Halfway through July Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Halfway through July Sunday

Postby avalen » Sun Jul 15, 2012 8:34 am

Good morning ladies
Coffee is fresh, grab a cup and take a seat. Lots of rain lately, several downpours yesterday and its still partly
cloudy this morning but the sun is trying to peak through. Thats gonna make it really humid. One thing I notice
with humidity is that my skin really itches when its humid. Don't know why. Gotta clean my room today, empty
trash and put the sewing machine away. Thats all I'm doing in the line of chores. I'll sit with my crochet in front
of a good movie. Ya'll have a great day.

What a fantastic sounding day, Ava.

Have not gotten anything packed for the last couple of days. Finally slept soundly last night and feel like I have a new lease on life. Not going to be lurking about here much today as I am going to be really taking apart my sewing room and putting into bins for the storage bins on MH. Will be an all day job, I am sure.

Everyone have a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe!

That sounds like a very good idea Ava, after I get out and pick green beans and hopefully have enough to 'put up', and the onions need to be 'socked' -they've been drying in the sun for a few days now. July is a very heavy garden work time for us so no camping (sigh), but we're looking forward to the RVW rally at Crater Lake in August then Charleston (on the coast) in september. The Admiral is getting antsy just sitting in the driveway, she wants to roll!

My passion, one of them anyway, is crochet and I sell on etsy sometimes. I'm currently working on a set of matching filet crochet valances for a lady in Norway. (reminder to self, check store soon). What are you making? I love working with crochet thread, unfortunately the market for intricate doilies is past but I'm finding people who want valances. They are unique and pretty. Have a great sunday everyone.

Aloha Kakahiaka Y'all (good morning in Hawaiian & Texan)

We are drying out fast. Lots of sunshine and very steamy!! HUMID :( Hundreds of mushrooms that grew to 14" just popped up from no where and now are looking like wilted flying saucers.

I've been up for awhile, but no coffee yet. One of those blue funk mornings, I guess. I love to crochet, but arthritis in my right thumb keeps me from doing too much other than computer these days. A nice movie sounds about right. But I have to choose which one. That is a bigger task than I want to tackle. Maybe back to bed

Everyone stay safe and have a wonderful day.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Good grief everything is soggy around here. If it's not soggy it's DAMP! I have had enough of the rain and it really needs to back off some. ~sigh~ At work yesterday I was all set to run away and go upstairs to take an extra break for a few minutes. My hand was on the slider lock of the double doors in the back of the restaurant and got called back to the buffet bar. The skies had opened up and the boss lady said that there were a whole bunch of people coming in. So had to go back in on the line for about 30min. When it got a little quiet and all the pans replenished I finally did sneak out for my break. Today I am in the dish hole and I work from 1pm to close. Tomorrow I open with the one cook at 7am. Had to tell Kelly she will need to ride the bus home tonight. Next week I work the line 2 nights in a row and then I'm in the dish hole 2 nights in a row. For the life of me I forget where I'm working on Monday the 23. I know I will be closing but not which job I will be doing.

Think I will stick my head in the sink and wash my hair. Kelly is up cleaning the bathrooms so I can't go up and take a shower so the head wash will have to do. It was freaking hot at work yesterday and my head sweated something wicked. Well the rest of me sweated but my hair feels cruddy. I will also wash up the rest of me and for sure smear on some extra deodorant for today!

OK. off to read and catch up. Hope everyone has a great day, keeps cool, warm or whatever it is along as you do it safely! If your on the road drive extra carefully and pay attention!

Love to all

Red, I have a set of crochet hooks that came with 2 different 'handles'. You screw on the tip size you need from "F" to "K". These handles have helped my hands immensely! It's from Provo Craft and I found it online. The only problem has been with the plastic screw part of the hook. I've used the "G" size so much that the hook is beginning to turn in the handle but I use a rubber band to hold it tight and that works. My hands get very tired and the muscles get tight every once in awhile especially if I've been working with fabric for rugs. That's why I really try to mix up the weight of the materials I use. I'll switch off from yarn to fabric to thread to jute every chance I get so my hands get a different workout.

I'd like the link to your Esty site if you don't mind, do you sell crocheted rag rugs ? I can crochet a tiny bit but no patience for it. I do have some lovely crochet valences I just couldn't pass up at a flea market one day. I know the amount of labor and time that it took to make them. I still have them in a box downstairs and will probably never use them I should put them on eBay. I haven't been putting any dollies or handwork of any kind on as I too have noticed the time has passed. Wouldn't you know...

It's just no fair about the rain distribution!!! We got about 15 minutes of sprinkles yesterday morning. :(

Little Winnie made quite a statement this morning. I made her move from the rug in the kitchen where Charley likes to be during breakfast. She moved, then went into the living room and left a little 'present' on his pad in there while I wasn't watching! Conniving little brat!

Hot and humid here today too. Been outside getting hot and sweaty. Just sold Chuck's pontoon boat. Had to unload all our poles and tackle boxes off it before it left. It sure was hard to watch it go. I bought it for Chuck for Christmas in 09, and he really never got to use it. It had only been out on the water about 5 times. Other than that it was in a covered boat slip at the marina here until August last year. The lake was so down last year that our friend Jimmy went and got it and parked it back under it's cover here. The guy who bought the boat was also looking at the tractor and implements too, so who knows.

Every time something of Chuck's leaves it makes it a little more real that he is gone. Some things, like his fishing poles and tackle are going with me. He and I have always had a boat and fished. We both loved it.

Well it's time for lunch now, so going to go feed myself. My stomach will be happy.

for Red ..here's the link to my etsy store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/PaulettesPlace I've only got one listing right now because the rest expired and I haven't done much work on new listings. (reminder to self, work on etsy store) I've got a couple custom orders that I'm working on. I usually have the store up and running around april 1st and keep it up for about 8 months then take winter off. Yes, I do make rag rugs. If you look at the items I've sold you'll see some pictures. I also make doilies and other thread items, make stuffed animals (when I can get cotton worsted weight yarn on sale). I've made coasters from jute, outdoor rugs in jute. I tried the 'plarn' (plastic bag yarn) but I don't like working with it. I know many women do make plarn items and it is a good way to recycle plastic bags but then again many cities are beginning to ban the use of the bags so the supply might dry up. thanks for asking!

I checked it out too Paulette, beautiful work! I particularly liked the rag rugs, they reminded me of the ones my Granny made.
