Hot Thursday?

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hot Thursday?

Postby Echo » Thu Jul 05, 2012 5:56 am

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

It's probably gonna be another hot one today tho I haven't checked to make sure. I know that wunderground said it was gonna be high temps all week with chances of T storms. Oh joy. I will be so glad and grateful when this miserable heat wave breaks!

Have to finish getting ready for work and on the clock by 8am. I only put enough clothes on to take Shade out to P so still need to get socks and shoes on plus change my shirt. Would much rather be taking my clothes back off and going back to bed, I did not sleep for crap last night. Have no idea why?? For whatever reason I woke up crying so must have been having a nightmare? I sure don't remember it or anything of what it must have been about.

OK, I know it's short but got to go. Hope ya'll have a really good day and manage to stay cool and safe in all that you do.

Love to all

Echo, I am so sorry you were having a nightmare. Think good thoughts today! It will get better.

Kathleen, I want to see that movie too. Figure I will wait till I get the MH and then get it to add to my small RV DVD collection. It really looks like it will be fun.

My friend Murphy strikes again, aka Barb Zeee. We have been having fun upgrading our cell phones and iPads. I ordered the upgrade for my iPhone day before yesterday and it was working. Yesterday we raced each other to Walmart (I won) to get the iPad 2's on sale. I backed my iPhone and old iPad up to my iTunes. Then loaded apps, etc into new iPad. Lost all my books and knitting machine patterns. Will have to reload them. Worst thing is that my iPhone has decided to completely stop working. Nothing, nada. Just black screen. I am waiting to see if when fully discharges, it will unlock and come back on. Had to do this once years ago with another iPhone. If not, at least I have another iPhone on it's way. Gotta love that Murphy

Needless to say, Barb and I have been playing for last 2 days so today I have got to get back to work packing! All play and no work makes a girl really behind on clearing out rooms!

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Checked the weather and it's supposed to be really nice up north next week when I'm there.

We got rain yesterday but it didn't interfere with the festivities last night. I just didn't want to fight the @$^@^ mosquitoes, so I stayed home.

I have to work today then off until the 16th. I love it!!!

Good Morning to All = hot hot hot - 101 here yesterday 102 for today and Fri and Sat predicted at 104 = it's cooler in Las Vegas and raining there - why did we ever move to Indiana? And this year we put in all new plants out front and have lots and lots of hanging baskets so Bill spends lots of time in the heat trying to save them with the water. Maybe if they all die we'll just get in the RV and take off for somewhere. Hate to see our water and electric bills this month. But at least we do have electric so shouldn't complain.
No fireworks in town last night - they will be in September instead - and I didn't even hear any going off in the woods thank goodness. Did watch all the concerts on TV though.
Keep cool and safe from any severe weather everyone.

I'm so glad my neighbor is mechanically inclined! I have a beautiful little Singer Featherweight sewing machine but I could not get the bobbin to work right. She has an old petal Singer from the 1800's complete with it's tool kit. She quickly diagnosed the problem as a too tight screw messing up the tension, whipped out a tiny screwdriver and fixed it! The little screwdriver was so pretty, more like a piece of art as the bottom part was curved into a pretty design.
Another hot one for us also, it is supposed to start to cool down on Sunday (to 99) and back to fairly normal next week. This has been awful, I went out around seven to take water to my small lilac plants and when I came in I felt like I had walked several blocks. I think our bodies are just extra stressed in this kind of heat. Supposed to be 103 today and still no rain for us since March, but that would raise the humidity and make it worse.
I feel for you Echo having to work in this I know that the kitchen temps probably gets to way over 100.
Kathleen so glad you are having such a great summer visiting family and friends!
Is the heat just getting to you Carol, we've had it for over a week and every thing is toast. We are watering a few plants with sprinkler hose and I also hate to think about out water bill :o Fireworks were cancelled here too and I didn't hear any going off, the police were watching out for offenders. Do you have family in Indiana? It is a long way from Vegas!
Hope everyone has a good day, stay safe and enjoy.

Since I don't own any of the latest technological items you mentioned can't comment on this but on chewed up shoes Rudy holds the record no doubt..thank goodness he has outgrown this but he had excellent taste in shoes..did he go for my bargain basement ones? NOT He first chewed my ballroom dancing shoes, right one, then he found my low heeled dancing shoes, right one again, to top off he chewed my line dancing shoe, right one too. These shoes were 100 bucks a pair. He has also nibbled on some others. He probably didn't like it that I left him to go dancing.. if I hadn't loved him so much

I can't wait for my first 'swim/lounge'!!!!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Again, with the temperature at just 64 here so far this morning, I am feeling so sorry for those of you baking and roasting elsewhere. I am needing a fleece jacket right now!

We were lucky enough to miss all the horrid thunderstorms and wind and hail that passed north of here and hit Burlington VT area, and then traveled south and east. I could hear the booming in the distance and feel the vibrations in the ground, so I turned on the radar and followed the track of it all as the skies got ominously dark and spooky-looking. We caught the edge of the line with heavy rain for a short time only, and no lightning and very little wind. This is the pattern that has been going on here since I got home, and I am hoping that VT won't get stuff like this next week when I will be over there for the Bluegrass Festival. Local fireworks competed with the local coyotes at nightfall, and I am not sure who won the howl/explode-off! I love to lie in bed and hear the coyote pack do their nightly howling while Molly looks out the window trying to catch sight of one of them.

My little swimming pool will be full by the end of this day, and I will be able to cool down if we get hot weather at last. This new size is perfect for just me (and Orion when he gets back here) and takes so much less water to fill than my older one....three days compared to about 10 days to fill the other one. I have to just trickle the water from the well to prevent it from getting so low it stirs up sand from the bottom....so far, nice and clear. The upper inflatable rim I will fill to capacity when the pool is full...they said to keep it soft while filling. I should be able to connect the pump and filter by late this afternoon.

Today I may go to town and do my shopping for next week, fill my propane tank and my truck's gas tank, buy a couple of sheets of plywood for my parking pad upon my return, and then relax in the pool, perhaps!

I sure do hope we get some warm sunshine coming through soon.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

good morning everybody
79 degrees this morning with 69% humidity. We had a storm yesterday and some areas really flooded bad.
Plans for today...................taking Gracie for a ride out to the rv. Its a good 45 miles one way. Gotta
get my quilting stuff, my rotary cutter and my ruler thingies, its actually a triangle.
No time for playing around on the computer, I like to get things done before it gets too hot so off to
get dressed and get rollin.
Ya'll have a great day.

I didn't do a darn thing yesterday. My sister and I like to go to the lake for the 4th but she only got one day off so we just stayed home. When the 4th is during the week they don't seem to know when to have the fireworks. There will be a few several nights but if it's a weekend there are big shows. Last year we were all under burn bans so wasn't much either. I watched fireworks on TV but not like sitting by the lake.

If we didn't have all these cats I might get a pool like Soos to just lay out in. I don't have to worry about the weather, it's plenty hot here. Maybe I could get one of the ones that is only 12" deep. 8-) Over the years we had several above ground pools and they are a lot of work. It's so hot here that by August it was a battle to keep them clean.

It kind of looks like it could rain. Yesterday it got dark and thundered for a while but the rain missed us. We could use some rain now. I have a hanging basket that had some kind of flower in it. It almost died once and it was wilting again the other day. Where I got it they told me not to water it too much but if I don't water it every other day it's not going to make it.

Good morning all. It was cooler in Vegas yesterday with wind and a little rain. Today same. Fireworks were fun to watch from the top of the Rio. Could see them all over the valley. However, they changed the date of the "official" fireworks for the strip hotels to Satuday. What's up with that? We return to Houston tomorrow.

Can't wait to start upgrading to my new iPad waiting for me @ home.

Dawn - you can take any DVD that you own to Walmart and for $3 they will convert it to the format to watch on your iPad or iPone (any pad or smart phone or computer). Saves shelf space.

Soos - pool looks awesome. Do you need a volunteer life guard?

Sanders- have a great trip north. We'll have to have a mini gtg when you get back.

Everyone stay safe and as cool as possible.

Good morning from Minneapolis! Parked in very nice county park, Baker Preserve. Spots are far apart and very grassy, even green-grassy since they have had enough rain here. Most importantly, they have 30 amp electrical in most spots, so my AC unit is working wonderfully well, even in yesterday’s 100 degree heat. (Only $22 per night, also.)

In spite of all the areas where they economized, at least Fleetwood put in an AC unit which is more than adequate, which means I will be comfortable even in the desert. I really need AC in this heat as I do not tolerate it very well.

I am here visiting my nephew and his family. My brother and his mother were not capable of taking care of him, so he was raised from one-year-old by his maternal aunt and her partner, and later adopted by them. They have done a marvelous job with this young man and his 13 year old sister. He has graduated from high school and is off to college in the fall. He is extremely bright and reads constantly, so I brought him some of the books I was getting rid of. I knew he probably had the same weird tastes I do for history and such, and he does. We spent last night at a neighborhood picnic and then to fireworks at a nearby park. I was VERY happy to get home and get a shower, however!!

All this talk about Ipads and Smart phones has me wanting to upgrade. I probably would have one now but while in Little Rock I had bought a grill at camping world and a baby swing for my soon to be great grand and couldn't get the key to lock my bed cover so I opted for going back later.
Judy, that park sounds nice..makes me even more anxious to get out there. The story of your nephew just warms my heart. To think he and his sister could have turned out so different with another environment.
