What!!!!, IT'S Thursday?????

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Morning

Postby avalen » Thu Jun 28, 2012 8:21 am

Good Morning ladies
Slow starting this morning, forgot to buy coffee yesterday so I was down to the left over of about a cup and a half
this morning. Gonna have to go to the store this am.
Got the new bed put in yesterday, its much easier to change the sheets on this one as it isn't wedged into that
cubby space like the other one. Twin is not always the same size, I guess. Funny little Gracie cried and whined
during that 3 hours the bed wasn't there as I framed out the platform. She kept looking at me and looking at
the empty space. Gonna have to do the same thing today, pull the bed up and reset the platform as I made it
too high. I wanted to slide the little dog kennel under but that made it too high for comfort. Pixie, the little
blind girl had a hard time climbing down and bashed her chin on the floor. Broke my heart so I'll fix that today.
Kennel will go back in its old spot.
Finally heard from the insurance company yesterday, my check should show up in my mailbox next week. :D
Finally, no stress now about getting the bills paid for July and everything will be current by the time I get my
first "real" paycheck of the season.
Off to make a grocery list, ya'll have a great day, be safe, be cool and stay dry.

GOOD MORNING AVA ALL!

Sure is nice to see you are feeling so much better and getting finances caught up, Ava! Life seems good for you now!

The sun is out today, at long last! Temperature in that sun is 75, with a gentle breeze----all in all, a wonderful morning.

Got my yearly squishing yesterday, and I am clear and good to go until next year, thank heavens. I am so thankful they have a doc there now to read the mammograms as soon as they are taken, so I don't have to stress at home for the call to come back or drop dead! One of my first students I ever taught works in the radiology lab, and it's always good to get caught up with her. I cannot believe how old she looks, however---how did that happen??

Joe is already up and out today, as I heard his truck leave a while ago. Mandy and Orion are still with Mema, so it's just me and the dogs at the Compound today. Perhaps this will actually be the day I do get to the leanto and get it swamped out and sleep-ready for the summer months. I need a better bed down there, and that will be priority one this year. I do have a queen-sized air bed on a rack I can bring down there, but air beds are so cold unless I can find some more memory foam to go on top and insulate me! Right now I have a saggy (very saggy) antique bed frame and chain pad which supports a regular old mattress, and it's like sleeping in a hammock.

I have decided to go to Brandon, VT, for the Basin Bluegrass Festival on July 9th through the 16th. I'll be hauling the trailer over some route I still need to scout out, across the new bridge over Lake Champlain and to the grounds. I'll be meeting Richard somewhere over there so we can go in together and set up next to each other, as festivals are very much better if you have friends nearby. One guy who plays the fiddle will be there, and told Richard to tell me to be sure to bring my fiddle and that he expects me to play something for him this year! EEEK! I haven't picked up my fiddle for years now----guess I'd better put that on the docket today, too, and find some piece I can memorize and play before I get there! I used to know Devil's Dream about 30 years ago!

Time to finish up coffee and get moving here while the sun's shining. Very tearful farewell from Ann on the Today Show just now has me sniffling and I need a ton of hankies. Happy Thursday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Postby Carolinagal » Thu Jun 28, 2012 8:35 am

Morning! Notice I didn't say ,good? I have a sick little dog , past two days. She kept me up all night, Vet visit this morning, soon as they are open, Hopefully DIl can take us. Maggie is acting as usual this morning, full of energy and wants the rabbits :D

My Dr visit Monday was good news, My heart rythmn was like it should be and EkG was really good. But I'm still on blood thinner. Cardio dr. Told me to go home for several months and let my dr take care of me. So I'm heading East as soon as I feel I can make the trip. It will be a slow one, I don't want to go home, and I've made this trip so many times plenty of nice parks , with not many miles between to stop at.

Not enough sleep last night, to go into details about any of this.

Hope you all have a great day, stay safe, cool if you can, it's been 103 here for several days and so many fires which are only about 25 or so miles away.

Take care and Enjoy your day, no matter what
CArol :)

Good Morning Ava, Soos and all,

Thanks for starting coffee this morning Ava. Some days I would rather follow than lead  So glad to hear that your insurance check will be coming and you will be all caught up on your bills, plus you will also be returning to work as well. Yes, being a lady of leisure is nice, but unfortunately some of us need to make some green to keep on going. Having sold my TT, traded my truck and so forth has reduced some of my expenses as well and I'm staring to come ahead a bit now too. Really been enjoying my little day trips this summer so far. Unfortunately, my dogs have not been along on some of them and they aren't happy. I'll will make it up to them, but as long as my friend and this next week also her sister, are out doing things, they have to stay home.

Soos, enjoy the lovely weather you are having. We just had it here and I wish it had stayed all summer. Now however we are sitting on the edge of another hot weather spell. And it probably will move out your way eventually. The hottest weather will stay to my south, but we will still be pushing 90 here today. Be a good day to be by a big lake as they are always a little cooler. And no rain in sight here either. With the sandy soil we have here, it is already drying up despite the 4+ inches of reain we had last month, so I iwll be watering my flowers daily now.

Heading off to work in a little bit. Working 11-7:30 shift today again. Then back to 8 tomorrow. As of yesterday, we only had 2 campsites open for this weekend yet and I'm sure they will go if not already gone. With this hot weather, the beach will be packed and the 4th of July fireworks are Saturday night here. So the park will be jammed with lookers although the fireworks are shot off a bit farther down the lake. Then it will take half of Sunday morning to clean up behind them all  I don't know why fireworks have to be shot off on the weekends anymore. The 4th of July is the 4th of July and should be celebrated as such regardless of what day it's on. Off my soapbox on that one now.

Am going to do some catching up on the forum here before heading of to work. So will wish all of you a wonderful day, if you are in teh stormy areas, be safe and same for those on the road. Have fun and enjoy your travels.

Morning CArol,

Seems like you and Ava both started posts on Thursday morning today. But I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and actually might start heading back home when you feel up to it. Hmmm, maybe you should make a run through MI on the way :) Enjoy some Great Lakes weather for a bit although we are hot here too, but not like you are out there. Hope none of the fires get any closer to you.

Also hope your little four legged friend is just having a temp setback. No fun when our "furkids" are sick. I have a dog on antibiotics too and hopefully they will take care of the urinary problem. She is full of he-- right now. Doc isn't sure if it's a bladder infection or we are dealing with a slilght incontenence problem. Will know in about 10 days when she goes back for another test to see what's going on. He did say though that she could be in for kidney problems in the future. Hope not.

Morning all, good thing we have computers and cellphones to tell uswhat day it is! Even when I worked I had such a crazy schedule half the time I didnt know what day it was! Carol, I know you don't want to go home but the dr did say for a few months. So make an enjoyable of the trip back. I love the area you live in, passed by your house last month on the way home from NC. I wouold be perfectly content to have a retirement home somewhere in the NC mtns or Smokies. I stopped down the road at the Ocoee River and walked all around. Maybe during th time you are home we'll do something together.HOT again today, and I have a feeling Im going to be lazy because it's 9;30 and Im still drinking coffee and going to watch news. Everyone have fun and safe day! Wendy

It's going to be an inside day for me, temps the next week are going to be 100+ really scary. Still no rain and all our small bushes are brown as many trees are starting to turn. Too hot to head north now plus i seem to have picked up something, nope, not a two legged something  I went to sleep after coffee and Andy woke me at almost nine wanting breakfast.

Sorry to hear Maggie is sick but dogs are like cars, symptoms go away as soon as you make an appointment. I hope you can take an enjoyable route home you could consider it therapy. So glad to hear you are better.
Kathleen stay up there out of this heat wish I were there we could GTG!

Ava, so glad things are working out for you allowing you to get back on track. Such a relief to you, I'm sure.

Soos, how neat that you are going to play your fiddle and you got good news on your mammogram. I know you'll have a lot of fun with your friends playing your music.

Sue, I am hoping our neighbors don't shoot off their fireworks before the 4th too. Paul is working on getting the pasture brush hogged, but had to stop to work on the PTO. The grass is too high this year since no goats out there now. Probably should have waited to sell them, but could not see how I was going to get them vaccinated by myself. 4th always scares me every year because of fires. People behind us point their fireworks over our pasture every year. They don't care. If the barn or storage buildings catch on fire, not their problem.

I had to take all 6 dogs by myself to Danny to get groomed today. Because of the heat, I could not make my normal 2 at a time trips into the building. I had to have looked like one of those New York City dog walkers this morning. Mom normally goes and sits in the truck so I can leave it running but her arthritis is really hurting her today. Before we hit the road, I want to go to doctor with her to see if she can get pain blocking meds like I take for Neuropathy. That would help her if she can. Her being on the road with me will make it easier on her. I will be right there on her bad days.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

I made it back from Florida about noon today. Boy am I happy to be home. My son's driving scares me. I seldom drive over 65 and he drives 70 or a little better and tail gates. He was driving 70 in the rain and I would have been doing 55. We were just darn lucky, I had an inside tire blow when I turned in the driveway. We would have been half a day getting that fixed and on the road again. Need to get on the internet and find a couple of new tires. I can get them delivered faster than the local dealer and get what I want. The one that blew out was only 2 years old. Probably picked up a nail and lost air.

I gave up trying to post after losing 2. We spent 4 days dodging Debby and her aftermath. It's a good thing we started out Sunday, we got ahead of the flooding. We started back Tuesday and drove until it was raining too bad. There was flooding ahead of us but it had drained off of I-75 Wednesday morning but I-10 was closed East and West at I-75 junction. We had to go about 30 miles north and then turn West to get around the flooding.

Martha- good to hear you are safe and sound. Sorry to say this, but I would have had to drop off Son and leave him along side the road. That would have scared the bejeebers out of me!

Great news, Carol and Ava! Hope to have something good about Maggie soon.
Also good to know Martha made it home safely.
Our weather has gone from just being very uncomfortable to down right dangerous. All sorts of heat related warnings and restrictions on water usage and fires now being imposed. Sadly it is going to be at its worse for Paulette's brief visit; she will likely never want to come back this way. Today it hit 103; tomorrow forecast at 106 for Paulette's arrival and then 106 to 111 on Saturday. The highest temperature ever recorded in the entire state was 112 back in 1928.
Finally got Magic out of shop late yesterday. Should have been ready last Sat or Monday from what they told me when I left her. It turned out to be a most unpleasant and expensive experience. I assume the RV dealer was having some sort of unusual problems; if this experience was typical he could not stay in business. I'm not even sure they got some things done; I know some were not touched but didn't discover until after I had left the lot. One thing I was totally surprised about was the charge for just checking the air pressure in tires. I've never been charged for that but this was the first time it was done on RV. I only asked to have that done as an after thought since it was there. Is it common to have to pay for that on small RVs?

Thanks. Unfortunately we don't have them in the SE. I will be looking for some other place next time I get tires checked for sure. Almost $50.00 just to check tire pressure on small Class C was a real shock.
Oh, I forgot to mention the refinancing on house was just approved. Will close in mid July.

Sarah I would go back and protest that charge that is just not right! If you put it on a charge card tell them you are going to file a protest or what ever it is you do when you feel you are charged wrong.
