Quick question.

I know that you and Paul said everything works, but can you tell me if Paul was running the fridge on gas or electric???

On electric. I think he kept it on Auto just in case we had a power outage here.

I know he baked in his oven all winter. He said once it got real hot outside, he didn't bake because of the heat. I was in the TT yesterday afternoon and it was good and cool in there. It wasn't anywhere clean enough, so I gave him a deadline of Friday to have the floors scrubbed along with the shower and carpet. His idea of clean and mine are no where near the same.

I felt really mean, but I had to tell him and Mom both that they needed to get their butts in gear. My Mom is a pack rat and I told her that I could not see where she had cleared anything out. I have watched that show Hoarding, Buried Alive and I see a lot of that in my Mom. Not that bad, but close. She has always been like that. We used to have big disagreements about housework when I was growing up. Her house is still full of stacks and trash. She said Paul needed to help her. I told her he was on his own deadline. When he was finished there, he could help her. Told her that I have to rely on the two of them to clean out their own homes. I have my home and all the outbuildings. I love my Mom, but she has always been the kind that relied on other people to take care of her. I understand that, and have no problem with taking care of her once we get on the road. In the meantime, I need her to step up. I told her I knew she had health issues, but she needed to do a little, sit a little, do a little, etc. She was so proud this afternoon that she had packed 2 boxes of glasses and filled 2 trash bags. I am hoping to build on that pride.

OK, Echo, I am through venting. Thanks for listening. LOL!

Oh jeeze Dawn I hear ya. Kelly is something like that. She did do the sorting and getting rid of thing but it took time and then she ended up doing most of it in one day. Shocked the poop out of me. Now I'm the one who has to go thru and get rid of more. She left me holding the 'blame'!

That's what I am afraid of, that it's going to come down to having to get Mom's house done in just a day or two. I cannot figure out what she's been doing everyday. She told me this morning that I just could not see all that she had done. I told her she was right. I still did not see a single surface that was not just stacked completely. I don't get it. I think she just does not want to get rid of anything, so she cannot really get started. I know it is emotional parting with your things, but it has to be done. She cannot stay here after I move. I am selling the land her mobile home is sitting on along with her mobile home. I am paying her more than book value for her mobile home because she does not understand depreciation and I don't want her to feel like she is losing anything. I am just very frustrated tonight. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Sounds like your gonna have to start cracking the whip and stand firm. Could threaten to do what my girlfriend use to do with her girls. Crab and complain and when nothing got done she cleaned out their rooms with garbage bags in hand. Everything that was on the floor and not put away where it belonged got throwed out and donated!! Her girls freaked out but started to keep their rooms cleaner. She refused to replace anything that she got rid of,

Dawn, maybe you could hire someone to help your mom go thru stuff. There are professionals who do that kind of thing.

Echo, you sound SO excited and I am so excited for you!

Barbie, it may come down to that. Hopefully not. As soon as I hear from Matt next week, I should have an idea of how long we have to get finished packing everything up. I may have to recruit the girls.

Hiring someone or getting her help is a good idea. The girls might be a better choice, that way it's not a stranger pawing thru her stuff. And the girls are more apt to follow your instructions as to getting rid of stuff where an outsider wouldn't have very firm ground to stand on. As much as I hate to say it? It just might come down to you being the General in charge and needing to be a bully. I've watched those shows too and the heart wrenching, tears and arguments that goes on is horrible. One show I caught a couple of weeks ago was bad. They were going to be evicted and the dad was still buying stuff and hiding it. Going into the daughters room and putting his stuff cause he didn't have the room and the daughter was coming unglued on him.

At least when I went thru my Mom's stuff she wasn't there to raise he77 with me when I threw things in the trash. I don't envy you the job at all. And me? I know I don't have the space to keep stuff but still hang on to some of it. And I know that it's got to GO!!! ~sigh~

LOL, that has been my role with my Mom and my brother, Paul most of my life. Too many long stories to tell. My sister, Kathy, is estranged from our Mom because she cannot handle Mom's issues. Mom doesn't understand and it is not for me to tell her why Kat doesn't come around. Mom is a wonderful, giving person but was not good at taking care of her kids. I moved out between my junior and senior years of high school telling my Mom that I was tired of raising her kids. It was her turn. I have always regretted saying that to her. She was doing the best she could do. Kat says that God put me on this earth to take care of everyone. I guess He did. Going from taking care of Chuck 24/7 to taking care of Mom 24/7. I am hoping her health will get better when she is on the road since she loves traveling.

I hope so too. Doing different things, seeing new and different things, traveling and being active just might be the ticket!!!
