Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It's Wednesday! Where is everyone?

Postby relaxing101 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 8:18 am

Good morning all!

I am used to being the only one on here reading posts early in the morning but usually someone has started the day for us! Since I don't do a lot of posting but an awful lot of reading, most of you won't know who I am but, believe me, I know who everyone on here is.

Due to a lot of things going on in my life right now, I am not able to get out and travel and see the things that I want to see and do so I depend on all of the wonderful ladies on this forum to take me along with them and I so enjoy the trips. Alaska has always been one of my dream trips and thanks to Liz, Beth, Nan, Birdie and all of the rest, I am seeing some awesome sights!

For all of those traveling, please be safe and enjoy your trip! For those at home, enjoy the day and try to stay cool.

Oh, by the way, the coffee is on!!

I'm stuck at work :( But at least my week is half over already - this is my Friday off.

I'm starting to get a little antsy about a trip out in the Land Dinghy. I just don't know where.

Everyone have a good morning!

I'm like Bonnie..do lots of reading and little posting. I also wondered where everyone was. For a second I thought my computer had crashed! Very unusual to have no morning posts. I so enjoy the site, reading about everyone's travels and life. While John and I are in sticks and bricks house and would probably never be full timers I enjoy the stories you have. We took a long trip last fall, a shorter one this past spring and now have another fall trip planned. As you can tell by the signiture photo's we have a small trailer. Like it that way and if we find a need for a good bed and cable tv we get an occassional motel room while on the road. I had lots of trouble resizing Breezie's photo but since she is #1 around the house I guess she deserves to have a large image. She loves to go in the jeep and is a good traveler. Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Good to see Rita and Bonnie post this morning! I remember you both.

I love your Shasta Loflyte Rita and Breezie! I have never met a Brussels Griffon but from the picture I think I'm in love! What a cutie. Did you get any vegetables or berries this year or have you had rain up there? I haven't been able to find black raspberries here for two years and the woman who used to make black raspberry jelly hasn't brought any to our Farmers Market.

Sorry you have not been out on the road lately Bonnie, I too have had 'life' get in the way of my travels lately. I finally found my dream RV last July and have not been out that many times in it yet. Keep in mind the Florida GTG that will be happening in probably January, maybe you could stop by for a visit it you can't stay over.

We had some excitement here this morning at 4:00 am and after an hour I went back to bed. Something shook the house and woke us up. There was a roaring and I thought a tornado was coming but it just kept roaring. I looked at the window and there was an orange glow. We walked out on the porch and could see a fire above the trees. A pipeline had exploded about a mile from here. It was in a marsh or pasture so no one was hurt. I would hate to have been driving by when it happened. When I was in college a pipeline exploded about 5 miles from the campus and we thought one of the dorms was on fire. That one killed 19 people.

I haven't planned any trips this month because my grandson is here. My niece and her husband will be at the lake this weekend so might try to talk my son into going to the lake. They really aren't into camping or family get togethers so will have to see.

It is still morning here in Alaska ans Nan and I are still sitting next to beautiful Kelly Lake. Liz had left a message yesterday while we were out on the lake in the kayaks that she and Birdie were planning to drive on to Kelly Lake (they spend yesterday driving Liz's daughter and granddaughter back to Anchorage. Nan and I are leaving the kayaks inflated until we know for sure whether Liz is planning on joining us for the day or we might decide to move on to find a laundry, etc.

Did I mention that the sky is blue and cloudless and the water is like glass....and did I mention the loons calling. :) I think Liz and Birdie might like a little "lake" therapy.....

Hi ladies!

I, too, was surprised not to see a morning post for today. Maybe it's because it's just too darn hot to do much to get ourselves motivated. I went to workout this morning, and when I got home, our window a/c was off. I checked all our breakers and that wasn't the problem, so I guess our a/c decided to quit on the warmest day of the summer. But the window fans and paddle fans are going and we'll survive. Maybe I can find an end of the summer sale on air conditioners.

I roasted a turkey yesterday and right now have bread rising. Why do I do these things when it's so dang hot out? But if it's any consolation, I'm retired and didn't have to go into work today. So life is good.

I'm enjoying reading the blogs of the ladies in Alaska and now I'm following Lori & Ernie around the country. Others are also on the road, so it's fun to follow them on their travels, as well. Be safe & cool, whatever you are doing.

Hi Rita, Bonnie and everybody else. Got up early today to go get Paul's MH. We are home with it. Woohoo! It looks good sitting in the pasture now. Got too hot again for too many days so now taking rest to day off. Have taken pain meds because arms and legs are really hurting. Going to lay down for a little while.

Went to bank again today with the check for Chuck's pontoon boat. The teller let me know there is still not enough funds to cover the check. One of my banks is same as the lady who wrote the check so at least I am not depositing it only to find a week or so later it's not any good. I called and left message that now I either need cash or the boat back. I still have the titles, so if they do not bring cash or boat back, I can report stolen. Also, check for $10,000 that won't clear is a felony in Texas, I think. Chuck and I have taken checks for things always and this is the first time we have ever had a problem with one. Before I paid for Paul's MH, this was money I thought I would have. Could not pass up on the MH for such a good price in such good condition, so went ahead and paid for it. Mom has given me back all but the $10,000 since she had planned on buying it with the money I am paying her for her mobile home since it is being sold as part of my deal with Matt. I had intended that $10,000 would go to her as a partial payment on her home. As hard as it was to sell his pontoon boat, this makes it even worse.

All that I have accomplished this week is getting Paul's MH, so tomorrow has got to be a busy work day!

Everyone have a great rest of the day!

Very late Wednesday

Postby Redetotry » Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:35 pm

We can't have a day without at least one post to morning coffee so even if it is late afternoon I hope everyone's day is going well. Very little going on I'm just being lazy in this heat (it's 105 with heat index) I'm even going to fix coffee here and not venture out to the coffee house. I have a piece of blueberry pie and some vanilla ice cream to go with!

Hi Bonnie, Sorry you are running into roadblocks but hopefully you will be able to realize your dream soon.
Rita, I remember when you joined, just a couple of months after I joined. I wouldn't have had any idea what breed Breezie is but she is adorable.
Martha, we are surrounded by gas wells, one only about a half mile away. I try not to think of what a catastrophe it would be if one exploded. There are hundreds of wells in a 3 county area.
Irmi, If only we were closer so I could invite myself to eat :D :D ...I hate to think of what it would be like if my ac quit now. We are back into triple digits with no rain in sight..
Dawn, I hope you kept the insurance on it. Do you think they did this intentionally.. just hope they don't trash it or wreck it while in their possession. I'm sure you are having the oppressive heat maybe worst than we are. I am not feeling very good today either but my GD Paige came over and we boxed up some kitchen things. She shares an appt with her best friend and they both work and attend College. Together we've helped them furnish their apt.
She is a sweetheart, is always so appreciative of everything you do for her.

Well my morning just disappeared......I got busy early as I am getting ready to head out in the Motorhome this weekend. Busy washing rugs, towels, dog beds and packing up the "camping supplies". I take totally different stuff with me when I am just living in it for work.

We are having a few cool mornings so I am making the most of them. Heats up in the afternoon but I am usually D O N E by then anyway. Once I have everything clean, which should be today, I will drive over and load the Motorhome. I live in a Community that has a gated RV Parking storage lot so that makes it handy. Bought a new BBQ and got a couple cannisters for it so that should do me. Just need to load it and the camping chairs. Have a new sewer hose that I found in the storage unit ha ha Now just need to find the tub that has the camping outside dishes, paper plate holders, tablecloths, etc. Also found my new lantern that I havent used yet....actually forgot I had it....sigh. No telling what else I will find.

Food will be last of course. I can buy stuff along the way but like to take the basics with me to start with.

Baking a chocolate cream pie as I had an extra pie crust from when I made Quiche last week. Im tired of Quiche so moving on to chocolate :)

I read early this morning we were having coffee, just in a different "room". Martha, you certainly have excitement around your house! Firstan alligator, now an explosion! our super hot weather has left for now, but rain has taken its place. Grandkids and some friends are coming over tomorrow to go swimming. I'd better go get some snacks! Dawn, I too want to know if you think that thing with the boat was intentional, or maybe they are waiting for funds to transfer or something hopefully. Do you have a valid phone number? Irmi, do you have a spare room, or an rv pad? Im moving in! Last night I had crackers for dinner! Everyone have a great rest of the day. Wendy

I would call them and tell them that. That might get a fire under their financial butts!

Gettin' nothin' done today. Worked for 4 hours and only did 3 haircuts. I have a prepaid voucher for a kayaking tour of the La Jolla Caves and wanted to do that before I leave. Called for a reservation and found out they are booked up for the next month! Nix that idea... Then I had put some nice, new clothes I have, aside to bring to a consignment shop nearby, only to find out that they take things by appointment only and are also booked up for a month or so. Who knew?

So I need to check my to-do list and see what else I can try to accomplish today  .

I bought a cat bed for Lola yesterday for her travel cage. She loves it and has been sleeping in it constantly (I put it up on my bed for now). She is fussy about beds (they HAVE to be ROUND since she is NOT a SQUARE cat! Meow, meow, meow!!!) so I am happy that she like it!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, most likely your consignment store is upscale. Ours isn't...they have one restriction..no more than 20 items at a time and on hangers but you can go load up the car and just make sure there is an hour or so between drop offs. They furnish hangers and don't require pressing just clean. I have a load in my truck now and hope to take 50 to 60 items per week until I'm down to what will hang in my storage building. Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets :D She will most likely be very happy on the trip.
Dawn, in reading about your situation with your borderline thieves I remembered what 'The Desiderata' says: Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery..But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; Many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
It is full of moral wisdom and I have it framed and keep it with me at all times.
