Wonderful Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wonderful Saturday

Postby Redwahine » Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:05 am

Good morning all, The next wave of rain and thunder missed us last night. I slept with my snorkel next to my bed  The shooting ranges are under too much water for practicle application of the shot guns we already own. So off we go (husband and I) to a big gun show at the convention center. Husband's new obsession - collecting guns. Gun shows every weekend during the summer is a new experience for me. Great people watching!!!! With my new Texas drivers license I may sign up to get my license to carry. Everyone stay safe and have a great weekend.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Was gonna post and open the Coffee room this morn but thought I would refresh the page to double check so that there wouldn't be 2. Good thing I did!! :D

Well it's humid and kinda soggy here still. I guess it rained again last night after I went to bed cause the handle on the steps was wet and so was the grass. Leaned up against the picnic table drinking my coffee while Shade did what she needed to do and my butt got damp. Hate that when it happens cause for what ever reason? That wet or damp spot gets super itchy. Something about the wood I guess. I will sure be glad when it quits with all the rain. We really needed it but enough is enough! Everything feels damp and soggy now. Plus I need to get the jack stands under the trailer and the tires off. I am NOT fond of laying on wet ground!!! Might just have to borrow a shovel and dig some dirt out from under the trailer so that I can jack it up for the jack stands? Sure wish I still had my little collapsible shovel but son snitched that. That little short shovel would be easier to use under the trailer! Maybe I will have Kelly pick up a little gardening trowel? That would work too. ;)

Working the line today 1 to close, tomorrow I do dishes 1 to close and Monday I am working with the cook in the back of the kitchen. Working in the back of the kitchen will be a freaking hot job and I'm not looking forward to it at all. Working with the cook doesn't bother me as I like her and it should be interesting it's the thought of the heat back there that is not gonna be fun!!!

Leaving here to go to Dawn's house on the 24th not only has me excited to pick up the new to me trailer but it also means that I will have that time off of work too!!! WOOHOO! It will be a unpaid vacation! As soon as I get home again I am gonna put my app in at WalMart. Kelly says that they are short on people so hopefully I will get hired on real quick like, then I can turn in my 1 week notice. So I have two awesome things to be excited about! :D

OK, didn't mean to really write so much but....... Hope everyone has a great day and sure hope ya'll stay safe too.

Love to all

Hi Carolyn, I've been missing you. Wish we had a GTG to go to. :D I'm so sick of all this rain but can't complain too much because we could be in a drouth. My grandson is at my house this week and he is getting cabin fever. We camped 3 nights coming back from Florida and he wasn't impressed. If we miss the rain this afternoon maybe we can take him to the splash pad at the state park.

Red, I bet you can see some sights at the gun shows. My son still talks about an outdoor show we went to when he was about 10. It was a gun/boat/rv show and they had a snake show for entertainment. My son really wanted to see the snakes so we got a front row seat. When it started the guy walked out and poured a sack full of snakes on the stage. Before I realized what I was doing I was standing up in my chair. I told him he could stay but I was out of there.

My sister's husband was into guns in a big way. He even loaded his own shells. I hope your DH hasn't found the pawn shops yet. My BIL probably knew every pawn shop in Louisiana and East Texas.

Echo, my son uses a yoga mat in front of his tent when he goes tent camping. It makes a good place to stand and doesn't seem to soak up any water. Would be better to lay on than the wet ground. Or some big cardboard boxes would work too until they got wet.

good morning ladies
been up for a little while now, I'm about coffee'd out and had cookies for breakfast :D
Think I'm awake enough now to start on the quilt and get it finished this morning. I can do that while the
uniforms run through the wash machine. Its still very damp here so will probably do the sheets/linens in
the dryer instead of hanging on the line. Shirts I always just put them on hangers and they just dry by
monday morning.
Saw a little algae growing in the betta tank yesterday, so need to put more treatment in. Little guy doesn't
get any exercise since his little guppy buddy died. Guess I should get another one.
Sounds like my day is an easy one.
Will post a pic of the quilt when I get it finished later on.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe and stay dry.

Well it's afternoon and I am still in Georgia and at a KOA. Can you imagine that ! But I do believe the RV place convinced them. Yas, as usual Murphy done struck again. !!!

We will be here as far as I know till Wednesday. Parts were shipped in today. And the job will be started on Monday. They have to pull the generator out and break it down to replace the coupler to the fly wheel pulley ...those who know what that initials will understand. Other wise explained as 12 hours labor !!!!

I wrote about it some what on my blog. ..and with that some of the finer moments I wasn't able to share in English :(

We are now just getting it back to some kind of "norm". And for me. That's different..

Really tired but just pray that the rest of our journey goes smoothly. :D

God bless

Zeee and worn out critters with hubby talking to himself. :o

Good morning !! I'm still in central time zone, so its not noon yet  :o Maggie and I, have decided to stay in this park another night. I'm having trouble with swelling ankles, which even when pregnant, I wasn't bothered with, so thought another day with them not hanging down might help. One more day to my destination in Miss. to get my generator fixed. I've had problems with it, since I first got the rig, now I have something to fix. Always would right itself, but not this time, and before the first yr. is up. want it right. I use my gen a lot, don't like to be dependent on CGs as I am this trip.

I've stayed in this park a number of times, its really only one in this area on Hwy. 60, best route through Mo., for me heading west. New owners, younger couple , and they have really made some nice improvements. Fri. nights, Bluegrass music and tonight a meal down at one the of rigs. Didn't go last night, so tired and ankles were just too swollen. I will be glad to get home to my dr., about this situation. Hope Gen doesn't take to long to get fixed, know I won't come back over to Ms. to get it done, so must do it now. Not sure if I will go tonight or not, depends on ankles. Which is a sorry state of affairs, lately seems other things are making my plans for me, and I do not like it

Had a wonderful visit with son, got some nice pix of his property and heard about all of his plans. He lives in a much better area for a visit now, from time to time. Before he was down around Dallas, sorry for those who live around that mess, you don't have to worry about me coming in and making the crowd worse  Liz and I, did it one time, that was way more then enough !!!!!

Well, so I don't pass out anymore insults on locations people call home, I best shut my mouth and get off of here
Have a great day everyone, those traveling stay safe, those not, hope you're planning something fun but safe,

CArol :)

Zeee, seems we were posting at same time, and also have same problems, Generators not working, hope mine isn't something that has to be torn apart, Ugh
good luck to you all, glad the park is letting you stay, God Bless, take care of yourself, don't get to upset.

Red, Men and their guns..it's probably one of the best things to collect now. From what I have heard the problems could be with getting bullets..Hopefully NRA will keep big brother out of our hair on this. I know a man who makes bullets every weekend. I just wonder how many he has now. We are up here in the Ozarks and many old customs still hold. There's a gun hanging in many pickups and survivalist's mentality is common. Lots of people are storing up food and water and other items.
Carolyn, I wish you would try to shorten your lengthy post :D
Echo, we're all excited for you in making your trip to Texas to get your 'new to you' home. Is there a name yet? Why don't you go ahead and put in your application. Walmart will work with you on the planned trip. This way you could go ahead and give notice and the job would be waiting when you get back. I say all this because Kelly mentioned a shortage right now and they might fill them while you're gone otherwise.
Ava, how long was the Guppy in with the Betta. Betta's normally can't cohabitate with another fish other than the female and then she has to be taken out quickly after laying eggs. I will ask Mel if a Guppy might be an exception. Tho I own a pet store, I am now down to one little male Beta, had 4 aquariums at one time. Don't worry he will get plenty of exercise. He will make bubble nests, tear them down and make more all in anticipation of a female coming to visit. I named mine Louie the 3rd and by the way it's time to change his water.

Good morning all, bored and trying to decide what to do with the day. I know, no one's fault but my own if Im bored. Don;t know what the weather is going to do and don't know what I feel like doing.Echo can put in her app at Walmart as soon as she's back. Kelly needs to alert the people in personnel to her app so she can pull when they get word they can hire. They always need help, but have to get word from the home office to hire. If nothings changed, family members always have a good chance of being hired. I am not very good with fish. The last ones I had I fed to death! At least they were happy! Off to find something to do, everyone else do the same! Wendy

Well, it's 12:30 here in Texas, so it's a little late for a 'good morning y'all' greeting. However, I have been up since 8:30 so it's not like I've been sleeping all this time LOL

I took my dog Oliver to the vet this morning for his annual checkup and shots. I had to buy him a muzzle because he doesn't do well around other people and last year the vet recommended it. He wasn't real happy with it but things went smoothly at the vet. Bad news is that Oliver has gained weight - almost 10 pounds in the last year - and the vet says that's not a good thing. So I guess both of us will get on the diet and exercise road - again  I too have put on some weight since last year, unfortunately.

Redwahine, my brother got really big into guns about 5 years ago. He has some collectibles, some for sport shooting (skeet, target), and some for general protection. He keeps telling me I need a handgun for protection since I travel so much, but I'm still pushing back from that. Maybe after I start my RV journeys, but then again, maybe not.

Not too much on the agenda for the weekend. I start back to work on my part-time job next Tuesday, so I really should do some house cleaning and stuff around the house.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I know Bettas can be agressive when it comes to nesting and territory, I've always had at least one betta in a community tank if it was big enough tank
there were no problems. The betta does chase the guppy around, hence getting his exercise. The guppies I've put in there, usually last around 3 or 4
months. With lots of folage and places to hide the fish get alot of exercise chasing around the tank. Back when I had a 15 gal tank and a pair of guppies
the betta fed on the baby guppies keeping the guppies in check. Had guppies in there for years. The tank I have now is just a two and a half gallon
tank, one betta and at one time, there was one catfish and one algae eater. Now there is just the Betta.

CArol, I really meant to address you too in last post. I know you are anxious to get home but that sounds like a nice park to stay until you feel a little better. My left ankle swells when I drive. For some reason all my problems are on the left side of my body. The generators are nice to have. This caused me to debate longer on the bumper pull but since Honda makes such a quiet one and lightweight I think this will solve that problem.
Wendy, it doesn't hurt to have a lazy day. I'm thinking when I get this project over with I will take several days to be lazy and hopefully in a nice park somewhere even if its just down the road.
Ava, I've learned something on the Betta's. They are mean little things is all I know. Mel encourages almost everyone to put African Cyclids in their aquariums. They are also aggressive and won't mix with many other fish. So many people think they want salt water but the price of the fish scares them off. The African Cyclid's are very colorful and this is the reason he suggests them.

Been an emotional night and day. Took Luke to vet on Thursday for his shots and annual blood work. I thought they were going to tell me he had developed diabetes because he had put on weight this last year and had gotten where he was drinking more and more water. He tested normal for everything except in one area. He was really high in whatever the indicators for Cushings Disease are. I had to take him back today for testing where they give him steroid shot and then check his blood work at 4 hours and again at 8 hours. Had never heard of this until last night when vet's office called. I have done a lot of research since then. What I thought were symptoms of diabetes are also symptoms of Cushings Disease. If he has it, there is medication for it and will have to be closely monitored by vet. My vet's office knows that I will be traveling soon and the vet said she could work with me to arraign vets visits whereever we are for the monitoring. I was really upset to learn the average lifespan after this diagnosis is about 2 years. One of the key factors for living the longest is no stress in the dog's life. I will do my best to make sure he doesn't have any stress. Luke was definitely a Daddy's Boy and he has real anxiety issues now. He cannot stand for me to be out of his sight and has to be touching me or sitting where he can look directly at me. I definitely know I cannot lose him this soon after Chuck if I have any say in it. It will be Tuesday before I get the results of today's testing.

Everyone have a wonderful evening!

Dawn, sorry to hear about Luke but Cushings is very hard to diagnosis. They thought Winnie had it but then decided it was something called Psychogenic Diabetes Insipides which has very similar symptoms. If they rule out Cushings & want to do a water deprivation test for the Diabetes Insipides it needs to be done under supervision of the vet as the kidneys need to be monitored. There are two types, one is caused by a tumor on the adrenals and the other is psychological. The vet here told me to withhold her water for 12 hours. I wouldn't do it as I consulted with friend who is Chief of Staff at a vet school who strongly advised against doing it without supervision. She had an ultra sound and no tumor so I could either treat her with a very expensive medication or be sure she is never without water. I chose to keep her in water and so far she is fine other than wanting to eat all the time. Be sure they also check his thyroid especially if he has had any hair loss. Diabetes Insipides is fairly rare so you might ask if that could be a possibility.

They checked his thyroid and it was normal. He has not had any hair loss, but all the other symptoms of Cushings. Whatever it is, I will deal with it. Lukey Luke was our "only dog" for a long time. We and our friends used to laugh about that. He was spoiled like an "only child". Our 2 legged kids used to complain that Luke got away with way more than they ever did.  Sibling jealousy.  They called him their Baby Brother.
