I've been on the road for a week, so haven't had much of a chance to post. Right now I'm in the parking lot of a Pilot somewhere near Casa Grande, AZ. One more day and I'll be back in San Diego for a month-Christmas with my mom, etc.
It's been a fun trip back, beginning with seeing Lou for a couple of days in Tulsa, then driving down to Mineral Wells, Texas for a day with my good friend Fran from Kanab last year. One of my workamping friends from Coffeyville arranged for me to stay with her dad and his wife in Hobbs, NM where I saw the biggest darn Barbie doll collection I've ever seen. Didn't even know they MADE that many Barbies. Turned out her daughter has even more! After an interesting trip from Hobbs to Las Cruces, dipping down into Texas again, I finally paid for a night in an RV park in order to do some laundry. Passport America came through on that one. Last night I stayed with my friend's son and DIL in their brand new house in Tucson--they just moved in during November. Turned out I could have done laundry there, but no problem. Very nice young couple, both in the Air Force. They made homemade pizza for dinner last night and we talked a long time. They offered me some coffee mugs as well as an almost brand-new set of pots and pans because they were extras. So, that was a really nice Christmas present for my own present, the house in Oklahoma.
Off in a few minutes to boondock overnight with another friend somewhere in Yuma--need to look up the directions. Then the last leg of this trip tomorrow, into Lakeside, CA.
Oh, BTW, if anyone posts or reads the Workamper News forums, I had lunch yesterday in Benson, AZ with junglejim and his wife, Pnut. Very cool people - lots of fun. So, this trip has been one of meeting and spending lots of time with both old and new friends. And driving this RV without pulling the pickup is so much fun--I can maneuver it almost anywhere. And the price of gas makes it even more fun.
