Cool Down Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Down Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jul 07, 2012 5:02 am

Good Morning from the 45th,

Cloudy and much cooler morning here right now. Looks like the promised break from the heat is moving in. According to the radar, it's supposed to be raining here right now, but my drive is dry, so appparently hasn't really come in yet. We could use some as it's been a few days since we have had some. Thanks to an above average rainfall for June plus a couple of good soakings just prior to this heat wave, most grasses up here and hanging in there, barely. If it rains today, that will green things up again. I can see where my grass, such as it is, is beginning to stress.

With the heat wave, it's been a busy time at the park. We have been turning about 150 cars a day away due to the day use area being filled to capacity. And then probably another 25 boats per day as well. We only have so many parking spaces.
The campground has been anywhere from completely to full to some empty campsites. Yesterday was a change over with a number of camps leaving and more coming in. A couple two or three left early and there have been some cancellations as well. Probably just too hot and some would rather just stay home in air conditioned houses than come camping for now. And there have been some bad storms in the lower part of Michigan as welll.

The power failure of the night of July 4th was due to a transformer. Power wasn't restored till around 3:30 the next mornng. Two of our three toiler/shower buildings had to be closed since the outage affected that part of the campground where the well and pump are located. Yesterday, somebody hit and broke our Boat Launch sign, so we are having all sorts of fun this week.

Haven't had time to read anything much on the forum these past few days, been busy and it's too hot. I did read where BarbaraRose is heading back to MN. I think you are making the right move Barbie. As much as you love CA, it's just not in the cards for you at the moment. Someday you can go back again if you still want to. Right now you need some stability in your life and a chance to come ahead financially.

Been wondering about Echo. Hope the storms in the Smokies haven't damaged anything around where she and Kelly are and hthat they are both fine.

Well, got to run here. Have a wonderful day all. If you are in the excessive heat areas, please keep cool and drink plenty of water. If you are camped someplace, enjoy. One the road, travel safe etc.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

You sure are having your hands full at that campground, Sue! Maybe things will begin to calm down now!

We are getting a slight sprinkling rain here this morning, and the temperature is 66 degrees. The humidity is at 98%, and that makes it feel not so comfy. I spent yesterday afternoon in my pool, and watched the water get slowly discolored as the day wore on----NO-----I was clean when I got in there!!! :) I remember the other years with my other pool here that I now need to get out my testing kit and probably shock (chemically, not electrically) the heck out of it and then run the pump for long periods, changing the filter often. I really wish I could get my other, larger pump to stay water-tight on those inlets and outlets in order to move more water faster. I think I will try again to do that....perhaps put some gorilla tape on the hose attachments to keep it water tight.

I am about ready to pull out of here Monday morning early, after I stow, hitch, check tire pressure and top them off if necessary. I will hook up Sunday night, but remain plugged in until Monday morning. I talked to Richard last night and have a tentative place to meet up with him in VT so we can park together and save a place for Jack. I also bought two sheets of particle board, 4 X 8 X 1/4 inch, to make a parking pad for when I return a week from Monday.

Hope you all are having a good day wherever you may be!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning! no coffee here it is way to hot... my granddaughter Sekana had to be taken into the emergency room during the night... she started vomiting and could not stop... another case of heat exhaustion... they gave her iv's and something to settle the vomiting... no solid food until tomorrow then only soft things... another lady that came over with her three children wound up in the hospital also with heat exhaustion... it also did something to her heart so she is still in the hospital... some of her family is taking care of the children... this heat is scary... not a thing to mess with... drink drink drink water... not pop it adds to the dehydration...
Not much planned for today... the family is getting sleep they were up all night... I will read and do my internet games...
Stay cool and drink plenty of fluids...

Good Morning !! Had some good rain here yesterday too and week end we are supposed to have more, temps have sure dropped. Has been 100 degrees and more and so dry here , fires everywhere, not good., have broke many records in temp out here, just my luck to be here .

Maggie and I , hopefully will be heading East Monday. Not looking forward to this trip. But I have to get home to see my dr. To get off this blood thinner med I'm taking. BP is not right, some days so low cant take my meds. I think maybe because of the blood thinner. It will be a slow trip home, days I don't feel right will not travel. Luckily I have made this trip so many times I know where so many CGs are , so have paced short days of travel. I'm sure hoping the temps all through the center of our country will all be cooler this next week.

Soos, hope weather will be good for your festival, know you will have fun whatever it is. Sue, sounds like your CG has really been busy, keeps up you will be glad to see winter

not much news here, have all ready to travel. Maggie has recovered from her illness, about finished with her meds, Most days I feel good , just lacking in stanima, energy level is way low for me and that I DO NOT LIKE.

Hope you all will have a great day, those who need rain , sure hope you get some, those who don't need it will pray it stops for awhile in your area. Travelers stay safe, the rest of us will try to stay cool. :o

CArol :)

Wow, heat causing trouble for so many up there Kathleen, hope you are drinking plenty of water, you better be, think you were reminded of that in Fl. Take care but enjoy your family ,sounds like your summer has been a good one. I'm glad for you.

good morning ladies
Coffee is made and dogs are fed and they have gone back to bed. Its nice and quiet in here except for the birds chirping outside
my window and the hum of the cooler. Temperature is great at this early morning.
Plans for today,,,,,hmmm,,,,,guess I'll get the laundry done up cause I go back to work Monday morning, and will get the strips
cut for the quilt. Got all the fabric washed and ironed yesterday and its just calling my name. Am excited to get it started.
Think I've decided to do the strips in a diagonal but I don't have the borders picked out yet. That will require another trip to
the fabric store.
Off to catch up on posts. Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Morning ladies. They are calling for the temps to only be in the upper 80's next week here in Houston area! I'm happy for that as son will be on vacation so we will probably be out and about a bit. Today I'm driving down to league city to visit with my step sister and her hubby ( and their 4 greyhounds and 3 kitties and a bird!) It's pretty much a straight shot down i45.

The rig next to me here had a mobile detailing company come and wash and wax his rig yesterday. It looks so good And has me thinking that I should get mine done. It takes them about 2 and a half hours to hand wash and wax but costs about $325. I know it would be a good investment...just not sure if I want to put out that kind of money. Fred could sure use a good hose down though! I took the jeep thru a car wash yesterday to get all the road grime off her too. Towing sure does make her dirty!

I hurt my lower back somehow before I left home and it still hasn't straightened itself out. I did make it to the chiropractor once before I left, but yesterday morning it "slipped" out again while I was walking the dog. Made for a long trek back to the rig! So, I'm living on advil and using salon pas pads. sure wish I had kept this body in better shape throughout my 30's and 40's! I've been working out at curves, trying to whip it back into shape, but guess it had other ideas of its own!

Well, I hope everyone stays safe, drinks plenty of water and has a wonderful weekend.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Gonna be a warm one again today. Temp outside is already 81 at 10:20am and suppose to go to 95.YUCK! I am so sick and tired of this heat. Starting Monday the temps are suppose to start going down into the 80's. What a relief that will be!!!

Have to work 1 to close today doing dishes. Fun, fun, fun, NOT! Not only am I counting the days until I leave for TX to pick up the trailer I am also counting the days until I get back and put my app in at WalMart. Have totally given up on ever getting out of dishes. In all honesty if we could afford it I would turn in my notice now. But I am gonna be needing our paychecks in 2wks time for gas money for the round trip. ~sigh~

Nothing planned here other than work. Kelly is getting around to go clean the bath houses and a couple of cabins. She says that she wont be back home as when she is done she is gonna take a shower, hop on the bus and go straight to WalMart. The traffic was so bad yesterday that she was late getting to work and doesn't want that to happen again. She called in and told them that she was gonna be late and why and they had no problem with it. I would imagine that with this area that they are well use to it but there's no sense in taking chances!

OK, off to read. Hope everyone has a great day and does whatever they're gonna do safely!!! Stay cool everyone!

Love to all

Soos, have fun on your trip to VT. If you can, get someone to do a little video of you playing your fiddle. Sure would enjoy seeing and hearing that.

Paulette, they are calling for temps in the mid 80's here in North Texas too. Cannot wait. Hope we get some rain too. We need it. So sorry to hear about your back. Be sure and take care of that.

Echo, I sure hope you do get on at Walmart when you get back from here. Will be so much easier on you.

Ava, when you get a block made, be sure and post a pic. Would love to see what you are working on!

Looks like it's going to be a good day for me to get more packing done today. Darla and Tahra coming tomorrow to pick up packed boxes and some of the furniture. Darla and I have been talking about it and I am really ready for the furniture to start leaving now too. I can always bring in outside chairs from the 5'er. Can also bring in air mattress after the girls get our bedroom furniture. I will miss my vanity and jewelry armoir Chuck had given me, but no room in Eostar. Laura wants the jewelry armoir and Darla is so excited about getting the vanity. I have bought 2 regular size jewelry boxes to take the place of the armoir. I can put those in drawers or closets in the MH. Chuck has given me lots of beautiful jewelry over the years and no way am I leaving it behind. One of my friends sent me a coffee table for the MH last night. It's really pretty. Hope it will fit. If not, will give it back to her.

Everyone have a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe!

Barb, don't laugh. Got absolutely no packing done again today. My brother, John, and his wife, Gwyn, came in from Mississippi to get some furniture from Mom's. They just left. Was good spending time with them.

Called my dad today to wish him a happy birthday and then told him I am moving back. He is the happiest guy in the world right now! He is very excited!

The heatwave is over in MN now. Only in the 70's today, so my dad is happy about that. His AC wasn't working for a few days last week and he said it was miserably hot near 100 in the house. My brothers brought him a couple of fans. How thoughtful!

Today at work, we were given Great Clips t-shirts to wear for the weekend. Couldn't wear the one I have last week, but now I have to wear this one. It is an XL and I am a little skinny thing, so it came down to my knees. Looked rediculous in it! Jeeze!

They fired one of the new gals last night because she really messed up several haircuts yesterday. The other new gal is good at cutting and is very sweet but barely speaks English. The assistant manager told me that she is looking for another job and has an interview on Monday.

Got lots of work ahead of me before I leave here! My last day at work will be July 19th, so will have almost a whole week to finish sorting and packing before leaving around the 26th or so.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
