Campfire

I could use a nice fire about now. It was 20* last night and they are predicting 10* for tonight. Much too cold for this part of the world!

ahhh, nice and warm here by the fire, it was cold and rainy today, and soon as I
got home I did up a cup of cocoa and now I'm on my second one. You poor folks
up there where the temps are in the negative, oh boy, I feel thankful for my 41
degree's, even though I'm cold. Cranked up the furnace to 80 until I got warmed
throughout my bones, now its back down to a level 72. Only 4 days to go until
I'm off for winter break, but I still call it Christmas break.
Stirring the fire a little and I'm off to read up on the forum and since there is
not much on tv on Monday nights I'll do a puzzle on my computer for relaxation.
I downloaded a program to do the puzzles and use any picture I want. I do enjoy
doing the puzzles, and the best part is I don't have to fret about what to do with
it when I'm done.
Oh yea, Survivor, I've been a fan too for the last few seasons, one of my co-workers
got my addicted to that show. Was so glad to see Bob win it and he also won the
audience win too so he got the extra money. Randy was a jerk from the very beginning
and still a jerk at the reunion. What a loser.

Its 34 degrees here and wind is blowing. Even with a BIG fire I'm gonna hit the bed and invite my furbabies under the covers to keep me warm. Here's some hot chocolate for all the ones who are braving the outside. Nite all.

TA DAH! Here me is!! With my coffee and Baileys in hand. Ahhhhhhhh Now I can semi collapse.

Kelly and I left work at 5pm tonight. I have been so exhausted all freaking day. I lost track how many times different ones at work had to wake me up today. Even one of the big floor supervisors took a turn. When she asked me what was up? I told her I was so exhausted that I felt drunk. I think I scared her. She stood there looking at me, I think she was gonna say something, then I got a call. But she went to tell my sup to keep an eye on me just in case? I let my sup know at 5pm that I was cutting out. She told me no problem that it was 5pm and that I could go! Could have knocked me over with feather!!! That's when she told me what the floor sup had said. I'm for bed early tonight I want some sleep!!! And I just bet instead of dozing off here at the table again tomorrow morning I will stay awake and get my shower. I am so hoping that come January that they will ease up on all the dang overtime.

Reading about all the low temps makes me feel guilty. I stood out on the back porch this morning during the morning ritual barefoot. It was 58 for me this morning. Whole lot better than the 16? 18? of yesterday morning. The rain held off all day until right at 5 when I walked out of work. So while the temp outside isn't bad at all it is raining, so it is damp and adds a little chill. Temp is now 50 out there.

HA! I'm the one that is so tired and Kelly is the one snoring on the couch. But that's ok cause I'll be sawing wood in a little while. Bet ya I'll saw enough to supply the campfire for a few day.

Only have a few things left to pick up for Christmas and we will be all done except for the wrapping. I need to get down cellar to see what I have in the way of boxes. I have a couple of things that I have got to have boxes for. Now the cooler I bought for David?? I have no idea what the heck to do with that!!! I'll just have to figure out something tho. I don't dare post what I got Kelly just in case she comes cruising thru. Ya never know about her. I did get one thing for her that she's been talking about. It will shock the pickles out of her when she opens it! I can't wait to see the look on her face. It's nothing big, fancy or expensive but she's been wanting it. It has been a brain strain trying to figure out what to get the kids this year. Especially as none of us want to spend a wad. There's only 2 things I have been wanting and that is a Coleman Road Trip Grill and a small table top stereo with at least a 3 disc changer. The one I had is shot. The only thing that still works is the AM/FM radio. ~sigh~ But I'm sure not asking the kids to buy them. Will get them somewhere down the road.

Ok all, I am off to bed in about 15 minutes. I wanted to go to bed earlier but didn't dare to. If I had I know dang well that my internal clock would wake me up way to early. And then I would really be goofed up.

had a feeling the fire was burning low so came in to check on it!!!
and it was almost out so tossed a couple of logs on it. That should keep it going for a few ours. Its so rainy out that can stay at the fire long hope the rain doesn't put it out...They tell us we are in the desert but today you can't convince me. Going to enjoy a cup of hot choc later

Lordy I don't know who hates being cooped up inside....me or the cats with this non stop rain for two days!! Had to deflate the infatables and stash them in the casita. Don't want the rain to ruin the motors on them.

Aaaah the fire is building back up again....feels good!

I was beginning to feel like I was back in Seattle although I hear it is snowing in WA.

I threw (strategically placed) some more wood on the fire. Can't stay too long. Daughter is coming in tomorrow night from Charlotte NC with her significant other and I need to be sure that the house is at least clean....enough..... House cleaning has never been one of my top interests or hobbies. Haven't put any Christmas decorations up, other than the ones that the dogs wear when they visit the health care facility! For the last several years, I have just reminded everyone where they can find the tree (already even has the lights on it!) and the decorations....no one seem motivated to take them out and I know from too many years experience that no one is motivated to put them away. The dogs and I can find festive cheer and decorations when we go visit......Right now I am enjoying the warm fire and the hot choc. At least with the cold, the mud in the back yard stays frozen. With 4 x4 puppy feet each, scampering in the door it helps keep the trail clear .
I will try to bank up some coals so that with just a little attention this baby will keep. I will leave my chair over to the side, feel free to borrow it and keep it warm for me.

Tina and the furry ones who don't help with the cleaning. (Dog hair, who says we have dog hair....? We blame all the fuzz on the two cats....)

Just a quick stop by. I have got to get my but into bed!!!

Got home and tore my room apart looking for the Oil of Olay stuff I bought for the girl at work. Could not find it any where. Kelly looked in her room, it's not in the living room or kitchen. Called David to see if he had come across it when he cleaned up the living room and kitchen? Nope he hadn't seen it either. So I guess that means I left it at WalMart on the bag turnstile. So someone was pleasantly surprised when they got home and found some extra goodies. Any way I had to throw together a batch of baked beans and into the oven for tomorrow at work then run up to WalMart and rebuy the stuff for the secret santa deal. That's twice it has happened to me in the past few weeks. First was my box of garbage bags that didn't make it out of the store with me. ~sigh~

Any way got home pulled the beans out, put some soup in the microwave and made a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and that was my supper. Now to set up my little coffee pot and set the time for in the morning and I'm a gonner. As in gone to sleepy land.

The nice thing about coming to check on the fire - You really don't have to have any exciting reason or interesting story. It is just nice to be still for just a minute and watch the flame and catch a sniff. That was some cedar wood I put on. With all the snow in the mid west and northeast we have better keep the flames going. It needs to be warm somewhere! We can't all go to Texas this very minute but It is looking better and better.....

Tina and the furry ones who are refusing to move off the warm couch.......who took my blanket....

Boy, sure did work up a thirst.....so we'll take a couple of them nicely chilled beers off the wall....warm up a little here by the fire...then it's off to bed for us....

I had to restart the fire this morning...there had been just too much snow and the bottom had dropped out of the temps. But most of you already noticed that, right. Even the Texas folks seem to be experiencing some windy, chilly conditions. I brought an extra tarp or two that I don't use often, so that we can build a wind break around a couple sides of the fire. This should help some, we can stay out of the wind and actually feel some of the heat. There it is. I made it so that we can move it around and re-stake it as the weather and the winds change. Hopefully we can enjoy the fire and those cups of "special" coffee a little more this way.

If I am not here, I am checking on my daughter and her significant other. They had chosen to stay in the "Guest House"....I warned them that the electric heater may not be enough to keep the MH warm even with down comforters and blankets. But I understand why they have been staying there. It is the same reason I like to camp in friends driveways and politely decline their guest rooms. Have to admit, I always accept use of their wonderful, clean, hot water showers.......

Hey Tina, thanks for the tarp, that really is nice, hadn't thought about blocking the wind, maybe it will help keep the smoke going in a direction where we can stay out of it too. Sounds to me like you have kept quite a few campfires going, you've been very helpful here with good ideas. I'm not much help, but I am learning here, thought this was just a fun place to be, but its also a learning experience for people such as me. Its just so cold, sure haven't been many here lately. Maybe they're all shopping and really having great fun in those malls Well, think I'm ready to go back in, that wind is more then I want to be in for to long.

I am sure glad you gals are keeping the campfire going. I am in Illinois for Christmas. I went to Decatur to have Christmas with an old friend. The high was about 4 degrees with 40 mph wind gusts and a wind chill of 15-25!!! I need something to warm me up!! I am still chilled to the bone. Thanks for all the wood. We are gonna need it to keep a campfire going this kind of weather!! I'm pumpkin cake and peanut butter fudge my younger brother just brought in and added to all the other goodies. I'm headed to sample it and grab a cup of hot chocolate!!
