunch, hop back on mower and cut my grass and neighbors front (2 hours), stop, put second and final coat of paint on deck, back on mower to finish my grass and then mow neighbors yard across road (small lot), by then it's dinner time. Made quick trip down to Waters and got ice cream as I figured I owed one to myself after all that. Took Sassy for walk and picked up papers and mail for other neighbor whose place I caretake, and put them inside, come home and get on this machine for a short before heading to bath and bed. End of day  Then yesterday it was off to the real world of work. Next week I am declaring a "play day". But since all this work is done, I won't have to do it again for awhile, the deck not till next year.

For those of you who are wondering from my past posts, my dog Tessa has a severe bladder infection that is just not clearing up despite 4 different antibiotics so far. I've taken her into the vets for what seems like forever this past month and we are now on the 5th antibiotic. The last one got her sick to where she wasn't eating and dragging on our walks etc., so vet said to stop it. He didn't want to use it to start with but he's running out of options at his pharmacy. I was told to keep her off all meds for 48 hours and then start this new stuff. She certainly perked up once she was off that other stuff and seems to be doing fairly well since. Back to eating when she wants, but did have an accident in her bed on Tuesday night. So I don't know for sure what's going to happen here. There is one more med we can try which has to be compounded from a regular pharmacy and is really expensive. Plus I found a bump on her rib cage that the vet thinks might be a growth. So....... Will just have to take it a day at a time and see what happens. Next week she goes back for a urinalysis again to see if there are any results. If not, we stop all meds for 7-10 days and go from there. Doggie baths coming up next Monday on my day off first.

On the brighter side, 7 more weeks to work and then that's it for this season. Really looking forward to heading to my hideout in the U.P. for a week or so. I will not go back to the park for the Halloweenfest this year as it falls on the first weekend in Oct. and I'm not short circuiting my vacation for that. Burned out of it anyway.

Been reading and trying to catch up on the different rooms in this forum. See everybody's doing their thing. Dawn, hope all goes well and you can close and be done with the place, get your MH and hit the road with you mom. CArol, sorry about the gen. Hope you can get it fixed. Hey, you have been saying you want to come to MI, well get up here, there's a gen repair place here in Gaylord  Hope your tests turn out okay. BarbZee, sure have been enjoying your morning posts. For all I know you might beat me on before I finish this. Barbie sounds like she is contented back in MN and enjoying her work again. Lori and ernie are enjoying WY, have yet to see the pictures, will get to it. The AK bunch are starting to wander home slowly. What a trip to remember. Gonna be hard to top that. A few small GTG's out there too. Busy, busy, busy. Wendy, I"m waiting for you to head up here one of these days.

Well, more stuff to do before heading off to work this morning, so will wish you all a great day and talk to you later.

Sue's post makes me miss the 45th - that plus I've been going through my vacation photos.

Got the newsletter from the Dutch Oven group I joined the first of the year and haven't been able to attend a single DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering) since. Makes me want to go camping and cook beside the campfire - except it is too doggone hot for a campfire this time of year.

Well, I have to go get ready for an all-morning meeting - fun, fun, fun - NOT! Oh, and there are strawberry pop-tarts for breakfast - the cupboard is running bare here as well.

Oh darn - now I have the hiccups - it's going to be a miserable meeting.

Morning All. I am up and at em early this morning. Already have a load of laundry in and the dishwasher going. I am trying to get motivated early as it has been pretty warm here, and when I get hot I just plain ole run outta gas. Our heat is nothing like the rest of the nation but it wears me out none the less.

Grocery shopping is also on my agenda this am. I like to go in the morning before all the peeps get out but lately everyone has the same idea.

Had to go to the car wash yesterday as my car was filthy. Towing it sure does a number on it even when it is not raining. Covered with dust and when I was camping it sprinkled just a bit so then the dust settled in every single raindrop!!!! Decided I would use the vacuum also while I was there, so I am now all spiffed for next weeks camping trip. I was smart and cleaned the Motorhome while I was camping and had access to AC and electric. I could actually see out of the window when I was done. Of course the outside acquired quite a few bugs on the way home but it was really the inside that needed cleaning, so that chore is done for a while. OK second cup of coffee kicking in so I am off to the shower and grocery shopping.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Sue, your day sounds a lot like my days here at the family compound! There is so rarely a time to just sit back and loll as I did one day this week in my pool. Everywhere I look there is something to be done. I am getting really excited now with the upcoming Ruckus scheduled for Sunday. I sure do hope Tessa improves for another few good years, as you have taken such good care of her and I can only imagine how stressed you are over her constant bladder problems. I will be sending some healing powers her way.

Got my new Samsung clothes washer last night (YES---a Lowes night delivery!) and what a machine that is! I swear it's nothing but a computer with a monster stainless steel drum attached, and not even an agitator in there any more! I will put a load of clothes in as soon as I get off here and let you all know if it works as well and as impressively as it looks!

Time is speeding by, and I need to get moving, so hope to get caught up again later. I hope everyone has a fun day, and, if anyone can do it, please slow down the passage of minutes??!!!!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning Sue, Maggie, Karen and Soos and all that will eventually get in and post or peek :D

Morning again for me was busy..but I got up at 3am and again pulled the Tossin' and a Turnin'..(yep sing out all) and then finally went into the kitchen and made some blueberry muffins..cause my big jar was empty !!!! Put on my pot of coffee and let the aroma move me...hahaha

Then when hubby got up.. and out the door I got in the van and went up to the Grocery Store..which by the way I hate to do.. I'm getting worse cause I can never find what I want or they are out of it..or nothing looks good...I'm in that kind of MODE...OH BOY ;)

So now I've got things to make for the next couple of days and Dinner tonight is gonna be a Roast Chicken and Veggies that I do in my Cast Iron Skillet... I cut out the back bone of the chicken and put that away for when I made broth and flatten the chicken so I can brown it first then shove everything in the oven...Over and Out !!!... a one pot meal works great for me...and I have some fruit so I'll make a fruit salad..that's it..nothing special..

Sue (Colliemom) Just reading your morning..I'm leaning back and wondering can I make it through that .. Wow woman you is sure been busy...and sorry to read about your Tessa...you know my Reba now wears diapers..she had a slight bladder infection and got through that but now really doesn't have that control when sleeping ..so I did not want to put her on anything more and let her live out her life peacefully.. and I buy doggie diapers..they work great and she even loves when I put them on her with her jeans hahaha...

Maggie.. hiccups and all.. I always got bored with all the meetings I had to attend when I worked (early years) for Pepsico...couldn't wait for them to be over....Hey ya ever try them Pastry Strudels...better then them pop tarts..I got that info from Ms Dawn....she was right on ....Apple and Cherry are my favorites..:)

Karen (Oregonlur) You is sure ambitious..Hey did you ever wipe your windshield with those Dryer towels. (fabric softner)...I did and when you go and clean your windows to get rid of bugs it comes off really easy....we did a topic on that a long time ago... and as far as the Grocery Shopping...oh I don't like that job...good luck on that one !

Soos (Nasoosie)...hahaha.. You and that Washing machine.. I hear ya.. another brand I won't look at hahaha..but I'm running out of brands..and for me I have to have a small one as my space size keeps me with only certain brands...gotta love them big steel drums...what's with that.....hahaha...

Well now I'm getting a nudge it's the big guy Zeke wanting to go out... So I need to get them critters out and on with the next chain of events...Lord only knows...

All take care and Safe Travels to All...

God's Blessings Shine Down On All

Good morning all my friends! Sue and Soos you two just wear me out! Here's my day yesterday! Have coffee and watch news, catch up all you on computer, get shower, go look around in Sams and Kohl's and library, read, float in pool. Oh, I did my workout on Wi in there somewhere. I may go see Hope Springs (new movie with Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep tonight. Soos, my neighbor got that same washing machine I think. I asked if she was getting ready to wash clothes or fly it to the moon! Everyone have fun and be safe today. Wendy

Morning everyone.

So sorry to read about Tessa. It is so hard when something is wrong with one of fur babies. I know she is getting a whole lot of TLC and that's the best medicine.

Today should be the day! Youngest DD signed paperwork yesterday and then sent message to oldest DD "Thank Goodness, I just saved my house". I hope when the dust settles, she realizes what damage she has done to this family. I am waiting for my phone call with the time I will be closing. As soon as funds are in my account, I can wire funds to MHSRV and schedule the pickup of my MH. Since I don't want to get hot and sweaty before the closing, mostly just sitting this morning. Going to get a load of laundry done. I am going to miss my LG high efficiency washer and dryer. They have been wonderful since we bought them a few years ago. I would certainly recommend LG for those looking for a new washer or dryer. Middle DD is certainly looking forward to them being at her house come Saturday. Will be calling to make our CG reservations for the month of February up by BarbZ. I am laughing about the trouble we can get in being in the same town, when we can get in trouble with her in FL and me in TX.  I beat her to Walmart and had my iPad2 before she did that day. Nanananabooboo. Better start saving up a bail fund

Everyone have a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe!

Good morning all, I've been up since 6 trying to get caught up. Unpacking, laundry, stacks of mail. I couldn't wait to get home to my own bed and my fur baby. But now I wanna go again. But not air travel. I look forward to being a turtle. I know the same stuff needs to be done, but the call of a new place and new people will keep it from being so tedious. I hope :o

The air conditioning repair man is here. When we got home the fan was running constantly and it was hot in the house. The circuit board fried while we were gone and the A/C AND heater were running simultaneously. According to the power usage, that was going on for a week before we got home.

Soos, I have the Samsung front loader and I love it. More clean with less water and soap...use the Energy Efficient soap :D only had it 3 yrs now, but so far, really good.

I will make a Costco trip today for paper products, supplies, etc. a tank of gas and then to the 1/2 price box store to get the boxes to pack up my china and crystal to ship to daughter :D

Can't believe the kids are back in school here. These kids are out for marching band practice for 4 hrs a day in 100 + heat. That is cruel  ( BTW, AVA the kids here must be good, cuz those buses are really slow  )

Everyone try to stay cool and for those traveling...stay safe. Aloha

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

OK! Had all kinds of plans for getting stuff done but after reading about Sue and Soos? I am officially worn out and my day is shot in the butt AND I haven't even started yet!

Working on my second cup of coffee here and Kelly's cleaning bathrooms. I will be taking her to the WalMart job sometime around 1:30pm. Gonna get as much stuff as I can moved over to the new trailer today. Have been putting that off cause of not having any A/C in the new one. This old one might be a 'sitting' pile of junk baut the the window A/C unit will freeze ya out. I just can't deal with the heat that builds up in the trailers and I sure didn't want to subject Shade to the heat either. But today with A/C working in the new trailer, the push to move everything over begins. Gonna be rough tho cause most everything I move is gonna have to be done one handed. Gonna wear out my left hand and arm. :?

Soos I sure have you and Tessa in my prayers so that the bladder problem gets taken care of.

Sue be sure and let us all know how the new washer works out. I am so partial to Whirlpool!!! I hate Maytag and that's all you ever find in the laundromats

Dawn I and everyone else will be on pins and needles just waiting for the word from you that everything is a done deal!! And that you have got your MH!!!

OK, off to read and catch up. Be safe everyone and have lots of fun with whatever it is that your doing!!!

Love to all

Good morning from Anchorage! Of course it might be afternoon where you are. I'm sitting in an RV dealership waiting for service to be done on my RV. Thn I'll head back to the State Park we stayed in last week and do some Geocaching this afternoon.

Maggie, I hope your hiccups went away before your meeting. Of course they would have been a good reason to excuse yourself from it for awhile, lol.

Dawn, I'm looking forward to the good news on the closing, and pictures of your new RV.

All you other busy people remind me of things I could or should be doing, cleaning, fixing, etc. Or, not....

Hope the rest of your day today is full of fun!

My DH is mowing the grass with his BIG A$$ mower. It's really a Big Dog but it has a 60" deck. I think it's an over kill for a yard. Of course, the first day he was mowing the horse pasture. He has already scraped one of the orange trees and I had to get some spray to cover the damage. I'm afraid my blueberry bushes days are numbered. There is rain all around us and I can hear thunder. Maybe it will run him inside.

My friend had to bring someone from work to the air port yesterday so she called me and we went shopping. Ate lunch at a new restaurant that was kind of like a sports bar. Kind of noisy but the food was good. I hadn't been down that street in a while and there were 2 new restaurants that were built and open and I had never seen them. They can sure come up with those things in a hurry.

I wasn't really looking for anything but found a pair of shorter capri jeans on sale. Most capris are long on me, probably because I'm short. Brought some pictures to my son to put in the package going to my grandson. I don't know if his mother let him pack but he had a coat, 2 jackets, all long sleeve shirts, long pants and a few shorts. We bought him some short sets and he had a birthday while he was here so had more toys. Rather than pay the baggage fee to fly it home my son is sending it UPS. I had sent GS a picture of his favorite cat a couple of years ago and he is still carrying it around. I found a 3 section picture frame and put some pictures from his visit.

I'm glad they are making washers with steel drums rather than the plastic ones. Wendy, I think my set is one of the fly to the moon ones.  I still don't know how to change some of the settings. It might help if I would read the instructions. The dryer has a steam refresh cycle that I didn't think I would use but have a few times. I wouldn't say it would take the place of ironing but good enough for me. Has anyone used the little sheets that have the soap and fabric softener in them. You just drop one in the wash. I thought they would be good for the camper and I like them.

Zee, I saw a recipe that sounds like your chicken using Cornish hens. Was going to pick some up yesterday but forgot. I use to eat the sausage and egg toaster strudels when I worked. I was looking for some sausage biscuits and bought some of the Walmart brand. Talk about tasteless. I don't like the Jimmy Dean with the egg and cheese but think next time I will buy them and just throw the egg and cheese away. At least they taste like sausage.

Yesterday one of the small stores past where we live was robbed. I don't remember that ever happening before. The highway dead ends at the intracoastal canal. Unless you are a local that know the side roads there are only 2 ways to get away. It was 2 men, a woman and 2 kids from Mississippi. Real Einsteins, they caught them before they got to town. At least they didn't hurt anyone.

The hiccups went away and the pop-tarts came out of the vending machine at work. I really need to just bite the bullet and go to the grocery store. Why do I hate it so?

Hi ladies!

It's way past morning on the east coast, but I've been busy today. The trees are down in our yard and now we have stacks of large pieces of wood that need to be split and stacked. My dear BIL brought his wood splitter this morning for us to use, which will be a tremendous help. Hubby has a monster maul, but in this heat, I don't want him trying to over do. He split some today and I stacked, but we have a long way to go.

A couple days ago, I put up my first batch of spaghetti sauce from my tomatoes and was hoping to put up another batch this afternoon, but I ran out of garlic. Lots of that will be on my grocery list for tomorrow, as I plan on putting up lots of sauce for our freezer. Then in the fall, I will put up kale. I know most people don't care for that, but we do. I grew up with kale and just love the stuff, cooked up with a ham bone and add kielbasa for additonal meat.

We have a weather system coming into the area tomorrow which could bring much needed rain. Yay!

Martha, I used to use those washer/dryer sheets. They are so easy to use! But I can't find them anymore :( If you know who might still sell them, let me know.

Barbie, I looked at Walmart today for the Purex 3 in 1 Laundry sheets and they had 5 boxes. I hadn't seen any for a while but I wasn't really looking for any. The first time I bought them they came in a plastic box dispenser. The second time I bought some I found a refill package. The ones they had today looked like just a cardboard box dispenser.
