Morning ladies! Yesterday was an expensive day for me...must be something about Texas? As some of you may remember, last summer while here I had issues with one of the ac units on the rv...well, I guess the jeep felt left out. Saturday the starter started failing...Saturday night I drove my sons car back to the rv because the jeep would not start. So, yesterday I bought a starter for her and sons buddy installed it for me, saving me lots of $$, I'm sure. But after installing it, battery gave up the ghost too, so off to Walmart for a new battery! And that did the trick! We are back to all is good!

The ex called me last night to give me a status on how the sticks and brick is faring while I'm away. Seems daughter and her boyfriend have moved in because their air conditioner unit quit working. And that's not good in all this heat they have been having. All I can say is, I cleaned the house really good before I left...and it better be in the same condition when I get back!!!!! Oh, and it would be nice if my daughter had actually called me to let me know what's going on...kids!

Son is on vacation this week so I'm not sure what we might do around here. I do know I have a tentative lunch date with Redwahine (sp) this week that I'm looking forward to. And it looks like we will be getting rain most of the week here in the Houston area. It keeps the temps down some...but the humidity...that's another story!

Ava, I'll bet you are happy to be getting back to work! CArol, safe travels to you today. Everyone else, have fun and stay safe.

Good Morning Carol and Ava and all who follow. It rained and cooled off here yesterday afternoon. We didn't get a lot of rain but at least it settled the dust and since we've had none in so many months any amount was welcome. Several of the trees look like late fall with many dead leaves sure hope they recover. We can replace plants but it's sad to think about the possibility of huge oaks dying.

I hope you have a good trip Carol and that the weather isn't bad as you head home. Ava I bet you are happy to be back in your routine. Paulette sorry to hear about your car problems. Enjoy your GTG with Redwahine and try not to think about the home front. Maybe your daughter will surprise you or you could strongly encourage her to surprise you :)

It is an especially happy day as my brother is supposed to be released from the hospital today. It has been a long two weeks and he still has a way to go but he will be so happy to get home to his own bed.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

It rained pretty good here last night so things are rather damp outside. Temps feel just a tad cooler but it's still a sauna out there. really looking forward to this coming week and the temps into the 80's.

Paulette, so sorry for the vehicle troubles. I had to do fuel pump, steering column and battery last summer. This year the son has done a lot of work on the truck and just a couple of weeks ago he replaced the starter. I am sooooooooo very glad that he could do the work as it saved me some major money too! This week or next he is gonna replace the distributor on the truck. Talk about not being able to save!

Kelly is off cleaning the bathrooms and 2 cabins today. She has off from WalMart today and is gonna get dishes done up.

Carol is hitting the road to go home. Be sure to take it easy and be safe.

Ava is going back to work and is gonna have a paycheck coming in again! YAY!

BJ is doing a happy dance cause her brother is getting out of the hospital. More YAY!

Jeeze, what and who else is gonna be doing a happy dance today?

I will be leaving early for work cause I have to get my aunt granny's dress today. I am so looking forward to putting in my app to WalMart and getting out of dishes and the kitchen at work. They keep putting me back in dishes. Next week they have me working with the cook for 2 days. Being in front of the ovens and fryers is not gonna be much cooler than the dish hole. ~sigh~

OK, gonna go read and catch up a little bit. Hope ya'll have a great day and that you do it all safely!

Love to all

Good morning everyone! Supposed to get cooler this week, but the catch is supposed to rain! Echo, how long after kelly put the app in at Wmart did they call her? Don't know if you should put it in now and have her tell tell when you'll be out of town. Also have her tell the personnel manager when you apply. If nothings changed since I was there, Wmart likes to hire family members. We had whole families practically at one time and quite a few husbands and wives and parents and kids! BTW< will there be pictures in the granny dress????? I'd better go before I get slapped! DISCO!!!!

Good morning gals!

Got some phone calls to make today about trailer hitches and reservations and AAA. Also gonna check on a place across the street about looking my car over to make sure it is good to go for the trip back to MN. Then will pick up a harness for Lola and see how that goes with her.
Then do a little laundry and head off to work later this afternoon. The haircut sale is finally over! So it should be a little less hectic this week. They have me scheduled for 6 days and 43 hours this week and then again next week! Need the money but won't have much time for sorting and packing.

Would like to see a few more things out here before I leave, but not sure I will have time. :(

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Question came up on FB this morning as to where I am. This is a whine (pass the cheese please) so please feel free not to read it!

We are at Barnes and Noble in Anchorage on our way south. My enthusiasm waned during our time in Denali (and since) so haven't even thought about blog - will see how long we sit here with Internet. Liz has great photos!

The long bus rides in Denali and the missed photo opportunites while on those buses were not my cup of tea. However, the area was beautiful and I certainly understand the use of buses!! Did no hiking which is probably the biggest disappointment. Then someone said the furnace wasn't working so we left 2 days early - furnace is now working fine.

We did 'do' the Denali Highway for a couple days which was much drier this time!

Not having electricity - EVER - is a big surprise but someone doesn't like campgrounds - last one was May 25.

Yep, I am in a mood!!

Posting late today. Finally went to Walmart to get some groceries. Have been out of bread for about 4 days which is a major issue to me. I love my bread and butter. Just haven't felt like getting groceries. Decided I was hungry for a Rib Eye so got one while at Walmart. I know better and should not have bought it there. It was supposedly their premium cut, but even cooked medium rare, it was tough. What a waste of $14. Ok, that's the end of my griping.

Barb, just buz me when you want to talk iPad to iPad. Looking forward to meeting your husband.

Yup, Disco Ball and music! Let's see; in addition to KC and the Sunshine Band, got to have Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, Carol King, Diana Ross, The Temptations and every other singer/group I can put on playlist to blare along with the Disco Ball and strobe light.  I loved disco back in the day!

Dawn, have you seen the Walmart ad where the people are eating steak at South Fork. I laugh every time the guy says it's better than a steak house. My DH and I wonder what kind of steak house he has been eating at. The best steaks around here come from Sam's and they aren't as expensive as the local grocery stores. My DH use to want steak 2 or 3 time a week but now we try to eat healthier. Most Sundays a grilled steak and salad is our meal. The rest of the week it is chicken or fish and sometimes a crock pot of some kind of beans.

Martha,

I hate Walmart meat. Normally I won't buy any there. I get ours from Brookshire's here. They have a great butcher and I always get a good cut of meat. We used to eat steak a lot too, but over the years have started eating more chicken and fish too. I did not want to make an extra trip to Brookshire's since I was already at Walmart. I thought I would take a chance based on those commercials about their "steak house quality" meat. Won't do that again! I have bought meat at Sam's too and it was really good, but the closest Sam's is about 30 minutes from me so don't go there much.
