Need road info

Postby Lynn2 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 4:12 pm

Ok, need help. I'm working to juggle my work to make the GTG in Grants Pass in Sept. Thrilled one is sort of near me. My problem is the most direct route from Baker City is to go thru John Day, Prineville, Bend, North Crater Lake, Diamond Lake Jct, then south to Grants Pass. I have driven this road in a car and know parts are steep and 40 miles or so are narrow and very curvy. I'm panicky about pulling the rv over this way but around thru Portland (freeway all the way) is WAY longer. Has anyone traveled on this route? Any information would really help.

It takes me a good 8-9 hrs in my car if stops are brief so would probably take two days with RV I thought. Bend is about half way so could stop there for a break then about 200+ miles the next day.

Ideas welcome!
Thanks

I think I responded in the other thread but here goes. I have driven that route and it isnt that bad. I just go slow where I need to and let people pass when there is an adequate turnout. I drive a 35ft Motorhome and tow a car....its a gasser so sometimes it is slow going uphill but then there is usually a passing lane. I can ignore those people behind me very easily now. I drive my own comfort speed but I do get over when possible. I think you would be fine. I live in the Ashland/Medford area.

We all started somewhere :) Just didn't want you to lose replies. Never be afraid to ask...
