Valdez Days

Nan and I are currently moving through beautiful Yukon and in and out of WIFI possibilities or at least ones that will allow uploading pictures and posts. The land still takes out breath away at most every turn and I find myself channeling Mitch.....as in "Oh, Wow...." You are here in spirit, woman. I know that your heart would love some of the vista that we have passed through these past few days..... It made the rough spots in the road slip away from memory in comparison to chance to see the mountains and valleys.

I told myself I'd get caught up on my blog today. Ha - instead I'm so enjoying yours. Fun to see the tour from someone else's eyes.

I saw a black bear in the other area on Dayville Rd near where the Bear sign is now. It seems momma grizzly and her cubs aren't finding the need to cross the road so much now - I guess they have enough food on the other side, to not need to have people disturb her. The black bear is on the other side - in a little inlet - and 3 of us stopped in our vehicles to watch. All was good until several others finally realized we were seeing something, and came over and out of their cars. Mr/Mrs black bear didn't like that and disappeared into the green.

Can't wait for your take on the Top of the World Highway - as well as Nan's and Sharon's. I'm contemplating going back that way next month - so will be looking forward to your postings on that. And on Dawson City and the Yukon, and Haines if you go there, etc etc etc lol

Great pictures. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I wish I could go out on Lu Lu Belle too!

Great narrative and pictures. I know I would have been nervous about the caves and the ice closing back up behind you. What a mental image!

Very interesting account, Tina, and I love your pictures. The info about the bear intestine rain gear was fascinating. Those people basically had breathable water-proof stuff long before that company came out with their version of it.

Beth at the helm is amazing! I would so love to have the chance to go for a LuLu Belle trip----maybe some day.

Thanks so much for the commentary!

Thank you for another spectacular tour, Tina. I had to back track to catch up on a couple of older posts; up to date now.
It is so wonderful that Beth was able to get job there during the summer so many forum members were traveling in Alaska.
Been great keeping up with all of you.
Now off to find out what Liz and Birdie may have gotten into lately..

WONDERFUL post Tina thank you. I too am impressed with Beth's navigation skills! How great it is that she is there for the summer and has no time to get lonely as so many friends have stopped to visit.
